POW packaging, by Ågentßacardi on Mar 20, 2007 5:35:40 GMT 1, I've had terrible luck with shipping altogether. I just got DHL to pay me for a banksy print they destroyed from the UK to US, and on the very same day received a damaged monster print. It never ends for me...fortunately POW takes care of its customers with replacements unlike DHL who seem to try to make it as difficult as possible to collect on damages. What's funny about the monsters print from POW though is that the tube wasn't damaged at all, but rather it looks like someone took it out, then when replacing it in the tube didn't get it all the way in, but put the lid on anyway, smashing one of the edges.... Wish there was a better way to get prints to the US..
That's mighty unfortunate. I've purchased quite a few prints from POW (to Los Angeles), the tubes have always been left unsealed at the ends, but I've had no prints damaged thus far, which I've always thought was quite miraculous. I've been lucky, I guess.
Just wondering: Do you have a postman with a bad attitude? The reason I ask is because I've previously had a bad experience with a particularly nosy postman who would basically open unsealed packages to see what was inside. A few neighbors and I got together, caught him in the act one day, and reported his arse. He got fired, and we got a much nicer, more respectful postman and haven't had any damaged packages ever since. Perhaps your postman is shady like that too?

Banksy Morons Print, by Ågentßacardi on Apr 25, 2007 7:08:27 GMT 1, Quite an amusing POW boo-boo story for everyone... one of my buddies managed to buy a signed Morons (not sepia), and received it yesterday. BUT... that wasn't all he received.
He was supposed to get number XYZ/150 of the signed one, and that's what he got. However, he also received another tube, containing XYZ/500 from the unsigned edition!
One curious thing though... the number, XYZ, is actually below 150 (quite a ways below, it was even way below 140)... which means it probably overlapped with a number that was used in the LA release. I have an LA print (not Morons) which was just a few numbers below this XYZ... which makes me wonder: How do they number the prints? Do they just read off the Protx printout/database, refer to which customer gets what number, grab a print, and write that number into the stamp without much thought (I can see how this chore can become robotic after a while)? Because otherwise... if they had pre-numbered the prints beforehand, and then allocated the print to each customer according to the Protx database, number XYZ/500 in the unsigned edition would never have happened. And even if Protx had screwed up and said that my buddy should have received XYZ/500 of the unsigned edition, it wouldn't have existed, and they would have caught the problem...
Quite puzzling!

Banksy Morons Print, by Ågentßacardi on Apr 24, 2007 4:16:20 GMT 1, my first post .... (was trying to wait until 2008 when prez monkeyman is finished destroying us)... received my first banksy, i'm in los angeles and got it in the mail today. let me tell you how happy I am with the print. it looks stunning. i was worried, like many, that i was going to be hanging a fresh chuck of banksy pooooo. this is not the case. i will post pics later. also if anybody in the los angeles area knows of a good trustworthy framer (not crazy expensive) please let me know. maybe "AgentBacardi" you might have a recommendation. i am also waiting on a "Ghetto Ghost" and would like to take them both in later this week. i'm going back to salivate over my new print.
I hope you weren't literal about salivating over your print! ;D I live in Studio City, so that's where my framer is. Where do you live? He does a great job, and really knows Banksy works. He's not insanely cheap however, with a single mat and a single frame, I would estimate about $170 for your morons (before tax - TO HELL WITH UNCLE SAM!!). Anyway, if Studio City is far from where you live, then nevermind

Banksy Morons Print, by Ågentßacardi on Apr 23, 2007 0:34:25 GMT 1, Well I got my Sepia out tonight to unroll it and I noticed some paint marks on the back of the print and a tiny one on the front border. Is this normal? The rest of the print is perfect.
It's pretty common to see those at the back, but not in the front for obvious cosmetic reasons. I'm sure POW would replace it for you if you wanted

Looks like there is some color in the print after all - in the numbers on the auctioneer's pedestal. I can't wait for mine!! Dammit, it has to fly across the $%&@ing pond!!!

