Art Car Boot Fair, by toshspice on May 14, 2021 16:19:15 GMT 1, ... it was a good, if not great day out ... so long as it did not rain ... and you don't mind buying off paste up tables ... ... set the expectations low, spend the whole day ... rather than scrambling or even fighting over the 'in' piece ... and you would enjoy the day ... ... last year and the on-line experience was a total disaster ... and they did not help themselves ... they lost a lot of good will ... ... I think this year, people are giving it a miss ... and waiting for the old times in person ... ... artists sold direct and off their own websites in the end ... ... I haven't signed up and will wait til next year ... Fell off cliff after leaving the Truman Brewery Not true. A well-attended ACBF in Margate a couple of years back was all the better for being out of London. The shift to online has been problematic, but I feel for them as they are dealing with so many variables. The live events still are worth a visit, once the elbows-out art nannas-at-a-jumble-sale bargain snatchers have grabbed their flippables.

Sotheby's Art Auctions โข NEW YORK ๐บ๐ฒ, by toshspice on May 13, 2021 16:42:00 GMT 1, Would be a different matter if it was on canvas. I think they misjudged what people would spend on a work on board. Condition is pretty poor. It looks like it was pulled from a wall.

Best source to find out new signed artists, by toshspice on May 2, 2021 8:04:05 GMT 1, Hello, Do you know which source of knowledge is the best to follow in order to find out everytime an artist just signed or will most likely sign to be represented by a big art gallery (Perrotin, Gagosian ,Kai Kai Ki Ki, zwirner, etc) ? I know it's possible by following for example the Instagram of each gallery but I need a unique source so it will be more convenient ! And for sure Instagram does this announcements later than other sources with more insights that have hearsay intels. Thank you so much ๐๐๐ Here you go:

Banksy 'Subject to availability' Christies June 20th, by toshspice on Apr 15, 2021 11:07:46 GMT 1, Damn...some amazing pieces in this auction. It's not an auction, it's a private sale, so it's unlikely we'll know what these eventually sell for. The LITA stencil at Sotheby's NYC next month will be the next important public barometer of value for these types of originals.

Banksy liita and riot cop at Sothebyโs , by toshspice on Apr 11, 2021 16:24:07 GMT 1, I saw a version of this LITA on white background with coloured flowers at Santa's Ghetto in 2006. Couldn't stretch to the ยฃ6k they were asking for the LITA canvas so bought myself a couple of Flying Copper and Police Kids prints at around ยฃ80 each instead. Currently looking for a time machine and a credit card.

Banksy liita and riot cop at Sothebyโs , by toshspice on Apr 11, 2021 9:05:42 GMT 1, Estimate for LITA is $3-$5 million. That's a big leap for a stencil. Be interesting to see what this does for the original market.

TateWard โข Art Auctions ๐ฌ๐ง, by toshspice on Mar 27, 2021 10:31:32 GMT 1, They could not have put through so many fakes without knowing.....the list is just too long and over too much time. As people have said, I do agree it's up to the buyer to do their due diligence, BUT the reason you go to an auction house and pay the premium is because you would HOPE that they would have done some already. Otherwise take your chances on eBay. The lesson here is to stick to the legacy houses. What makes you think the legacy houses are immune?

TateWard โข Art Auctions ๐ฌ๐ง, by toshspice on Mar 27, 2021 10:25:55 GMT 1, A large number of people on here have had a positive experience selling and buying with Tate Ward and let's face it, they will happily accept consignments that many other auction houses wouldn't (and get some decent results). A similar number of people here have an axe to grind when they see people like Danny making a success of their business. Clearly mistakes have been made (Petrol Bomb-gate, non-editioned Warhol's, etc) but unless I have missed something, Danny has provided a clear level of detail around resolution and has followed this through? so thatโs it? they get a pass? cause they paid back, at cost, most of the money they defrauded ppl out of? so the PB i bought in 2018 that would b worth 4k now (a real version at least) they gave me back my buy price of 650ยฃ n thatโs that? no harm no foul? they get 2 reinvest all that stolen money into real banksy, watch it appreciate, sell at massive profit, then refund some ppl n weโre good 2 go? business as usually? man i should move 2 the UK, things run wayyyyyyyyyyy different in nyc, but in UK ppl who own, co-own, whatever, auction houses r allowed 2 rob hundreds of thousands of pounds thru trackable public auction house n private sales, the same ppl, n thereโs ZERO repercussions? sounds like the fkn wild west 2 me.... plus the fact u guys that know this 4 fact, live out there right next 2 these guys, see these ppl in the real world, n still chose 2 do business with them? wow, just.... wow. You're never 100% safe from fake art anywhere in the world, at all levels of the game, whatever tier auction house you're dealing with.
In 2014 Switzerlandโs Fine Art Expert Institute (FAEI) claimed that at least half of the artwork circulated in the market is fake.
When the big names get caught out they tend to sue the consignor.

Banksy concept for barely legal poster, by toshspice on Mar 26, 2021 14:12:53 GMT 1, If that's the case then explain how this De Kooning sold for ยฃ100m. I know your point, but comparing/constrasting one of the most important paintings of the 20th century to this Banksy is kinda funny (and most important because of the Woman series, this particular one is lesser but at the time it sold I think it might have been the only one still in private hands). Even funnier, 50 years from now it could be appropriate. Personally, one of my greatest art experiences was seeing De Kooning's 'Woman' series reunited at his MoMA retrospective. I believe it was their first reunion since originally show at Sidney Janis Gallery in 1953. Do you think Banksy will be seen as one of the most important artists of the 21st Century?

Banksy concept for barely legal poster, by toshspice on Mar 26, 2021 8:17:46 GMT 1, ยฃ2.6million. Really badly sold by Sothebyโs. Described as a concept for a poster when in reality it was a signature painting in a seminal exhibition in LA. I hear ya but there were so many amazing pieces from this show and this one just felt like a Los Angeles reference that was thrown together because the show was in LA, which is fine. Iconic, but most other pieces there were certainly stronger and more representative If itโs iconic then itโs important. Sothebyโs didnโt talk that up. Thatโs called selling. They badly undersold it. Historically, Barely Legal was a turning point for Banksy.

Banksy concept for barely legal poster, by toshspice on Mar 25, 2021 21:10:56 GMT 1, Never liked this piece tbh, and it's up against some serious, serious works, makes it look pretty weak. One less morons - one purposely burnt , by toshspice on Mar 10, 2021 13:01:55 GMT 1, The salient point is that its value is based on its rarity, not its longevity. You're getting closer to understanding the underlying concepts. Keep going! Looking forward to seeing your collection of non- biodegradable styrofoam cups.

One less morons - one purposely burnt , by toshspice on Mar 10, 2021 11:22:22 GMT 1, In the meantime, you can still get view one free on the internet. What's your point? The salient point is that the blockchain will echo in eternity around the universe and transmit to other galaxies and solar systems long after mere markings on primitive wood based substrates have been forgotten about. True, some scraps of paper may survive and be hoarded and protected by the faithful through the aeons. The salient point is that its value is based on its rarity, not its longevity.

One less morons - one purposely burnt , by toshspice on Mar 10, 2021 11:10:16 GMT 1, So it's valuable because its unique and people can't get a copy of the digital asset that shows the Banksy being burned. The digital asset that's currently being shared all over the internet for free. The ERC-721's tokens that we own on the ETH blockchain will echo in eternity. They will outlast primitive pieces of printed paper. In the meantime, you still get view this one free on the internet.
