Next to sell out?, by gm on Oct 5, 2006 12:22:25 GMT 1, You could go to the links page on www.dface.co.uk and follow the one to "The only site you'll ever need".
I think somebody on there posted a video clip of him on the News a couple of years ago, when he was talking about the Outside Institute.

Eine, by gm on Oct 7, 2006 16:20:59 GMT 1,
That's what I'd like to know.
They're very lovely letters, but they all scream at me: "I have a degree in graphic design, but absolutely no imagination"

Free POW Postcards, by gm on Nov 10, 2006 23:54:23 GMT 1, Well there's no point me registering on the forums if I only rarely have anything to say about the artists. And I'm not going to join one if I'm not particularly impressed by whoever it is.
I do most of my D*Face chat in the right place, tho

Unlimited print runs, by gm on Nov 7, 2006 13:04:27 GMT 1,
So why bother with prints at all? Several hundred other individuals will have exactly the same as you.

New Eine Stamp, by gm on Apr 5, 2006 22:07:36 GMT 1, There's a well old Eine tag high up on a wall along the railway just outside New Cross.
Too high up for the overpainting man to bother with I suppose.

POW website overhaul soon, by gm on Mar 26, 2006 23:45:24 GMT 1, >snip< Some new prints from D*Face would also help get the new website off to a good start
Saw a great D*Face canvas at Santa's Ghetto - a 'dog' flying into stonehenge. That'd make a great print (hint hint )

POW TECH PROBLEMS, by gm on Jun 20, 2006 15:16:21 GMT 1, Mary's one I ummed and ahhed over until it 'sold out' and then I kicked myself.
Having seen now that they're not quite sold out I ordered one last night, and got a confirmation email straight away.
However, 2 of my friends have ordered today and both had an email back saying that there was a problem with their order (but not specifying what the problem was). One of them phoned POW and whoever he spoke to (he didn't give a name) said she'd ring him back if it was the case that they'd really sold out now, but she hasn't called back so we're assuming that the 'problem' isn't that.
But just for peace of mind, does anyone have any idea how things stand at the mo? Cheers.

POW Information , by gm on May 3, 2006 16:51:38 GMT 1, You could turn the destruction into a piece of 'performance art'*...- have someone sitting in an exhibition space feeding them into a shredder one by one, or cutting them into tiny tiny pieces with scissors. Watch the distraught print collectors going "NOOOOOOOO!!! " as the pile of snippings builds up on the floor.
Then sell em little bags of shreds on their way out for a fiver or tenner a pop.
I bet they'd be all over ebay within 24 hours!
*I really hate that term.

POW Information , by gm on May 3, 2006 0:08:18 GMT 1, I reckon they should just go out and flypost all the overruns all over the city. Stick em up REAL good so people can't take them down without ripping em to pieces.
Again, great pics. Cheers ;D

Dolk โข Burger King โข King Charles, by gm on May 27, 2006 12:41:52 GMT 1, The Che's OK, but not OK enough for me to want it on my wall. The StarWars things just leave me cold. Hi gm, I think this really misses the point, not only about a genre based on street art but also about art in general.
Sorry, I thought we were talking about Dolk in particular rather than art in general. Of the POW prints, I won't be buying any because I don't like them enough. What's wrong with that? How am I missing any point? I'm not into "investment art" I only buy what I like, and what I want to look at day after day.
That theory only works if everybody likes and dislikes the same things all the time.
Art, like language, architecture, etc etc evolves. It's not static, and never should be. Just because I PERSONALLY don't like something, doesn't mean I'm dissing it, just that I PERSONALLY don't like it.
I wouldn't want a Constable either.
I think the StarWars pieces are very witty, they just do nothing for me. Neither do the movies. And I don't doubt Dolk's vision/talent, or that his work will evolve as he gains more life experience. Maybe I'll like one of his future pieces enough to want to own one, but at the moment...

Space Invader shop is open!, by gm on Mar 3, 2006 14:52:49 GMT 1, Looks like the Space Invaders are back in town. Spotted a really cool skull and x-bones piece today, and there's bits of space invaders sticky tape stuck on/round/over various bits of street furniture (I wonder if POW will be selling it soon?)
Pics later...

Space Invader shop is open!, by gm on Feb 22, 2006 17:28:20 GMT 1, Don't think I'd like em as prints, but I love the little brightly-coloured tiley things stuck in odd places.
There's at least 3 around the Covent Garden area.

You're probly all getting really pissed off..., by gm on Jun 6, 2007 16:10:28 GMT 1, It's a shame you missed the Exeter gig on Sunday just gone
I think that pic up there must be must be about '68/'69ish - he'll be 42 later this month.
The instores this week have been going well, but haven't been strictly "In Stores"... more like up and down streets and in other stores than the one he's actually set up in.
Earlier today:

According to this page: www.edinburghguide.com/festival/2004/fringe/review_music.php?page=h (about half way down) it could very well be!
The review's about my boy but the picture's the one you've used above.

You're probly all getting really pissed off..., by gm on Jun 5, 2007 22:22:01 GMT 1, Nice pics It was through seeing Roy that I got into Nick in the first place - he used to come on and join his dad for a couple of songs in the shows and I noticed that it was Nick doing most of the twiddly intricate stuff during those songs. "Hmm..." thought I, "He's gonna be worth keeping an eye on". The rest, as they say, is history.
Certain songs he sounds a lot more like his dad than others. He's certainly the better guitarist (imo).
Started young, and with a good teacher, tho
There's a few more tracks that you can download for free from his website: www.harperspace.com
And PLEASE, LONDON, come and see him on Friday - if you hate him I'll refund you twice your entry fee...

Please come.
Spot the granny and she might buy you a pint
