Banksy โข Flower Thrower โข Love is in the Air, by spirit on Jul 6, 2017 0:52:54 GMT 1, I think there's at least an even chance you are right. It would certainly explain the flying off the handle so quickly. The perception that the forum (which is mostly just a bunch of people on the internet who don't know each other) is "hostile" is unusual but common to both. As is the idea that a threat to leave would make anyone give a toss. Seriously have you heard yourself ๐๐ your all PATHETIC who the f**k is frisky and seriously listen to yourselfs your absolutely pathetic . I am a new member and no you prob wouldn't give a dam if I left or not but bully's like yourselfs wouldn't dream of speaking to me to my face like you are now , so I certainly wouldn't leave for pathetic tools like yourself , just what's the point in having a art sales thread with a bunch of f**cking muppets like you chirping in all time it's pointless this convo is now gone pointless , all your post love hearing yourselfs all ganging up , your all pathetic and what don't you understand I'm here to buy art this convo ended hours ago and your still rapping on like littles**tzus !!! I'm not selling IM BUYING you idiot go bully someone else because I'm getting tired of you little boy ! Thank god your probably just a looser with probably nothing good to sell anyways !! Now good day sir !!! Jesus - better have a word with your doctor about increasing the dose. You'll give yourself a heart attack carrying on like that.
I'd be very happy saying any part of what I wrote to your face. Which particular part did you take exception to? If you read my posts again I don't think you will find anything nasty in there, unlike your vitriolic, foul-mouthed rants.

Banksy โข Flower Thrower โข Love is in the Air, by spirit on Jul 6, 2017 0:49:18 GMT 1, ... there are so many sales threads where some group of clowns think someone is overpricibg a print that they don't even want. They go in post some nonsense just to stir something up. That's pointless. That's how this thread started. Even before it was proven to be the past shady member.
Well I disagree. There ARE so many sales threads where people are overpricing. There are quite a few people on this forum who hype artists purely for personal gain. One week they are hyping, the next they are selling. People who go into threads saying pieces are priced too high even though they have no intention of buying are often acting as a counter balance to that.
Most sales threads by good sellers, which start with a good post describing the print, its condition, price and location etc, accompanied by pictures get left well alone I think. It tends to be the hypers sales threads that can get a bit of trouble and I think that is probably to be expected and right.
The first comment about pricing in this particular thread was by the OP saying something like "ยฃ15k+, sound fair?" which specifically invites discussion and comment about the price he proposed. And don't forget with hindsight we now know he was asking 15k+ for a book which went unsold on ebay for ยฃ600...
If a person wants to come on here and price stuff above market value with the hope of reeling in a less knowledgable person, while preventing more knowledgable people from commenting and thereby protecting them, then its not going to happen.

Banksy โข Flower Thrower โข Love is in the Air, by spirit on Jul 5, 2017 23:30:58 GMT 1, I'm already thinking about leaving and it's a shame to be honest . I did not expect this kind of hostility when trying to buy some art or to talk in art discussions with so much hate in what I thought to be a good forum ! Just because you've been here forever does not mean you know every thing . And no my friend you looked up the right word in dictionary and the right meaning ! Obnoxious being the right word here ! But thank you fake for showing that there is some decent members here that want to see this forum grow and actually has time for idiots like myself who signed up to the urban art association . You really are frisky / funkybuddha arent you ?

Banksy โข Flower Thrower โข Love is in the Air, by spirit on Jul 5, 2017 22:16:23 GMT 1, But if there were no comments in sales threads, Dappy's very useful post with proof would never have been made would it. Actually as forum guardian I'm sure dappy would still be able to post his proof. If someone else had the proof they could easily notify the admin and there it is. Simple. It may be simple, but it ain't gonna happen.
And anyway, while people who get caught out lying may find the forum "hostile and full of haters" (and quite rightly so) for most other people it's quite friendly and entertaining. The previous "signed book" thread was priceless...
For the record I find the forum anything but hostile. If you come with good intentions you will be welcomed. If you try and con people you will get jumped on. If you behave like a dick you will get called out on it. If you lose it for no good reason you will get laughed at - and that's just how things should be imo

