BRP White Noise Preview..., by themightyreds on Nov 22, 2007 22:38:21 GMT 1, I was there earlier - lots of good stuff on show... wasn't too taken with the piece in question, but some of the other versions of Pop Tart were great. The ones on acrylic were overpriced i think at ยฃ6000 a go but the screenprint + collage versions would be in my collection now if they weren't all sold when i got there... at 6.15!
Will try and get pics uploaded in a bit.

Your latest Art Purchase?, by themightyreds on Dec 31, 2007 1:23:52 GMT 1, Have to say its a nice frame-job there redfred!! Loving the way that 3D titled all the PoW prints as well as signing them - very nice touch! & that print looks particularly good with all the space around it too.

Your latest Art Purchase?, by themightyreds on Oct 15, 2007 19:45:31 GMT 1, There's a light frame the same size as the inner of the main frame and the edges of the glass that is held in by little rotating metal latches on the back of the frame. I was a bit dubious about it all holding together ok as there's a fair bit of weight to it, but now they're up they seem fine, and the prints look really nice and crisp the way they are held so flat between the glass.

Your latest Art Purchase?, by themightyreds on Oct 15, 2007 19:33:45 GMT 1, Wiseblood, getting perspex cut to size is a fine idea! & CR, the frames have little metal hangers built in on each side so i just put up a couple of screws the right distance apart to hang it on.

Your latest Art Purchase?, by themightyreds on Oct 15, 2007 16:22:26 GMT 1, Only tip i have when buying these frames is to be extremely thorough when checking them for damage as the white finish does seem to chip/mark very easily - took me 4 orders at 2 different stores before i could find 2 that were not damaged...!
Also, get them packed well in the store before leaving... all to easy to knock an edge getting them out of the car boot!

Your latest Art Purchase?, by themightyreds on Oct 15, 2007 15:44:28 GMT 1, Cheers Curley. Saw in a framers at the weekend a 2mm white spacer but don't know if the frame would accommodate it... And like you said, it will probably show too.
When i have funds i'm going to try and get the frame replicated with glass both sides and some space between. I'd better start saving!

Your latest Art Purchase?, by themightyreds on Oct 15, 2007 14:12:22 GMT 1, I think that maybe the images i posted above are a bit misleading... the prints are not float mounted in them, it is just the light from directly overhead casting shadows in the pictures that makes them look that way. The frames are off-the-shelf jobs from habitat (80x60 and about ยฃ30 each) that sandwich the prints between two sheets of glass and have no backboard in them so you can see through the frame and onto the wall behind. I can imaging a few people will be thinking that its a massive no-no to let the prints touch the glass... was thinking about that too but no-one i have asked (framers, print houses, artists) can definitively say that in the short term (2-5 years) it is in any way harmful so i thought i'd rather get them hung in some cheap-ish frames to enjoy them until i can save up for a pro-framing job. I remember reading on here somewhere that another forum member (might be CBL) used some spacers with one of these frames to keep the printed face of the print off of the glass... if anyone can remember who and could let me know i'd really like to ask them how to go about it.

Your latest Art Purchase?, by themightyreds on Oct 15, 2007 11:21:32 GMT 1, Got the Cept back in April from the artist direct. Top bloke, came over to my house with it in his folio of prints to save rolling it. Well chuffed with it! Think there's a print edition of it ready to be sold at StellaDore when its up and running, and a few new ones coming from him soon.
