Building a Storage cabinet, by johnj on Nov 3, 2012 15:02:30 GMT 1, Hi,
I am considering having a carpenter build me a Storage Cabinet in Wood for easier Store my prints, as well as make a nice furniture.
The Plan is simply to build it as follows
specs: -------
length: 100-120 cm depth: 70-80 cm highth: 80-110 cm
drawers: 1 per 2-3 cm for storing one print in each drawer material: wood (mdf/drawers and oack/the cabinet itself) paint: the cabinet itself will be painted/sprayed white glance OR natural Oak. Front doors. 1 plain door each side, with white gasket tape to seal them: Something like this L ______________________________________ l---------------------------'---------------------------------l l---------------------------'---------------------------------l l---------------------------'---------------------------------l l---------------------------'---------------------------------l H l---------------------------'---------------------------------l l---------------------------'---------------------------------l l---------------------------'---------------------------------l l---------------------------'---------------------------------l l_________________'____________________ l N N N
This drawing suck i know, but to give u guys an idea. The plan would then as mentioned be to store one print in each drawer, maybe 2 on top of each other as time flies and collection builds.
The way i will store the prints is simply to flaten them out and put one print straight into a polyester folder (open 1 end only) nothing more nothing less - i.e no backing board, tape corners, paper between the print and the polyester folder.
This is just a plan, but i wanted to check with u guys if u would have any inputs in both storing each print as well as building something in wood - my question is simply, is it good for the prints ? what will be the best for them ? anything else i rather should consider? what kind of wood, paint etc etc:-)
i Know its a lot to ask, but in case u can help it would be appreciated.
ps! for the ones based in Norway, I will pay something like 10 K NOK (abt 1100 GBP) having it built on my mesaurements here in Norway

Building a Storage cabinet, by manty on Nov 3, 2012 16:56:42 GMT 1, I know its not want to want to hear, but i would put the prints in a frame and hang them on my wall.
If my walls were full, i would simply put my over stock in a portfolio case.
still, it may be cool making bit of furniture, so ignore me, i am a miserable soul today
