Blek - PartII - Le Spectacle, by stjohn on May 9, 2008 12:39:54 GMT 1, lynch him! but drink a can of fosters first dammit! nice to finally meet u Insite and of course all the others .... have to say flabbergasted by the amount of ppl here and am rather cynical about it...but i wont air those views...underwhemlmed by a fair bit of the art and was confused by the sponge bob canvas (which would have been awesome without him i reckon!)
Despite trying to figure out Spongebob's presence on the canvas, I too am at a complete and utter loss as to what it means... anyone? I think it does detract from the piece. There were some other sticker type things (snails and stuff) on other canvases. I just don't get it.

blek prints, by stjohn on May 9, 2008 12:21:01 GMT 1, Great show which was packed out. Got Death of Carravagio and Running Man last night - I left at 8 and they had sold at least 50 out of the 75 by then, so surprised still available.
Here is the original on canvas of D of C:

Jose Parla Print, by stjohn on May 6, 2008 16:16:04 GMT 1, how much was it originally? it's a lovely print. anyone have an idea if any more parla prints are coming, particularly after the italian show / in advance of the elms lester exhibition.
It was 700 USD but due to crazy shipping and packing costs came out at £600 odd.
www.222gallery.com/catalog/category.aspx?cat_id=85
This is the only known print by him in existence and I don't know if any others are planned.
If you have the Memory Documents book, you can see where the print has come from as there is a picture taken out of a window with writing on it quite like (not same as) this print.

Jose Parla - Bring it, by stjohn on May 4, 2008 0:38:46 GMT 1, Are they on canvas or wood? If they go according to what I am familiar with, the one is 6' by 4' on wood, with the larger one being two 6' by 4' panels on wood.
Thanks - that figures looking at them.
Jose seems to favour wood over canvas. Out of the 15 or so pieces in Italy, only about 5 were on canvas, 10 or so being on wood.

Jose Parla - Bring it, by stjohn on May 3, 2008 23:13:53 GMT 1, Re echoed Sound of Brooklyn Megalopolis Hooked up with Jose before his Miami Basel show and commissioned Megalopolis. I'd been blown away by these word landscapes and the stories behind them. We became friends both being in Brooklyn and much in common. Before he was done with Mega I "sold the farm" to commission Re echoed. He'd wanted to go somewhat bigger and I was -- bro take your time, whenever your ready. I'd seen more developing decay and the vertical tails starting that were evident on some of the Elms pieces. It was beyond worth the wait. I can't express enough the joy I get from them daily. Jose is as straight up as they come. Such a genuine personality with heart and vision. It's no wonder he's taking off with such a strong history/body of work and evolving with new mediums.
Amazing! What size are these pieces not1scar?

Signed Labrona print arrived but no number!, by stjohn on May 2, 2008 11:38:26 GMT 1, Yeah - I am not that fussed to be honest, I just got thinking about signed un-numbered prints as a point of principle. What if someone now had a signed Banksy Kate Moss that was unnumbered, would it matter...

Signed Labrona print arrived but no number!, by stjohn on May 2, 2008 10:22:37 GMT 1, Ordered all colourway Labrona Horses following this link:
banksyforum.proboards82.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=17589
Print itself looks fabtastic. But ... although signed, there is no number at all!! It is supposed to be an edition of 80. I ordered the other colours as well and they are numbered out of 80.
Is this good or bad? It is unique having no number, but neither is it marked AP, PP or HC or anything. Not sure what number it should actually be.
In terms of value, do people think this makes a print more or less valuable??

GREAT NEW PIECE IN MANCHESTER - WARDEN MUMMY, by stjohn on Apr 30, 2008 19:17:33 GMT 1, What they don't actually know is that there is a tracking device hidden inside the wood. Wasn't it a little obvious to people that that was why it wasnt on the brick in the first place?

Faile box, by stjohn on Apr 11, 2008 13:21:11 GMT 1, Does anyone have a ballpark figure for cost of Faile box 50 x 30 x 5 cms.
Fully appreciate depends on images, but just want an idea of affordability!