Banksy โข Flower Thrower โข Love is in the Air, by spirit on Jul 5, 2017 19:50:53 GMT 1, Exactly new member I am ! and look at that for a comment ! You Idiot ! I'm entitled to my own opinion and that was well said in my eyes !! Crawl back under your rock instead of trying to single people out you complete and utter jerk off !! So what if I've posted 11 posts !! Some off you people are hostile as hell on here and my point proven "mr im so special because I write lots of posts" !! What a complete tool !! How old are you ?? I become a member to buy art not sell art and defiantly didn't join the urban art association to be spoken to by buffoons like yourself . I was actually interested in buying this piece until I read through it !! What that guy said was well said end of , and if you don't agree just say don't single someone out because new member or post history !! ....and breathe ๐ So what I'm taking away from this is:
People; with very short fuses / paper thin skins / who find the forum as a whole to be "hostile" and/or have something to hide would prefer there were no comments on sales threads...
There's already a place for selling with no comments called Ebay.
This is a commenting forum that happens to allow sales. Its not a sales forum that happens to allow comments.
Regardless, any member who thinks their opinion of how this place should work might have any impact whatsoever on how it actually does work obviously hasn't been around here very long.

Banksy โข Flower Thrower โข Love is in the Air, by spirit on Jul 5, 2017 19:48:50 GMT 1, With respect, I would have thought that it's threads like this that illustrate just why comments should be allowed. I'm going have to disagree with this. There is one useful post in this thread and that's dappys with proof. The rest of the 6 pages is nonsense speculation, baseless accusations and rudeness. But if there were no comments in sales threads, Dappy's very useful post with proof would never have been made would it.

Seth Globepainter ๐จ๐ต Julien Malland โข Paris Street Art, by spirit on Jul 5, 2017 18:31:26 GMT 1, Whenever you send something high value through the post you need to make sure it is insured. If the tracking comes to a dead end and the print is not delivered/lost in the post (as sometimes happens) then you claim on the insurance.
While the gallery could certainly have dealt with this better, and destroying the print is the usual course of action in this scenario, insuring it when you posted it is down to you I'm afraid.
And for future reference, don't just insure it with anyone - most of the major postal services/couriers have small print which states that works of art are excluded from the policy - which people often only find out once they try and make a claim and are refused...
Regardless, I'm sorry you had this experience.

Banksy โข Flower Thrower โข Love is in the Air, by spirit on Jul 5, 2017 14:19:04 GMT 1, Hey all you trolls and haters, Let's get something straight. You can hate as much as you like. Fact is I have a genuine LIITA with a COA from PC; and you don't! When I am good and ready I will post proof to shut you all up. I can guarantee one thing, none of you trolls or haters will ever buy this print off me. How do you like those apples? Carry on the hate, I don't give a toss. Go back to your sad lives.
You lied ("Banksy signed the book in front of me"). You got caught.
Be a man about it. Own up, apologise and move on.
Your childish "It's my ball and I'm not playing" response to the situation does you no credit whatsoever. Only makes you look worse than you did already.
You've done a great job of shafting yourself on this forum and you'd best to stick to ebay for anything you are considering selling in future.

INVADER - INVASION BLUE - ON HOLD , by spirit on Jul 5, 2017 11:21:06 GMT 1, I think this may illustrate the difference between what people say they've heard prints sell for, and what someone will actually pay. I find it hard to believe that people go to the effort of faking sales... but sometimes you wonder! You are right. Like it or not art is big business and hyping prices makes people money. I think I'll just stop selling and get burried with it all in a final act of defiance Please would you PM me the name on the headstone and the graveyard you are planning to be buried in. When you go quiet on here I'll start looking.

INVADER - INVASION BLUE - ON HOLD , by spirit on Jul 5, 2017 11:19:16 GMT 1, Stick it on the bay. My Albino didn't quite get the response I expected on here but sold within a few hours of sticking it on the bay to a member on here.
I think sometimes we forget there's a whole world of people out there.

Invader RVE Repetition Variation Evolution Print, by spirit on Jul 4, 2017 18:59:11 GMT 1, Liking this a lot! ... Though, has anyone else got an embossment from the paperstock left in their print? Is this normal? My OCD doesn't like this
Its not normal, its special!
Don't shout about it or everyone will want one.

