Some items for sale., by Coach on May 29, 2022 12:03:57 GMT 1, I reposted my sales thread too .. it seems pointless to have them buried in some backwater Threads in the For Sale board will stay forever in that board if they are active with new posts, keeping them within the first 2 pages. When they are no longer active, no new posts, and they get to the 3rd page, the may get move to an artist's board in hope that they might attract more interest in the long term from a buyer. Hope you can understand, that if the thread doesn't have activity, then it falls out of view in the sales board, while it can appear top in the artist's board, and even appear with a direct link from the front page of the forum. Thank you. It’s awfully difficult to navigate the site on a mobile phone at the moment Dan. Is that being looked in to? has the option to like a post been removed? many thanks.

Visit BARCELONA 🇪🇸 Spain Street Art, Galleries, Events, by Coach on May 21, 2022 21:46:11 GMT 1, Going to Barcelona for the first time in a week and would love recommendations for galleries, museums, street art pieces to see, etc. We are going to do a graffiti walking tour which hopefully covers major artists like Blu's whale. There's an unauthorized Banksy show, though I think Massive Attack and Gorillaz are both performing at a major music event that week so maybe some new authentic Banksy pieces popping up around town... The Fundació Joan Miró is a must.
Could not agree more. Loved it there.

Banksy Welcome Mat, by Coach on May 5, 2022 22:42:09 GMT 1, Indeed this is a strong piece. Opening that box and thinking about the history of these dirty, torn life jacket parts ... I don’t think any other piece of art ever instantly hit me like that. I got some serious goose bumps back then. And sorry if this is off topic as actually it has nothing to do with chess.
Moreover, nothing to do with value.

Banksy Welcome Mat, by Coach on May 3, 2022 0:03:13 GMT 1, Now that’s a profit rather than the cause statement if ever I’ve heard one. Sort of goes against the whole point of the art really. Here is a picture of my wall. I'll bet you'll see a lot of local/unknown artists that I support in buying their art. Anyways, thanks for letting me know that I don't get the point of art. Now I'll stay awake the whole night because of this.
The reference to “my wall” is intriguing. Do you only have art on that one wall? Genuinely interested.

Guy Denning drawings, paintings anyone?, by Coach on May 1, 2022 22:39:18 GMT 1, commissioned original.
This is fabulous, my friend. I used to have a Screaming Head original. Sold it when I needed to raise money for something more important than art. Still miss it.

Sotheby's Art Auctions • LONDON 🇬🇧, by Coach on Apr 26, 2022 15:13:21 GMT 1, That GWB AP would have done well if it wasn’t for the damage. It goes to show cheap framing is a false economy. Going cheap on the framing has cost that seller hundreds of thousands.
Really? I agree that mat burn (if that is what the damage was - I accept that I’ve not seen the print) reduces the value of a print. I’m not sure that it reduces it by as much as you suggest.

Recommended Art Books, by Coach on Apr 22, 2022 17:02:20 GMT 1, Just wanted to publicly acknowledge what a diamond John The Badgers is. Setting aside his constant great posts here, he’s also very generous, as are many others on here, and it rarely gets mentioned. I recently posted about a book that I had missed out on. It came as little surprise, but hugely appreciated, that a copy arrived in the post for me from John. Lovely gentleman.

Your latest Art Purchase?, by Coach on Apr 20, 2022 21:32:45 GMT 1, Very interesting. I do wish I’d had the opportunity to study art history. I can’t think of a thing I’d have found more interesting and rewarding. I am sure that it’s a little clichéd, but I am very fond of Klimt’s work too. Years ago I travelled to Vienna with the main purpose of seeing as much Secession work in person as I could. Photographs rarely do justice to the texture, colours and beauty of the paintings. By the by, there’s an interesting series of documentaries on Sky Arts called “The mystery of the lost..”, with episode six being the mystery of the lost Klimt. It’s about an attempt to recreate a huge lost painting that was destroyed in 1945 by the German army. It may well be too basic for you, in view of your studies. But I learned a lot about Klimt’s methods. Might be of some interest. Sounds really interesting and not at all 'basic' as you say. I remember the size of Klimt's work- after being used to the posters and photos, I imagined them to be around that size for some reason. Do you have a favourite? Danae is me through and through. 🖤
Danae was my favourite for yours. I’ve often thought that I’d love to see it hung next to Frederic Lord Leighton’s Flaming June. Both beautiful. I’m also very fond of Judith (so much gold!). For impact it was seeing the Beethoven Frieze in the Secession Building. Truly breathtaking. Tbh though, I’m a bigger fan of Schiele. The exhibition of Schiele and his Contemporaries at the RA in 1990 remains one of my favourite exhibitions.

Glasgow Children's Hospital Art Auction 2022, by Coach on Apr 20, 2022 14:15:46 GMT 1, Every day in the prep for this auction is a surprise. I contacted literally 100's of artists to ask if they'd like to help and there were many who I heard nothing back from. Then today out of the blue Turner Prize winning Martin Creed messaged to say he'd like to donate a work. I can't wait to see what touches down, watch this space....🙂
Incredible. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, it’s a wonderful thing you are doing my friend. Bravo.
