Are we in an Art Market Bubble?, by Cardiff on Dec 10, 2023 17:00:24 GMT 1, Flying out of Miami after a full day of Basel yesterday and the vibe there was BUY…nearly every gallery we visited with was having an “incredible” fair. Not suggesting this is indicative of the broader economy, but the sense I got was that the high end primary market for art is still moving at a strong clip.

Pejac - New show - NYC, by Cardiff on Nov 17, 2023 14:48:19 GMT 1, Had a chance to pop in this week and really enjoyed the show. This was my first time seeing Pejac's work in person and I thoroughly enjoyed the art, venue, and people (Kristin was a great guide).
As it relates to the work...
I felt like the oils were stunning...Under Pressure and Peak were much stronger in person than what I saw in the preview and pics (Peak had so much depth and 3 dimensionality) and Renaissance and Deer Hunter were amazing...my two favorite pieces in the show. Social Warming didn't do that much for me...actually made me anxious thinking about how long it must have taken to paint thousands of tiny people. Zombies was very cool and connecting it to Dali (elephants) added a level of interest that I missed on first pass...made me think of the works on wood from Venice and how great they must be in person. I also felt the Passepartout series (chunks of melting ice over charcoal works) were much larger and more interesting than what I felt the preview represented.
The surprise work to me that totally overdelivered what I had seen in pics was Hope (flag piece). The gold leaf finish was amazing and constantly changing depending on angle and lighting and the work had that perfect balance of "the world is falling apart and tattered" while also injecting some hopefulness with the bird. The bee piece was very cool and clever but took me back to that Black Mirror episode w robotic bees which freaked me out.
My least favorite works were the Fin series on palettes. I liked that they displayed them horizontally and they were beautiful, but felt like the previous "vortex" palette pieces that I'd seen were significantly more interesting.
Full disclosure, I bought my first Pejac work from this show. I'm not a fanboy, but walked away really impressed and hopeful for a great career for such a talented and thought provoking artist.

Christie's Art Auctions , by Cardiff on Sept 28, 2023 21:43:58 GMT 1, Do the results include premium? I could not see any indication one way or another. Either way, a very mixed bag. The most sought after prints from several artists (Banksy, Shrigley, Hirst, Miller),generally are doing well as long as they were not priced at 2022 estimates. Mid tier prints are struggling. Less desirable prints not getting bids at all. A flight to quality it seems. Yep, prices include BP Yikes...didn't realize that.

Sainer 🇵🇱 Print Release • Show News • Art For Sale, by Cardiff on Aug 24, 2023 15:58:14 GMT 1, Greetings all. I’m not sure if there is much interest in original Sainers works at this time but I am throwing this out there as I’m looking to possibly sell or trade this work, Titled ‘A’ - done on canvas which measures roughly 20 x 27” from 2018 - original owner purchased from a group showing. If you’d like to discuss further please submit an offer. Would also consider trades for Bäst, Phil Frost, McGee or Faile original works. Love this piece...GLWTS!

Your latest Art Purchase?, by Cardiff on Jul 30, 2023 1:58:09 GMT 1, Been holding onto these for a while, finally got them framed up: Charming Baker Jochen Mühlenbrink And found the perfect spot for this original from Jérôme Masi! I actually built this ladder shelf up years ago with this sort of thing in mind. Great framing on the Baker...is that a print or original (haven't been keeping up with his output)?