Invader Print, Original, WANTED, by spirit on Jun 29, 2017 20:05:27 GMT 1, So many thread about Invader these days. Having 2 Aladdin Sane (yellow and gold), it makes me wonder if I like them up to the price they worth nowadays. A personal preference: I would keep my Pejac's (Meadow, Wound especiale), as I find them more powerful than Invader's nostalgia. You are going to like them more in 12 months $$$. Bet on it. If you really believe that, why are you selling Invader now? Why not hold for the 12 months and sell then for a lot more?

Invader Invasion Kit MSF, by spirit on Jun 28, 2017 21:03:52 GMT 1, The bubble may not pop, the Banksy bubble hasn't, this could go the same way! The Banksy bubble and the invader bubble are VERY different things...
The Banksy bubble has been inflating at a fairly consistent rate for 15 years or so. Arguably it is not a bubble at all but simply a recognition of his unquestionable impact on the art world, which goes far beyond street art e.g. Dismaland and The Walled Off Hotel etc etc. It is very easy to explain the increase in Banksy's prices.
The Invader bubble spent 10 years doing not very much. Yes his stuff increased in value but slowly. A print I bought for ยฃ250 in 2007, I might have got 1 or 1.5k for 8 years later. But in only another 18 months it is suddenly worth 7k. Why? I still haven't heard anything like a reasonable and convincing explanation for this sudden and rapid increase.
I like Invader's work - but it is very one dimensional when compared to what Banksy does - there really is no comparison. I would certainly not buy Invader at current secondary market prices. And even primary market prices are getting to the level where a buyer could get hurt if everything suddenly goes pop.
Of course, if you have the money to burn and you truly love the art then you have nothing to fear.

Invader RVE Repetition Variation Evolution Print, by spirit on Jun 27, 2017 23:46:36 GMT 1, there is a large BTC event on august 1 when they may hard-fork the BTC blockchain, essentially splitting it into two currencies - it is predicted to severely affect all altcoins including Ethereum. I'd look into it and plan accordingly (although it's hard to tell if the effect will be a hard negative or a positive on altcoins). don't mean to derail this thread; feel free to PM if you want to talk about it further! This^^^ The eth flash crash due to a massive sell off by one trader last Wednesday broke a lot of people, and made just a few very rich. One trader had an automatic buy placed of 3800 eth if it hit 10 cents or lower...which it did for a short time last Wednesday during the crash. He also had an automatic sell in place if it went over $300..which it did after a few hours/the market was stabilized. He made over $1,100,000 off of a $380 investment. Some traders got royally f'd because they had an automatic sell in place if it went below a certain number. Thing is, with a flash crash it didn't go down to xxx dollars, it went straight to 10 cents. All those traders who had an auto sell in place if it hit below let's say $250 got screwed because they essentially sold all their eth for 10 cents each since it flash crashed straight down to 10 cents from $300+. That being said, I'm staying clear of the digital currency market until some stabilization protocols are put into place. I don't have the stomach to ride that roller coaster. Congrats on whoever scored this print btw. This is fascinating... both parts!
First a guy takes a punt on there being a flash crash of Etherium and sets up the buy and sell orders - with a ridiculously low buy and a high sell. If it happens, he'll make over a million with a very small outlay. And unlike say placing a sporting accumulator bet, he doesn't even need to outlay anything until the flash crash happens!
Second, people place auto sell orders to limit their losses and protect them if prices fall, but if prices crash then they auto-sell for almost nothing - the very thing they set up to protect them is what ends up killing them... is it possible to set up a sell order that can recognise and NOT sell if there is a flash crash?
I do like the idea of placing low bets on things that have a massive payout if they happen... minimum risk, maximum reward.

I do like the idea of placing low bets on things that have a massive payout if they happen... minimum risk, maximum reward.

Felipe Pantone ๐ฆ๐ท Exhibition News โข Contemporary Art , by spirit on Jun 22, 2017 14:55:05 GMT 1, On the one hand you seem to be stating that the print techniques used are a cheap but flashy way to sell more prints to idiots:
Do you lot have any idea how cheap and simple it is to make a digital printout, you've been wearing ignorance like a badge of honour, this slick team can sell you anything. I'm sure there will be much more like this coming your way soon.
On the other you seem to be praising those very same techniques and are going to employ them yourself.
I felt irked by the fact that it seemed clear to me that there was much more to this than just a screen print, and I understand that to many of you this is irrelevant. I love how the glazed area is also raised by embossing, giving a convincing impression of thick paint. Digital and old methods combo is an incredible direction for art prints and I hope to try doing this myself.

