FAILE - NEW PRINTS, by Ågentßacardi on Mar 19, 2007 19:03:43 GMT 1, Haha! CBL's a posting whore! ;D You'd be ahead of me AB, if you hadn't had a break from the forum and you know it
Alright... guilty as charged! ;D
Took a break 'cos my ex cheated on me and we broke up (we were together for 3.5 years) and I did the whole "I'm never gonna live again" sob/whine fest. Slowly crawling back on my feet again. Who needs relationships when you've got Banksys?
(Ok, I'll admit... I do. )

Eelus leaves POW/joins USPS/goes all CNPD shock!, by Ågentßacardi on Apr 3, 2007 1:22:58 GMT 1, you should try a UK post office, 10 windows and only ever two of them manned / womanned and that's at lunchtime when it's busy, imagine what they'd earn for all that wasted real estate in the city centre.. Morons... Actually sounds just like the USPS... They don't hurry for anyone and they seem to move as slow as possible, like they are trying to do the least work they can during their shift..
That sounds EXACTLY like the USPS! Why build 10 windows if only 2 are in use at any one time?!? What bugs me even more is how even if it's super-busy and only 2 windows are open, they chit-chat with people and take their own sweet time. Get up, disappear in the back room, come back 15 minutes later, serve one customer, stand up, stretch, talk with co-worker... while the line is going out the street.
GGGGRRRRRRR!!!

POW Price Increase, by Ågentßacardi on Apr 3, 2007 22:45:45 GMT 1, heres a theory....... grannies was £200 and applause was £300, but morons was £250. do you think POW made a mistake at listing Grannies at £200 and tried to get the money back by releasing applause for a extra £50. I know applause is bigger and that but werent the LA prints sold in LA all the same price? .......................
Yes, all the LA prints that sold in LA were the same price
Actually, the unsigned POW releases so far have been cheaper than what they cost in LA, with the exception of Applause. All prints were US$500 a pop at Barely Legal... POW Grannies sold for the equivalent of US$394.70, POW Morons for US$493.37, and POW Applause for $592.05.
Totally pointless trivial information, I know... but there you have it anyway! ;D

POW Price Increase, by Ågentßacardi on Mar 30, 2007 0:21:09 GMT 1, 2 days ago this forum was very quiet. Lots of new people with big views all of a sudden. And what's bad about that? Don't want to get all stagnant and inbred here, do we? Welcome aboard, n00bz. Now... < cranky old git mode > POW are a business, not a charity, get over it and move on. Nobody's being forced or made to sit at their PCs pressing F5 F5 F5 and then getting stroppy when the system crashes because of the amount of people pressing F5 F5 F5. It's like sitting in your stationary car on the M25 and moaning about the bloody traffic, or going up Glastonbury Tor and thinking it'd be nicer if there weren't so many tourists That said, I'm genuinely sorry for those who got prints in their baskets that later vanished - better luck next time!
This old git speaks sense! ;D

POW message, by Ågentßacardi on Mar 30, 2007 9:30:21 GMT 1, Friday 30th March We are aware that yesterday a few people experienced hiccups in the ordering process. This was due to the anti-touting computer getting a bit hot under the collar. Sorry if you were affected, it was only trying to help. All morons prints are now sold out.
That's the final word on that, then
"a few people"? That's understating it quite a bit, innit?

POW are a joke, by Ågentßacardi on Mar 29, 2007 20:33:55 GMT 1, i agree there was little they could do to avoid the onslaught of hits but there is everything they could do about making sure that their system didn't time out on people desperately trying to checkout after being as you say lucky. that's not fairness, that's just cruelty Especially after an hour and half of trying to check out a print that you can see the number of and have an order number as well. Thats just a wind up. I did think it was interesting they added the signed Sepia edition. I wonder if the unsigned Trollies will be the like the LA ones and then a new signed colour edition. Now there's a thought.
I think that's what they'll end up doing! 400 of the remaining 500 of the LA edition, plus 150 signed, and perhaps 300 (or more) of the signed color trollies. I think it's a great idea to expand the total number of prints by introducing variants (such as sepia Morons), 'cos more people can get it - in theory. With the current system though, they could release an edition of 10,000 and I think the site still won't be able to handle the traffic! The biggest issue right now is traffic, not supply...

