Banksy+BNE for World Water Day, by otomi on Mar 23, 2014 7:22:23 GMT 1, the Invader, Faile and Fairey shirts were real so was the Fairey original for sale today (it was on Obeygiant) they have promoted it as Banksy's work (it was on Arrested Motion and Streetartnews) I could see that Banksy has not finished the artwork that's why it is not shown yet or it is total fake
it's like a 80 bucks lottery ticket

New Josh Keyes at TinyShowcase, by otomi on Mar 5, 2014 1:13:37 GMT 1, Thanks for that craigf, what fantastic images, really strong. I'm on a buying ban though from her in doors but they are so small she will never know. Buy them, frame them, stick them on the wall, she will never realise. Genius! Maybe I'll try this with a Miss Bugs resin piece....with any luck she won't notice the 10,000 lb piece of art in the corner On an more appropriate note, love these little prints, lets people have beautiful art at a reasonable price - with money going to a good cause. Good work, Mr. Keyes! Not all of them. The first one was an edition of 100 and the next one 200 not sure about 3&4 but after that they were timed releases or large editions.

The Art Damien Hirst Stole, by otomi on Jan 24, 2014 3:11:02 GMT 1, It's like saying no one can ever use a cow, a circle or a mandala in their art again. A taxidermy shark is very different then a shark in formaldehyde.
Feels like someone wants some attentions by talking about Hirst.
Most art pieces are based on previous works of art. During the whole middle ages everyone was doing the same.
meh

WCP The West Country Prince, by otomi on Jan 4, 2014 0:06:00 GMT 1, How do you know they don't own the image rights? Because they label it copy and they would let you know if they would own the right.
What gives you the slightest idea they do?
PestControl will let you know about them and owning rights.
I will stop now - so this thread doesn't get even more attention.

WCP The West Country Prince, by otomi on Jan 3, 2014 20:20:55 GMT 1, What the sam hill is a knock off Banksy canvas? A knock off or snide is something being sold as a original when it is clearly not! WE ARE NOT INTO THE ART - WE ARE INTO CHAOS! F**K YEAH!!! A fake is a fake - stamp on the back doesn't make a difference. If you don't own the rights to the image you shouldn't sell them on a professional scale.

What to see/do in San Francisco?, by otomi on Dec 6, 2013 21:30:59 GMT 1, I also only live a few blocks away. You do want to watch out a bit. Oakland has some very bad parts and muggins happening all the time. Fair point, but muggings happen everywhere (even Shoreditch, dare I suggest it) and there is a lot more of the world to see if you don't start by assuming it's scary. And while I'm at it, SF has a pretty high crime rate in some areas as well. Muggins happen everywhere but how many you have makes a difference. I'm from Europe living in Oakland the level of crime is at a whole different level. I think it is warranted to let someone, who is not familiar with the area, know that it is ahigh crime area. I'm sure muggins in Shoreditch involve much less guns. The police tells women to cover their gold chains and people shouldn't have their smartphones out ... I'm not overly afraid I'm just aware and don't want an visitor to lose his stuff.

What to see/do in San Francisco?, by otomi on Dec 5, 2013 20:52:20 GMT 1, And if you have time and feel like exploring a bit, head across the bridge into Oakland and Berkeley. Oakland has a solid street art scene, some of it in dodgy areas, as well as a thriving food and beer resurgence. Check the Temescal/Uptown/Piedmont areas for good restaurants and bars, plus the first Friday of every month is a big street/art/music festival on Telegraph Ave. called First Friday. Come early, the shootings usually start later (I'm kidding, I live a few blocks away, it's fine...) www.oaklandfirstfridays.org/ I also only live a few blocks away. You do want to watch out a bit. West Country Prince - Orange Nola & Laugh Now, by otomi on Nov 26, 2013 18:35:13 GMT 1, I think it does affect the value specially of unsigned prints. Every time I see an unsigned print now I think WCP. (you can't see the stamp on the back once it is framed) And I'm sure many people that would have bought an 1k pound unsigned print just got a fake one.

Selling fake banksy would surely imply someone is trying sell a work as an original when it is'nt, thats not the case, they're selling reproduction banksys for ยฃ55. This has being going on for years and banksy nor pow seem to have any quams with it, if they did we'd all know about it. If banksy spoke out about how he wasnt happy with it all then yes it would be wrong but he has'nt, why, because it does no damage to him as an artist. He sold his canvass's for $60, why, to make a point, the art market can be farce, people should buy what they like not because its by whoever but because they like it. Yes if you can afford the original buy it or if your interested in investment, i dont see anyone being harmed here and banksys a big boy who can stick up for himself if he chooses to. That coming from a gallery is pretty funny.
I guess you can close shop then or are you also selling WCP prints.
Even for a reproduction you need permission specially if you are selling it.

West Country Prince - Orange Nola & Laugh Now, by otomi on Nov 25, 2013 23:17:19 GMT 1, Did Banksy seek approval from the artists who painted the original oils that he disfigured for the Crude Oils show ? And the charity pic that he just added his signiture on , instantly making it worth hundreds of thousands , but altering someone elses art. In the early days before his graffiti added value, did he worry about the house, or business owner before he splattered paint around ? Illegally lets not forget. You are all missing the point here I feel, taking it all very personally I just feel he isnt, and you are . Which is amusing. This. Mr. B doesn't give a toss. Why you lot should be so uppity is indeed hilarious. Have an opinion, sure, but remember thats all it is.Theres no moral high ground regarding Banksy. I suspect he'd rather you took that WCP frustration and instead channeled it into helping fix something thats broke, be it politics or civil society or something thats a little more important than b**ching about some clearly marked copies....ffs! I do think there is a moral high ground when it comes to stealing other peoples work and it does affect civil society and if you will politics.
The road you are walking is just as high as any one elses by telling people not to worry about fake Banksys being sold on a Banksy forum.
There are many artists on this forum. I don't think they would appreciate WCP to sell their images.

West Country Prince - Orange Nola & Laugh Now, by otomi on Nov 25, 2013 22:00:55 GMT 1, at least he signed it in the front
Wow, seems like I opened up a can of worms with my original comment on page one. Glad some people agree with me. 1.) I'm amazed by what some people think is legal and ethical for that matter. 2.) this isn't just about banksy, it's the whole idea of flat out stealing someone else's work.

West Country Prince - Orange Nola & Laugh Now, by otomi on Nov 25, 2013 8:08:49 GMT 1, if you can't afford a banksy don't get one or buy one of his posters www.picturesonwalls.com/Books_Authors.asp?Author=Banksy
go find an "undiscovered "artist you like and buy something from him
artists can only make art for a living if people buy it
promoting fake prints on here is going to raise criticism
I'm surprised it is going on for so long
These are not some copy-shop reproductions they are screenprinted and everything - I'm sure plenty of people are putting them on the wall and pretend they are real
It's not about the image it's about having a banksy - I'm sure more than one person scribbled a little signature on it

Will Banksy ever release another print?, by otomi on Nov 11, 2013 8:06:01 GMT 1, It just feels weird that he complains about how much people pay for his work and then he only sells to VIPs. To be honest 30k for a silkscreen of a balloon is a joke. So I will take it as one of his art projects about people with more money than sense and move on. If you will the opposite of his canvas stall in central park.
