So difficult to tell at the present time, print prices are all over the place!! Money has been spread further than normal with all the new stuff on the market. Leonard Street sold one about 5 months ago for £6.5k I reckon this is an £8k print. certainly aint £14k, thats radar rat money!!!!

£14k for a monkey?!?!, by ®at on Oct 15, 2007 17:49:09 GMT 1, I would..... add up the ebay fees and the paypal fees and it is a fair chunk... plus the risk of accepting paypal (dodgy chargebacks/ lies ) I would say he is being rather sensible with something of that value....

£14k for a monkey?!?!, by verbalkint on Oct 15, 2007 20:09:54 GMT 1, I agree but he didnt say anything about risk, he said it was cos of the fees. My point is that if you are going to sell something for £14k and you dont have the facility to accept credit card payments then accepting paypal is a good idea as someone can pay through their credit card through paypal. You have a much better chance of selling a high value item if you open it up to people who dont have to have £14k cash sat in the bank.
I am pretty sure my ebay fees are higher than most peoples on this board, £3000 a month. My paypal fees i have no idea about as you dont get them in a bill, but i imagine they are the same, so that is £6000 a month. I do not mind a single penny of those fees. Ebay gives me access to millions of customers who i would have to spend millions in advertising to reach and paypal attracts bidders who would not bid without it, it makes me way more than £3000 in extra bids a month. I admit that if you are selling an item as a one off, a signed banksy and you get £8000 for it and have to pay a couple of hunderd quid in fees you can feel stung, but unless you found someone on these forums or someone you knew to buy it then how would you sell something like that? put simply, you wouldnt. People take ebay for granted now and forget just how amazing it is, but i dont mind their fees one bit. If you sold a print at southerbys they would take 25% off of you, ebay takes about 3% and yet people still moan
I think its cheap and amazing value for money

£14k for a monkey?!?!, by wezzley on Oct 16, 2007 3:03:15 GMT 1, Hi Endtimes,
Don't believe everything you hear
its a flatering thought but I'm in no way esteemed...I'm a nobody dude! and I dont & have never claimed to share Banksy's 'core street values' ....although....I have gone a bit soft in my old age...but either way I keep my values to myself.
as for the 14k thing, - simply put,- I want to assertain its value. I set the price high with a 'make an offer' feature....thats the significant bit....I'm thinking that that from the offers & correspondence from interested people I will know what to sell it for. No different to posting on this forum that its for sale and for people to pm offers - I would have done a classified no price ad on ebay for people to make offers if there was such a thing - but there wasnt so I did it that way. I know I said Im going soft & but I'm not yet at the stage that I would sell something I owned to a stranger for significantly less than it was worth...Would you in the name of street values? - actually dont answer, I dont mind what anyone here does, & its none of my business. nighty night

£14k for a monkey?!?!, by verbalkint on Oct 16, 2007 3:18:02 GMT 1, that makes sense, but if you put a really high buy it now people wont make an offer usually as they think you will reject it or they think you will see there offer as taking the piss. You could get any signed banksy print and say £50,000 or best offer, but you probably wont get too many offers. Of course you want its value, so would anyone. good luck to you

£14k for a monkey?!?!, by Chuck D on Oct 16, 2007 3:30:33 GMT 1, Wezzley, don't be so modest, I bet you're still hard as hell.
This is one of the most classic Banksy images to date, it will be worth a lot more than 14K in the future. I hope you get the price you're looking for. Keep it real man.

£14k for a monkey?!?!, by endtimes on Oct 16, 2007 4:18:53 GMT 1, ;D Here's more of the runaway unchecked enthusiasm. Only one way to go but up! right? Until prices start to go down... ...and they already have.
14k is way overpriced but honestly I don't care what you do Wezzley. Although I will say what I've encountered on this forum in scenarios like you suggest is that there's no transparancy. That people who want blind offers often lie or exagerate about the other offers they've gotten to try and squeeze even higher bids out of people and prey on people emotions. But anyway...
I just think it's funny how some people (not necessarily you) pretend that this scene is about "street art core values" part of which is anti-corporate, anti-elitist and anti-materialist attitude, yet this scene is evidently filled with tons of people who are very money driven and materialistic. But at least you admit it, that's all anyone can ask for.