Next release from Banksy on POW?, by Ågentßacardi on Apr 3, 2007 9:46:31 GMT 1, Isn't Jamie Hewlett the majority shareholder for POW.... This could therefore support the idea that POW are not in it purely for the money (although it's very important!), it could be Jamie's way of helping other artists gain exposure, as he is also highly established himself This is only a thought, and I may also be incorrect about the majority shareholding claim.......
I think POW started with that very purpose - to help artists gain the exposure they deserve... and so that art fans can get the art they want without breaking the bank, which is why they're still keeping the price of Banksy prints much much lower than 'market' prices. I don't think they anticipated being as successful as they got today! At least, that's what I think. Could be wrong of course... nobody can answer that question exactly except for the POW people

Next release from Banksy on POW?, by Ågentßacardi on Apr 3, 2007 1:08:20 GMT 1, Personally, I think POW will never stop selling Banksy prints, at least for the forseeable future. Why? Quite simply... you can't have "The Banksy Effect" without Banksy!
Banksy prints are the main source of craziness - I believe no other artist on POW have caused a ghastly frenzy that is as big as when Banksy prints are being released (as of late). His infamy has a lot to do with why other artists' stars are soaring right now. I'm not saying that Banksy is better than all the other POW artists, it's just that instant fame happened to Banksy (it could've well been anyone else, Micallef for instance), and that attracted scores of people to POW, which exponentially expanded the exposure of all the other POW artists. If you take Banksy away from the equation, it's like putting out the fire in the furnace. POW will continue to be successful along with a few front-running artists that have finally gotten the exposure they deserved, but it won't be as successful as compared to if Banksy still called POW his home.
I believe that Banksy has inadvertently (or not, it's debatable) constructed a much-needed stage on which other deserving POW artists (and other street artists for that matter) can finally stand on. Which is why I think Banksy is a crucial cogwheel and hence indispensible at this moment (and I actually believe that the greatest goal of POW is to promote artist exposure, not £££ per se). Things may be different after some time (perhaps by the time that all LA prints have been released) when other POW or street artists have gotten enough exposure to fuel the fire on their own. THEN Banksy might retire with enough money to last 5 generations.

anti bagger software, by Ågentßacardi on Mar 31, 2007 19:59:26 GMT 1, i also ordered a sepia and an unsigned because i got the unsigned first and then the sepia came after. i sent POW an email explaining in detail and asked if i could keep the signed (sepia) and for them to delete my unsigned. i got this response yesturday Hello Sam, We are sorting through today so will refund one order as necessary Many thanks Dora POW looks like ill get my signed hopefully
Which implies that there may be more unsigned ones popping up for sale for those who're still willing to perservere on

Eelus Canvasses!, by Ågentßacardi on Dec 21, 2006 22:21:57 GMT 1, Word on the street is that Eelus wants to kill that guy who sold his on Ebay. Completely classless if you ask me. Post a pic spaceboy1313 for all to see!
Well I don't think his sentiments are completely unjustified. Effectively speaking, the guy who sold his canvas on eBay basically used eelus to make a quick buck (many quick bucks actually)... so I can empathize, since it's never a good feeling if someone is taking advantage of you. Furthermore, the fact that the guy listed it on eBay not even 24 hours after receiving it sends a message that the seller wasn't really into the art, which from the perspective of an artist, is a big huge slap in the face. The guy could have perhaps bugged eelus to finish the canvas, and eelus may have gone to a lot of trouble to get it out ASAP... only to find out that the impatience wasn't geared at the receipt of the canvas, but the profit it bears.
I think eelus has shown himself to be very caring about his fans, posting regularly on here and in the eelus forum. To those people whose Shat-At and Chewbarber orders didn't go through, he offered the WotuLookingAt prints instead... which wasn't an intended print in the first place, but one that he kindly obliged due to fan demand. He makes the effort to make sure that his art goes to those who love them. My point is, given his dedication to his fans, witnessing the eBay listing is quite akin to that guy taking a piss on eelus' head.
On the other hand, if his work wasn't so popular and highly sought-after, this wouldn't have happened. So yeah, it is an indication of his rising star, however offensive it may be. It's a double-edged sword... and I certainly don't blame him for feeling both of those edges. I think the important thing to note is that if he wasn't so dedicated to his fans, he probably won't be feeling this way. At least, that's my interpretation of it