Banksy Morons Print, by Ågentßacardi on Apr 13, 2007 1:31:11 GMT 1, my stretch pulp has been done twice this year & still not perfect. better explain the s**t (or lack of ) thing to the non americans been pretty busy this year & don't get half the time on-line now ...but i do pop in when i can & see whats occuring in the world of art/gossip/pow/junkies peace to all
Looks like maintenance will be a long-term issue, huh?
An explanation for the constipation joke for everyone else (if they care): "Senna" is the name of a genus of plants that are used in making laxatives (it's the active ingredient in Senokot), but Senna actually picked his user name after Aytron Senna, whom he is a big fan of
But I love teasing him about it anyway! ;D
Great to see you come around buddy! Hope all is well with ya!!

Banksy Morons Print, by Ågentßacardi on Apr 13, 2007 0:57:24 GMT 1, was-sup AB? I'm really sorry to say that there is nothing any of us can do Vis-à-vis the ripple in a framed paper print. The more colour/paint, the worse it can be. personally, every print i own regardless of size is flat the minute i get it. but this actually has very little if any affect on whether a print will ripple when framed or not. they are printed on paper; paper is organic containing moisture.it loses that mosture over time irregularly. you get the picture. short of getting them re-pressed every now & then...thats the way it is. f**kin gets on my nerves too my 20p's worth
Hello there cure for constipation Senna!
How the hell have you been man?? Great to hear from ya!!!
So your prints are getting ripply too? Man, that really sucks... how do they do it in the museums - do they simply get them repressed routinely?
Well at least there's a bit of good news - it's got nothing to do with keeping prints rolled up in a tube for a long time (although you still shouldn't do it, there's plenty other reasons for that!).
So annoying and tragic, though

Banksy Morons Print, by Ågentßacardi on Apr 13, 2007 0:29:09 GMT 1, For those that are saying some prints that have been rolled in the tube for a long time are rippling when framed...are your using mats/mounts in the frame or are you trying to float mount them? Reason I ask is this thread is making me nervous - I've got many prints I've been waiting to frame until I move into a bigger place -- some of the prints (a la signed CND Soldiers) have been waiting since purchase -- over a year. God help me if I have a rippling problem with any of them. I'm so close to moving now that I'd rather not take any of them out of the tubes to store them -- may as well just leave them where they are for a couple more weeks than risk denting them. Please somebody tell me that they've had prints in tubes for long periods and the prints have turned out fine.
For me, they I used mats/mounts. And they're still rippled. I'm very upset about that The only prints I've float mounted were my LA prints (Trolley Hunters and Festival), and they've remained in pristine condition ever since they were framed (Since last September). The prints that got all ripply started doing so practically a day after I collected them from the framer.
Don't mean to scare you buddy, but I'd really advise you to try to find a way to straighten out your prints for a period of time before you frame them. Good luck with the new place, and be sure to post pics after you've gotten them all framed up and hung up!

Banksy Morons Print, by Ågentßacardi on Apr 12, 2007 23:49:27 GMT 1, Hey bro, When I had a similar problem I actually roolled it the "other" way and put it back in the tube for a day... following that I then put it in an art folder flat for a week and the 'undulations' on my Jack & Jill disappeared. Be VERY careful rolling iside oout though and try and just just it flat if you can
I'm gonna need to take it out of the frame to do that... but I'm afraid to do it myself - remember your Love is in the Air disaster, Mr. lesroy? Haha!
(P/S. Thanks for replying to my PM - you've lost 10 points in my book )

Banksy Morons Print, by Ågentßacardi on Apr 12, 2007 23:35:37 GMT 1, Yep. It concerns me, but not too sure what to do. It still looks awesome in its frame to be fair, but my eye keeps getting drawn to the 'curves' that just shouldn't be there. It was at the gallery for 4 weeks being flattened, so in fairness I don't think there was much more that they could have done. I guess the moral is to keep the prints flat - particularly the scalping brigade who are holding onto their prints until they see fit to cash in.
It's so painful, isn't it? It happened to my Napalm and Jack & Jill. I'm thinking of bringing it back to my framer to have it remounted... I talked to my framer about it and he keeps saying it's because of poor paper quality. He even suggested that I get glued on to the back mount (dunno the technical term)!! Sacrilege!!! But I don't wanna bring it to another framer and spend more money fixing it, especially if it's gonna keep happening! Ugh. Dilemma.

