, by senna on Jan 27, 2008 1:56:20 GMT 1, I understand what you're saying regarding desirability of image, but you're missing the point. How can you ever know "they're not fake, as they come from the same run, paper, ink etc"? You can't, and that's the point, they could just have easily been made in Leicester last week or in Norwich next week.
I havn't missed the point dude.
the point I'm trying to make is that they will always be worth something to someone & in some cases, people will pay even more for one of these "anomalies".
I've been lucky enough to seen/own many different Banksy prints
& all the unnumbered/unsigned/un accounted for prints I've seen are indistinguishable from the official editions
I agree that all these should have been destroyed
but in reality they will always exist & we will always talk about them
I don't think my gold liita is worth much (relative to a signed one) financially, but it's definitely special

, by senna on Jan 27, 2008 1:24:28 GMT 1, Thanks it was mine i was gonna sell on the bay but thought better of it. As to the gold lita i bought it with a few other aps i also have a blue and a purple toxic mary and a white flying copper and a long pulp fiction none of these are signed or numbered but pow did show some at the ghetto this year that were signed and yes 4k is a lot but you have to aim high Bollocks. There is no such thing as unmarked, or indeed unsigned 'test prints' (traditionally known as 'trial proofs') and the same goes for 'artist proofs'. They are produced as guides for both printer and artist and are marked with the abbreviated A/P or T/P and numbered in order that no further copies (such as the 'gold' liita being discussed) are printed and circulated. In addition to these, there will be what are referred to these days as 'printers proofs' (P/P's) and used to be called 'workshop impressions', intended to remain the property of the print studio, along with one other print known as a BAT which essentially is the proof that the master printer will use to match quality of the prints produced for the whole edition. In short, an edition of 100 prints should yield no more than the following 'extra's': 1 BAT (property of printer) 1 P/P (property of print studio) 10 A/P's (property of the artist) X T/P's (property of artist, the total is defined when desired impression is reached) I repeat, all of the above are numbered and signed, ideally at the time of production in the presence of both artist and printer. Any print without these markings should never be in circulation and should be considered worse than worthless.
understood but, they will never be
"considered worse than worthless" & they will always be desirable.
they're not fake, as they come from the same run, paper, ink etc.
as the saying goes
"they are worth what ever someone wants to..."
my humble opinion

new stuff up now - GO, by senna on Jun 28, 2007 12:25:17 GMT 1, as paula asked. Y is the [glow=red,2,300] W[/glow]missing on the print? The W is missing because... The Latin Alphabet is the starting point for all graffit "Writers", it's the foundation of all Graffiti and all which that encompasses. The letter W wasn't added to the alphabet until the middle ages, (to represent sounds from the Germanic languages which did not exist as independent phonemes in the Romance languages). All graffiti artists know this By leaving it out, Eine (German word), shows what a clever chap he is ;D
you never cease to amaze me respect ;D
ALL of Ben Eine's work looks great up close IMO

Banksy Morons Print, by senna on Apr 13, 2007 1:09:02 GMT 1, was-sup AB? I'm really sorry to say that there is nothing any of us can do Vis-ร -vis the ripple in a framed paper print. The more colour/paint, the worse it can be. personally, every print i own regardless of size is flat the minute i get it. but this actually has very little if any affect on whether a print will ripple when framed or not. they are printed on paper; paper is organic containing moisture.it loses that mosture over time irregularly. you get the picture. short of getting them re-pressed every now & then...thats the way it is. f**kin gets on my nerves too my 20p's worth Hello there cure for constipation Senna! How the hell have you been man?? Great to hear from ya!!! So your prints are getting ripply too? Man, that really sucks... how do they do it in the museums - do they simply get them repressed routinely? Well at least there's a bit of good news - it's got nothing to do with keeping prints rolled up in a tube for a long time (although you still shouldn't do it, there's plenty other reasons for that!). So annoying and tragic, though
my stretch pulp has been done twice this year & still not perfect.
better explain the shit (or lack of ) thing to the non americans
been pretty busy this year & don't get half the time on-line now
...but i do pop in when i can & see whats occuring in the world of art/gossip/pow/junkies
peace to all

my 20p's worth
Yep. It concerns me, but not too sure what to do. It still looks awesome in its frame to be fair, but my eye keeps getting drawn to the 'curves' that just shouldn't be there. It was at the gallery for 4 weeks being flattened, so in fairness I don't think there was much more that they could have done. I guess the moral is to keep the prints flat - particularly the scalping brigade who are holding onto their prints until they see fit to cash in. It's so painful, isn't it? It happened to my Napalm and Jack & Jill. I'm thinking of bringing it back to my framer to have it remounted... I talked to my framer about it and he keeps saying it's because of poor paper quality. He even suggested that I get glued on to the back mount (dunno the technical term)!! Sacrilege!!! But I don't wanna bring it to another framer and spend more money fixing it, especially if it's gonna keep happening! Ugh. Dilemma.

DFace - Eyecons Show Video, by senna on Apr 3, 2007 16:08:58 GMT 1, Thanks for that geezah
would highly recommend a visit to his show (& Brighton)
IMO his strongest work to date. everything has a feel of top quality.
the skull's in the "make us an offer" piece were all individually cast & finished...hand painted gold leaf & even vegetarian leather (whatever that is).