Glastonbury Festival, by spirit on Jun 22, 2017 10:48:43 GMT 1, very well put mutatis Always so funny to see people saying "it ain't what it used to be"... You're right it ain't, but that doesn't mean that what it is isn't still appealing to a lot of people, and you can hardly blame a festival for bringing joy and amusement to a large number of folks. Saying "it was better back in the day" mostly shows how much of an old fart you are, oblivious to the fact that there are new festivals / happenings popping up all over the world, but you've not heard about them because you're too busy typing about how nostalgia ain't what it used to be A more interesting angle to this "ain't what it used to be" debate is whether any form of counterculture can survive without being absorbed by consumerism, and merchandising. I would strongly advise reading Debord's "Sociรฉtรฉ du spectacle" (am sure it has been translated) on this. Will also be very useful and though provoking for those who like to say this place ain't what it used to be

Felipe Pantone ๐ฆ๐ท Exhibition News โข Contemporary Art , by spirit on Jun 22, 2017 1:46:51 GMT 1, Art cave - you say some very sensible things like your post above, but you also say some things which are inevitably going to get people's backs up and bring hate your way like:
"Do you lot have any idea how cheap and simple it is to make a digital printout, you've been wearing ignorance like a badge of honour, this slick team can sell you anything. I'm sure there will be much more like this coming your way soon."
Surprisingly, people both individually and collectively, don't like being told you think they are ignorant and naive.
Regarding the print, the question that should be asked by the printer when asked to reproduce an existing original is "how can I best utilise the tools and techniques at my disposal to achieve the desired result" - in this instance I think the printer has excelled himself (and I say that as someone who has worked closely in a professional capacity with printers for 25 years).
You are right that the costs of production are a factor (one of many, and certainly not the main one) in the cost of the artwork, but I think you underestimate the costs associated with this particular print. Having 4 separate processes - screen printed background, then digital, then varnish, then emboss is a very different thing from just knocking out a digital or say a 4 colour screen print.

Jasper Johns ๐บ๐ธ Painter โข Pop Art, Abstract Expressionism , by spirit on Jun 21, 2017 14:52:15 GMT 1, Yes, I thought the same - except i did pick up the flag III as loved the colour of that one. btw - is it just me, or does anyone else see a man holding his massive p***s in the middle of the DEVICE print? seems a little out of place with the rest of the work somehow... flags, targets, numbers, coat hangers... and a massive p***s! I think you might be on your own there bro I'm not so sure - I just read that there are a lot of phallic references in his work and he took plaster casts of his body parts, including his dick.

Jasper Johns ๐บ๐ธ Painter โข Pop Art, Abstract Expressionism , by spirit on Jun 21, 2017 14:00:04 GMT 1, It's good to see some people buying the prints for the love of the art, the history and to actuallyframe and hang on their wall.Flippers buy any stuff they can flip and it's interesting the direction this thread has gone. I agree. I've bought 2, and I'm very grateful to OP for the heads up. These are the nearest thing I will ever get to a JJ print. Which 2 did you get Coach? I went back for a Target last night as could imaging kicking myself if it sold out while thinking about it...

Jasper Johns ๐บ๐ธ Painter โข Pop Art, Abstract Expressionism , by spirit on Jun 21, 2017 0:23:24 GMT 1, Thanks for the heads up, but am slightly perplexed as to why these are still available. Am I reading this correctly, there only 300 facsimiles for each litho, and they have been on sale for 4 years?? There were between 200 to 400 of each (depending on the print), printed in 1975, proofs overseen and approved by JJ, been on sale (rather quietly it seems) for 4 years. Now probably about to sell out in 4 days.

Jasper Johns ๐บ๐ธ Painter โข Pop Art, Abstract Expressionism , by spirit on Jun 20, 2017 23:16:27 GMT 1, Based on the size, and the fact they don't mention an edition number, I'd say it is from the same batch.

Jasper Johns ๐บ๐ธ Painter โข Pop Art, Abstract Expressionism , by spirit on Jun 20, 2017 23:12:06 GMT 1, So a print you can still buy for $150 dollars at source, sold framed for $2,640 (with buyers premium) at auction.
hahahaha! I wonder if seller was happy or upset that it didn't reach the $3-5k estimate
Agree it looks good though!