Banksy Morons Print, by Ågentßacardi on Apr 12, 2007 21:37:44 GMT 1, Im usually a very impatient b*stard who wants it on my wall yesterday (ie Applause and Friendly Fire) The two week wait is torture. However yes i do keep the unframed ones flat. Gotta be done.. ;D
I know what you mean, I'm very impatient too! But if you're skint, there's nothing your impatience can do! ;D
I think it's perfectly alright for the ones that freshly arrived from POW to head straight from the tube to the framers, 'cos they've only been in the tube for a few days and will straighten up easily enough.
I don't know if it's just me, but I've noticed that if you frame a print that has been coiled up in a tube for a long time, it'll start rippling. Happened to a couple of my prints that I bought off eBay, which the previous owners have left in the tube since the day of purchase. Wonder if that had anything to do with the rippling.

Banksy Morons Print, by Ågentßacardi on Apr 12, 2007 21:07:59 GMT 1, The guy at my shop always starts grinning when i walk in with a poster tube.. So it ok to take prints in rolled up? I was thinking maybe I'd have to take them in flat.
Personally, whenever I receive a print, I do not necessarily have the money to get them framed right away. So I store them flat until I do... and when it's time to get them framed, I usually just carry the print to the framer without a tube, i.e., flat.

Before you know it you'll be making regular visits to your framer, pondering over profiles, mount board colours and textures, and even types of glass, then you'll really know you're hooked! ;D
And your framer will fall in $love$ with you. Like mine did.

Morons in the U.S.?, by Ågentßacardi on Apr 21, 2007 3:44:25 GMT 1, Has far as I can see we only have 1 moron over here and he will be out off office next year. Lets hope we don't elect another Moron! 1 ? what about the 62 million that voted him in ?.. that's what we and the rest of the world are counting
This president wasn't elected, he was selected. This whole darn country's a bloomin' mess
Well actually... America IS full of morons. They're all located in the red states in the middle ;D

Morons in the U.S.?, by Ågentßacardi on Apr 20, 2007 20:56:58 GMT 1, Got it yesterday, but there's a dog-ear in the bottom left hand corner So instead of the framers, I'm gonna have to send it back to POW, wait another 2 weeks, and THEN go to the framers.
*sigh*

Beautiful losers, by Ågentßacardi on Mar 30, 2007 9:50:54 GMT 1, It's madness isn't it, all this art and link to the original site has been discussed on this forum weeks if not months ago. Any one who wanted any of the prints could have bought one for nearly half the price than POW are selling for, then POW list them and BANG mad scrabble everyone wants one and they're sold out really quick. It's just so wrong.
It's madness!!! I think POW has become a brand... Prints will sell out quickly even if they're crap *cough*blackMona*cough*, provided they're sold through POW.
Kinda treading rather closely to the capitalist agenda, huh... But to be fair to POW, I don't think they orchestrated this to a T. They've created a monster without even realizing it!

Beautiful losers, by Ågentßacardi on Mar 29, 2007 18:53:56 GMT 1, Everything seems to sell on POW regardless.
Now now, let's not forget a certain artist whose name begins with a 'Z' ;D

Guesstimates on new releases on POW?, by Ågentßacardi on Apr 19, 2007 21:53:56 GMT 1, I think that predicting a release is about as good as predicting the weather... PoW doesn't appear to act on a schedule, and it's all random. They'll do it when the time is right for them. So trying to figure out and anticipate the next release date is quite a waste of energy, IMO I used to do it all the time and came out with all sorts of theories, but my patience has since been worn out with all the futility, and I am now officially jaded in this aspect. Haha!