LA Show Prints?, by Ågentßacardi on Feb 15, 2007 19:34:08 GMT 1, Regarding counterfitting - the POW stamp (seal) can also be counterfitted. But its all down to POW keeping records of who owns what. This is the clincher for me anyway...
The seal can be counterfeited, but it's not super-easy to do I think. As for POW keeping records, I think those that were sold via LAZ during the LA show were recorded as well. So as far as 'background checks', buying a POW edition versus an LA edition is just as safe as long as you're buying from a first-hand buyer.

LA Show Prints?, by Ågentßacardi on Feb 15, 2007 0:04:39 GMT 1, i think given the current climate of one or two charlatans trying their luck, anything that can establish clear provenance will hold slightly more value than those that can't. as the rest of the LA show prints become avalible on POW i think the market will become more stable, although original LA versions against POW ones will struggle to hold their value i think. no signed, and only a credit card receipt to go by, as opposed to around 150 signed and the rest blindstamped just re-assures buyers a little. just my opinion though.
There's an official LAZinc. receipt, not just a credit card receipt. It states the buyer's name, phone number, prints purchased as well as the issued edition numbers. If anybody buying an LA edition print encounters a seller who says that there's no such receipt, it's a big fat lie.

LA Show Prints?, by Ågentßacardi on Feb 14, 2007 23:53:48 GMT 1, That is a good question (newbie or not). I've also wondered the same thing. Many say that the LA Applause is much better image quality also. If I had to guess, I would say people are more comfortable with the "officialness" of the POW stamp.
I would guess that as well. Although print counterfeiting is not exactly easy or rampant (at least, as yet), having the stamp basically guarantees that the print is genuine and hence 'safer'. So if you had a choice between an LA edition and a POW edition, we'd expect greater demand for the POW one, which leads to higher price.

DOLK “Che” Print, by Ågentßacardi on Feb 13, 2007 21:34:22 GMT 1, BTW does Dolk sell art elsewhere? Its just I saw the canvas of Che at Santa's Ghetto. I inquired about the price and was told it was sold and the price was the owners business. Which is fair enough.... Actually the answer got me even more curious...
It sold for £750, and it was definitely through POW/Laz.

DOLK “Che” Print, by Ågentßacardi on Feb 13, 2007 19:31:59 GMT 1, It's gonna be one of his classics when he becomes much bigger (which he will), IMO Sorta like Banksy's "Laugh Now". So grab it while you can!

Eelus • Shat-at Print & Canvas, by Ågentßacardi on Dec 5, 2006 18:00:36 GMT 1, Martin, if geoffreyrickly is anything like me or nearly everyone else on this forum, he wouldn't have heard of titifreak before Friday, thanks to POWs ghetto we do now, and thanks to some helpful advice on this forum we now know even more and were introduced to the Graffiti Brasil website. You make it sound so bad like he's only interested because other people are.
Agreed. I know exactly how you feel Martin, as there *are* people who are currently into the artists that we're into, simply because they see our demands as weakness and an opportunity to cash in on our fandom. However, there are also lots of people who have only just gotten exposed to certain artists through POW, and might have fallen in love with their work with no ulterior motive other than art appreciation. I learned about quite a few artists through POW myself... it's exposure, not greed. Nobody's expected to have known about Titifreak before now, it's not like Da Vinci... perhaps you did, but not everybody. There's probably no foolproof way to tell apart the new fans and the opportunistic pseudo-fans, but we've got to acknowledge that each is equally likely and exercise the benefit of doubt.
Just my 2¢, no offense whatsoever intended
