Shepard Fairey "Hi Fidelity", by twist65 on Apr 29, 2016 12:46:39 GMT 1, Also his HPMS are not going for $8k. MY buddy just purchased an HPM with an edition of 6 for $3600. Who would buy this for a coffee table lol. Shep needs to start making new images or his worth will start to decline art wise. His brand will still be fine. That hype crap wont work here unless its "Stik" His HPM'S are going for $40K and up! Shepard does his pricing by size and actual Hand Finishing that goes into his images! These I think were $35K and up! What your buddy received was a Silkscreen on wood with minimal hand finishing and yes those are $3.6 at the moment. His prices just keep rising every show he does so get in while you can. Also these HPM'S are truly one of one's where the others are editions of 6! It started out with editions of 2 then 3 and now 6 just to support the demand for his fine art. I won't even go into the pricing at Pace Prints which is through the roof however the Metal relief pieces were truly stunning in person! If these were $8K I'd be all over them How can a Hand Painted Multiple be a 1/1 ??!!

Art Print Storage in Plan Chests, by twist65 on Apr 16, 2016 0:20:05 GMT 1, I've not used these and their site isn't commerce, but mentions they do glassine paper and acid free tissue paper on the roll, so that should be wide enough, worth an enquiry:

Paul Insect "It's only a Dream" Allouche Gallery, by twist65 on Apr 11, 2016 13:13:09 GMT 1, That's an interesting point and not without merit. I would also be very disappointed if people queued to buy a print and then did not even spend time looking at the show, but it does not surprise me.
What I would say is if they had no interest in the print and handled them as implied then they would have been better off not selling them at all.
Artists and galleries underestimate the value of the print market - and customers - at their peril. You only have look at the revenue Kaws now generates from a drop. On another note, this forum used to be full images from shows and I'm not talking about reproducing price list images but actual shots of hung work in the gallery It seems no-one bothers these days for whatever reason which is a huge shame and makes the forum feel very disconnected. Have you actually read this thread? There are at least 3 or 4 sets of quality images from the gallery posted by forum members, either on the thread or links to sets hosted elsewhere..

Paul Insect "It's only a Dream" Allouche Gallery, by twist65 on Apr 11, 2016 10:03:59 GMT 1, Doesn't sound like Allouche have done a lot wrong here to me, apart from put on one of the shows of the year, and release 4 prints in 1 day which weren't all snapped up by VIPs days beforehand (I am sure they have a decent sized mailing list and NY collector base who would have been happy to buy these). Everyone who wanted a print seemed to get one, and I haven't seen anyone say they had a damaged print either...
If anyone is going today and could pick me up a standard ed Meteor Nights I would be grateful to you forever, please PM me X

Parra Vase - Vaso di Culo, by twist65 on Mar 31, 2016 14:22:44 GMT 1, if you're in Amsterdam on Saturday then there's a few ceramic bottoms amongst other things available at his pop-up shop. In person only. They were doing free risograph prints too last week not sure if they're still available but were nice ones..
From the email - Pop Up Store, upcoming week: #PARRAINYOURHOME
This Saturday we open our doors again with a fresh new theme for the week. Next to our Spring clothing collection there will be a good portion of our 2015 homeware goods. Some of them were considered sold out but we saved some for this special occasion. There will also be new products such as tea towels, made at the Dutch Textile Museum, new sketch and note books that are covered with recycled deadstock t-shirts. Each book is unique, most of them A5 sized and a few in A4.
All stock is limited and no reservations can be made. First come, first served.
We open at 11 am, Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal 142 in Amsterdam. (Sun will be shining)

Eelus 3D Lenticular "Not Everything Is So Black & White", by twist65 on Mar 22, 2016 14:22:20 GMT 1, Personally I don't see how lenticular printing will particularly improve this image, but will be interesting to see. They could look amazing, or they could as someone posted previously look like glorified cereal boxes..
However Eelus is perfectly within his rights to rework a previous print image for a new medium. I don't remember him signing the image rights over to the 100 or so print collectors when he released the screen printed version.. D*Face didn't get dogs abuse when he did the DSTQ lenticulars, although I think that image makes more sense as a lenticular. Look at the likes of Obey, Faile, Jamie Reid, James Cauty etc. Artists revisit previous works all the time and if Eeelus has been playing with lenticular printing and felt that this image worked really well, then thats his right its his creation! Personally I would have done a much lower edition starting at £3k but I think his only crime here is being in bed with Art Republic and letting them steer him on edition size and price. He seems to have a good relationship with them though, with the previous print BBQ events etc, so again its kind of up to him what he does..
edit - wish i'd read his statement above before writing this post! =]

Did Banksy number his prints?, by twist65 on Mar 1, 2016 22:01:03 GMT 1, number them? - he didn't even sign half of them himself!!
I wonder if he numbers Dumbo etc himself, maybe its worth the effort now its low editions for high prices..

Parra Vase - Vaso di Culo, by twist65 on Mar 1, 2016 14:39:33 GMT 1, Plenty of people on here have followed him a while and there's normally lots of positivity on exhibition threads etc (remember those 1 colour risographs he did at a show not long ago). I don't think he's being hyped on here at all. Probably because you can't flip his prints - his first POW one still has plenty available. I think the spike in interest is that his ceramics are quality and they maybe appeal to a more broader spectrum of collectors. You can also bung it straight on your mantle piece rather than pay to get framed or sit in a flat file which I think appeals to some too.
Lets face it who can refuse the appeal of a ceramic arse?
