worries after yesterdays print buying, by Octopus UK on Feb 6, 2007 18:12:38 GMT 1, I have my fingers crossed. I got the last Albino Space Invader but at the credit card stage the web browser went funny so I had to press back a few times and try again. I did get a confirmation web page with all I was expecting on it so I think I'm OK!

LAZ Censership, by Octopus UK on Mar 12, 2007 19:47:28 GMT 1, Maybe I'm missing something but this afternoon "at work" I noticed a (longish) threat pointing out some issues people were having with LAZ and POW. Now I've got home I can't see the thread anywhere.

How would a lottery work?, by Octopus UK on Feb 27, 2007 18:34:17 GMT 1, The second option - the first is a raffle
I'd prefer the second option but how to stop someone getting lots of tickets? With option 1 at least someone has to pay cash for each ticket. But if you have deep pockets you could amost guarantee getting a print by buying lots and lots of tickets.

How would a lottery work?, by Octopus UK on Feb 27, 2007 18:18:34 GMT 1, Hi, sometimes on this forum I see reference to a POW lottery for future Banksy prints. Does anyone know how the lottery MIGHT work?
One option is everyone buys a "ticket" which are limited in number (say for a print run of 100, 1000 tickets are issued). The price of the ticket would represent the ratio between prints to tickets (eg prints worth £200, tickets cost £20). Then a number of tickets equal to the number of prints would be drawn (No one gets refunds but the winners get a £200 print for £20).
Another is that the unlimited number of tickets are free (but limited to one per person) and 100 are selected and these people pay the full cost of the print (£200).
Any thoughts?

NEW FAILE, by Octopus UK on Mar 14, 2007 21:18:21 GMT 1, 20 USD is only about a tenner, not that much if you really want something from the states.
You are right. The unknown variable in all this is that I am a Yorkshireman and I don't like spending money I don't have to!
I've bought the four now so it's done. I also realise that there may be some import duty/VAT on these. Does "art" attract a special duty?

NEW FAILE, by Octopus UK on Mar 14, 2007 19:21:46 GMT 1, I have the black one, its rad. Just a cool random object to have on a table, desk, whatever. As far as the other colors, I don't think I'd want any of them, perhaps the red.
Thanks for your opinion taktheride. I am a bit of a "completest", if there are 6 available, I'd want all 6 or none. But just having 4 is all part of my therepy!
They are plastic resin sprayed? Are they solid or hollow?

NEW FAILE, by Octopus UK on Mar 14, 2007 19:02:48 GMT 1, faile should take their remaining bunny boy statues and pimp them out... i'd buy one
Eh?
I've justed check ebay and there is a Black one for BIN £99 and a silver one for £12 odd at the moment (4 days to go). I know the silver ones are special (signed / numbered and from a more limited edition) but this seller doesn't say this or the edition number. I've asked the seller a question about this.

NEW FAILE, by Octopus UK on Mar 14, 2007 18:48:49 GMT 1, I've looked at the sculpture page and I am interested in the bunny boys - but the postage is $20 per sculpture! Why no discount when I'm buying 4 (the web site says there are 5 colours but I can't see the 5th colour). Just seen it, Black on the sold out page. If you're buying 4 surely what you make on ebay will pay for your initial lay out. Or dare I even suggest that that is what you have in mind.
I don't buy art (or anything else really) to sell. All I've ever sold on ebay were DVDs of TV shows I'll never watch again. I just like the sculptures but think that $20 each for shipping could be reduced. I'm probably happy to pay the price if there is no alternative. Gordy, are they cheaper elsewhere then?

Why no discount when I'm buying 4 (ithe web site says there are 5 colours but I can't see the 5th colour) If you email them they may be able to reduce the shipping, someone told me they cna combine the shipping on the books. but I'd take a punt that they're a little busy at the moment so wouldn't expect a reply quickly!
Thanks, I've sent them an email asking if it is possible. I might stroll over to the FAILE forum and check that out. I'm running out of wall space at the moment but I do have lots of flat surfaces that I can clutter up with art now - hence my interest in the sculpturs.

DEATH PLANET, by Octopus UK on Jul 19, 2007 17:36:14 GMT 1, I'd have to see the print in "the flesh" before deciding if it is worth £300. Not sure how I can do this though.

My morons got damaged (pic), by Octopus UK on May 7, 2007 15:23:05 GMT 1, I suppose you're right, for that price you'd expect a piece of paper in almost perfect condition. Still the actual edge of the paper is not perfect so the creases if "removed" wouldn't look "out of place".
Hopefully if POW get lots of returns they may have to re-evaluate their packing practices.

My morons got damaged (pic), by Octopus UK on May 7, 2007 14:03:13 GMT 1, Can't these creases be smoothed out? They are a long way from the image itself.
PS It's a Bank Holiday in the UK today.

Your latest Art Purchase?, by Octopus UK on Feb 23, 2008 16:22:31 GMT 1, The print looks to have some diagonal ripples through it. It is likley you will not happy with this, so I'll take it off your hands for a around one hundred £'s? (:

Your latest Art Purchase?, by Octopus UK on Oct 7, 2007 20:47:58 GMT 1, These pieces are not in any way street art but are quite main stream modern art. They are four prints by Eduardo Paolozzi. The more colourful, large, piece is my recent purchase that arrived damaged. The gallery offered me compensation for the damage so I decided to keep the print. Glad I did. I've gone for a metalic frame, since many of Eduardo's pieces are themselves quite machinistic and metalic.
The two smaller pieces (in gold frames) are from his large Moonstrips Empire News series. The frames cost me just £5.50 each, I had to cut the mount to make the apature a bit larger. Not perfect but I good value.

Your latest Art Purchase?, by Octopus UK on Jun 19, 2007 19:19:09 GMT 1, I have my Superstition in a frame. My options were limited due to the size of the poster, 100cm x 66cm and my unwillingness to spend mega bucks on the frame. The black aluminium frame is slightly wider than the poster, by 4cm, so I've added some black backing paper to fill the frame.
This completes the framing of my signed Damien Hirst posters (from Easter!) BUT I still have an empty gold frame waiting for a landscape, signed, Death of God if anyone has one for sale.
