INVADER - Rathbone Place - 14th Aug, by smallbylo on Aug 29, 2009 22:46:20 GMT 1, Hey all! I just need to share with all of you what happened yesterday to me! I'm feeling just like if I founded a unknown Bach music sheet in a garage sale! (sort of.. you know ) Yesterday I found in a wellknown art gallery in Spain one Invasion Kit that for the apparency seemed old... But i really didn't know how old... The price was... 95€. I knew it was a bargain but I didn't buy it cause I'm in the haaard mission of not buying anything more than great pieces that I reeaaaally "need", cause I don't want to flip and cause I've got two ik and lately I'm feeling less close to Invader than I was some time back... by the way, I thought I would go home and look on the web which one ik it was, if there were signed versions, etc... (if it was one of the very firsts ones maybe I would buy to complete my little ik collection... But when I went to the computer I realized It was one of the 350 copies of the IK Albinos Number 1 produced in 2000 !! I called one friend living near the gallery and he bought it for me quiiickly. They told him it was stored in the back for the last five years and that they decided to sell... I think at the same price it was five years ago. I'm an invader fan. As I said I've got two ik, almost all his books, two of his prints are hanging on my living room, and one original invader is beside my building door and i'm taking great care of it every day!... And now...woow ! The ik number one for that price! I'm so happy! That's soo near to the birth of the invasion!
With all my love and respect, lately i feel that invader is not evolving as much as I expect from him. I feel he is stucked in a place where he rounds and rounds... The last laz show is, i feel, and just for the pics I've seen, more of the same... I really don't get the popportraits. But as much as I love his vision, talent, and generosity, i will wait for the next move... Anyone feeling similar?
Oh, wow, it is a L.P post Good night, people!

Do you collect Sculptures?, by smallbylo on May 20, 2009 18:32:24 GMT 1, Mark Jenkins is one name to remember! and Invader is another one!
Jenkins pieces are amazing in the streets, but their brutal (in the positive and negative) impact to the people slows down when you put the piece inside home... The same with invader. (the same with almost everyone we love?)
Laz has pieces from both
You can buy Jenkins in Carmichael too
but If you like Jenkins, you've got to have a big home or no furniture.

Your Hit List 2009, by smallbylo on Dec 19, 2008 12:18:23 GMT 1, I'm so in love with Blu right now... That new pieces from the smart and talented man maybe will find a new home this year. Almost the same with Matt Small and... Mark Jenkins. (waiting for his "in construction" online store to get alive!)
I would like something from Other too, and I hope I will finally find one cheap unsigned faile Bunny Boy...
I'll be watching Supine, Btoy, Jr, San, Sam3, Limow, Remed, Elbow ... Ah! Somebody to stop me! My lists are always so long... Not yours?

Fairey Obama Time's cover , by smallbylo on Dec 19, 2008 11:37:07 GMT 1, I could not agree more with Fairey.
Copied from omg posters:
Starting today, you’ll be able to pick up Shepard Fairey’s newest Barack Obama illustration on almost every newsstand in the world. He has created the image for the cover of Time Magazine’s “Person of the Year” issue. Here is what he had to say about his involvement with the project:
“Tomorrow my illustration for Time Magazine’s “Person of The Year” hits the newsstands. While I’m very honored to be validated by a periodical that is nothing short of an American institution, the moment is bittersweet because I’m very disappointed by Obama’s appointment of Rick Warren to deliver his invocation during Obama’s inaugural address. Rick Warren is against gay marriage and reproductive rights, and he does not believe in evolution (maybe he offers himself as proof of lack of evolution). I understand that Obama is trying to appeal to conservatives and evangelicals, but this move is symbolically a slap in the face to many people. Warren is not a uniter, but a divider… he is intolerant in many of his views. I still think Obama is the best choice for president, but I can’t condone Warren’s involvement in Obama’s inauguration, no matter how insignificant it is. While I’m on the subject of gay marriage, I will be donating a chunk of the proceeds from an inauguration poster of Obama I was asked to create to the movement to overturn Prop 8. At first I was considering pulling my inauguration poster, but I think re-directing funds from it to put into a cause I care about is actually more constructive. Plus, I wouldn’t want withdrawing the image to come across as a blanket boycott of Obama. I’m sure I will ultimately disagree with Obama about many things, but I think I will agree with him on more. I think it is important to speak one’s mind, but also to not let the narcissism of petty differences sabotage our unity and progress.”

Want to Buy:: JUDITH SUPINE, by smallbylo on Dec 14, 2008 14:53:43 GMT 1, A very strange piece from Supine is this one from the new Brooklyn Block Party at Ad Hoc Gallery. (An exhibition of original hand cut blocks, both wood and lino, along with the prints pulled from each block. adhocart.org/index.php)
I don't like very much the piece beside the pink nails... for me, it feels like a very first attempt to a new technique... By the way, it's great to see the artists trying new things...
