RichT is an absolute legend, by jackson.earth on Aug 1, 2008 12:12:56 GMT 1, Really nice work!
Seeing the new POW pieces last week I also felt completely disheartened by what's being produced at the moment, and the ridiculous prices being asked for frankly dull and unimaginative pieces - so thanks for giving me the heads up on these, brings a bit of light to my darkened corner.

grafter in the guardian., by jackson.earth on Jul 10, 2008 16:47:29 GMT 1, teaching is the key. skills that are both captivating and engaging, like art, music - or skills to make money - mechanic, electrician.. starting from 13 onwards in urban communities.. showing them that there are options and that society has a place for them, that using weapons is the cowards way out, imprinting that the best way that is possible, teaching them the skills to discuss disagreements positively, negotiation, compromise.. and getting role models from local communities that the gangs respect - changing their mindset and getting them to lead.. no one in a gang gives a s**t about prison, it only adds to their 'rep'.
politicians need to engage with communities in a far more in-depth way.
it's going to take time, but things will have to change - if they don't, there's some bad times ahead..
now back to the art..

grafter in the guardian., by jackson.earth on Jul 10, 2008 14:28:32 GMT 1, Big props to Grafter - whatever people think of his work, and there is some debate out there, he is an absolute top bloke. If it does end up on ebay - i'm sure it won't be an easy ride for the seller. Or I should say - I hope.
What would be good to see is artists doing some anti-knife/gun crime pieces on the walls out there - sure it may seem cliche, but if you're a teenager caught up in it, living your life day to day next to those same walls, if it's approached in the right way it can only be a good thing

Logan Hicks ๐บ๐ธ Stencil Artist โข Photographer โข Street Art, by jackson.earth on Jul 7, 2008 9:41:50 GMT 1, i went down on thursday - and thought the images were incredibly dull, offensive almost, in that here was a man who clearly had the technical skill so why treat us like idiots and produce a collection of some of the most uninteresting images ive ever seen.. and now i'm hearing about laser cutters, so essentially there's even less skill - which unfortunately means his work is dull and anyone with photoshop and a laser cutter and a few days on their hands could do the same - but hopefully they would use an interesting image to photoshop
i must stress this is only my opinion, and i'm sure there's loads of people who will disagree with me - quite why i don't know - but they will.
he uses layers, upon layers... yawn.

New Mau Mau up go get em kids!, by jackson.earth on May 28, 2008 16:18:03 GMT 1, dont want to rain on anyones parade - but i don't see the fuss about this piece, can someone let me in on the secret? i much prefer K-Guys work below and it's cheaper. Even Pure Evil's polar bear is a nicer piece, and that's only ok.

Hush - Geisha Girl Print, by jackson.earth on May 22, 2008 16:16:18 GMT 1, its all about the bagel shop with the white sign, the salt beef there is something special - having said that ive only been there after having downed a few pints so most food tastes good at that point. the queues at the gallery are going to be huge im sure, everyones after a print, even at the inflated prices - both artists have got some nice work, looking forward to trying to get one myself! Lets hope for all our sakes its not a Nick Walker - that queue was laughable, people in sleeping bags and camping chairs!

Banksy vs. Parla, by jackson.earth on May 21, 2008 16:57:08 GMT 1, their styles are completely different, well the work of parla i saw at elms lester last year was anyway, it doesnt make much sense to compare the two. its like asking whether you'd like a new tyre or a new fridge. and if you were asking that, i'd probably go for a new fridge.
parla's work was pretty impressive, that said, i'd much rather own a banksy, simply because most of his pieces have a statement attached to them as opposed to just being nice swirly lines of colour..
altho i'd rather a neate over both of them

is it me or is this cheap ?, by jackson.earth on May 19, 2008 16:32:19 GMT 1, up until about 3/4 years ago these were selling for ยฃ10 as an unlimited print run from pow and santas ghetto. so in one sense, it's kind of cheap for a banksy and hasn't gone up by the 1000%+ some of the 03/04 prints have - but on the other hand, there are literally thousands of these out there. it all depends on much you want it.

Banksy Bomb Middle England Print โข 2003 , by jackson.earth on May 1, 2008 13:18:34 GMT 1, I'm sorry to say I dont have any of the answers regarding bonhams as, to be honest, I didnt even know the BME print was sold at that auction. All I did know is the print i have rarely comes on the market, but thanks for all your info - youve all been a great help!
I guess now all ive got to do now is judge a) whether banksys prints will go up in value in the future b)if i even want the money over having a print and c)whether the few of you who are offering me 2.5K for a print people on the same page are saying is worth around 4K can actually read!
I may be ignorant, but im not an idiot!
Thanks again!

Banksy Bomb Middle England Print โข 2003 , by jackson.earth on Apr 30, 2008 21:50:30 GMT 1, Hi,
I have a Banksy 'Bomb Middle England' 2003 print which I bought about 6 years ago at Santas Ghetto.
It's numbered and has written email prov from POW.
I know it's a rare print, but I've no real idea of its value.
Just wondering if anyone knows what the market price would be?
Thanks for your help!
