SECRET SANTA 2013 CHAT ONLY!!!, by Stoko on Nov 9, 2013 16:26:54 GMT 1, This thread is just for discussion and comments about this year's Secret Santa. To see the rules and add your name 'ave a gander at this thread
urbanartassociation.com/thread/110898/secret-santa-2013-join-list?page=1&scrollTo=1126958
Play nicely people! Remember the idea of the Secret Santa is to give what you would like to receive. If it hasn't made your walls and you won't miss it too much then pass it on. The VAST majority of people who have taken part in this have been hugely generous, inventive and entered into the spirit totally.

What's not on the walls..., by Stoko on Nov 9, 2013 10:47:34 GMT 1, Whilst we all have things stored away, how can you have things that you've never opened?! When art arrives for me, opening it is one of the most enjoyable parts! Exactly!!! I'm like a kid at Xmas when the postman brings me tubes! Why do you buy stuff if you don't even open them? Not having a go in any way but seems curious to me, prints always look so much better in the flesh

How much art do you 'hoard'?, by Stoko on Nov 2, 2013 2:13:55 GMT 1, Some great responses. But I notice not one person has questioned the argument of selling everything to buy lager.

How much art do you 'hoard'?, by Stoko on Nov 2, 2013 1:08:10 GMT 1, Art is a beautiful often thought-provoking thing, to be enjoyed, cherished and shared. The only art I have that isn't on display is waiting for me to accumulate the funds to frame it. I'm into art because I enjoy it's aesthetic and symbolic value, not financial. The thought of flicking through art in a folder that I'd get out only occasionally makes me feel a bit sad. But that's just me. Agree totally mate. But I have several pieces I have picked up where the cost of framing them would be much more than I paid for the actual work, and I find myself struggling to justify the cost of framing them and taking down something off the wall to make room for them. Have never bought anything because of its financial worth. The most I have paid for anything is about ยฃ100! -I never keep anything under my bed under the illusion it is 'worth' anything other than the emotional value I bestow on it. Just enquiring as to people's policies on keeping stuff. I love flicking through my stuff that isnt on the wall, forget what beauties I have, and it puts a spring in my step. Couldn't give a sht what it's worth. i'd just like - as you say - to share it in my wall space but never quite get round to it.

How much art do you 'hoard'?, by Stoko on Nov 2, 2013 0:58:39 GMT 1, Had a trip to the framers today and realised I still have 10-15 pieces under my bed that are waitnig for the wall space they deserve/am allowed to have by my wife * Some of them I doubt will ever make it up. But I still love them and get a thrill scrolling through my folio. There must be a small bloody fortune sat under our collective beds. What's your policy? One in, one out? Considered having a fire sale but realised that all I'd do with the money is buy more stuff to go under my bed. Or more effects pedals. Or more lager. *please select obvious answer.... Don't buy effects pedal... Just play through a Hotcake dude. when you're as bad as me, you need all the audio botox you can get mate

Eelus โข After The Rain Print, by Stoko on Nov 1, 2013 22:57:03 GMT 1, And purely out of curiosity - I'm far too skint to be in the running for this - how much is the pp being touted for? Feel free to pm me. But I'm guessing that if the print was ยฃ250 and the hand finished was ยฃ400 then this would be somewhere in between? Which is still about what you'd be paying for a secondary regular print. ยฃ300 Good price. Snap their hand off if you have the cash and like the print.

What Music are you listening to at the moment ?, by Stoko on Nov 1, 2013 22:23:30 GMT 1, My brother went along to the pop up store, and was amazed to see mick jones appear. Not as an official promo thing, he was passing. And no one recognised him apparently. Our John went over and had a chat with him for a few minutes and then a few people cottoned on to who he was and he got mobbed. Here's a couple of my favourite things in frames
And also this, original watercolour done from the side of the stage as part of the London Calling artwork
Any other Ray Lowry fans on here? I've got a few bits, anyone else?

Are you old enough for this to give you goosebumps..., by Stoko on Nov 1, 2013 21:55:14 GMT 1, Some great memories. Anyone used to go whirl y gig? Mental. Must admit I lost interest in 'dance ' music with drum n bass, couldn't get my head around most of it once the shock of the new wore off. But still had some great nights out.

Eelus โข After The Rain Print, by Stoko on Nov 1, 2013 21:48:26 GMT 1, Go for it. If you love the print, then it doesn't matter if it's an ap, pp or regular. If I had any cash I'd jump at the chance. Ok so pp usually aren't worth as much as APs but they're more limited than regular releases. If you're the sort of person that's more interested in an investment than owning a print they love, that is. Not his strongest work but still streets ahead of most released this year IMO.

The ยฃ50 Art Thread, by Stoko on Oct 27, 2013 8:40:31 GMT 1,
Slight flaw in the plan potentially... I bet less than 50% of forum members have the ability to play cassettes these days...
Exactly! How's about CDs? My band did a run of the new album on hand sprayed covers, went down a treat. Could do the same with blank CD-RS and forumites fill them and pass them on?

"Art Makes Me Happy" ...all on the way!, by Stoko on Oct 26, 2013 20:06:00 GMT 1, Looking good. And full credit for keeping your prices low; you've built yourself up well over the past two years producing consistently developing work, but kept your prices down. I can think of a few who could learn from that... I'd much rather have slightly larger edition sizes and more affordable prices.
A good guy to deal with.
