I didnt mean for this to happen! It just shows how amazingly kind hearted everyone is. err.... i dont know what to say really, i mean this isnt a registered charity, just something i wanted to do but obviously if there is more money raised then more could be done with it. My idea was to just hand out gifts to the kids, but maybe i could organise a big party for them with clowns, and them people who make balloon animals and stuff. there is a childrens hospice near here too that relys on donations, but rather than hand over cash i would like to organise something i can see. I know they would probably rather spend it on practical things but the idea of this is to give the kids an amazing day, make them happy.
I dont mind running these auctions through my ebay shop and i also dont mind giving 2 other members full access to all of the reults, and so everything can be vetted (receipts etc) I know those that know me know that i would never do anything dodgy with charity money, but its important for everything to be transparrant when it comes to other peoples generosity. Maybe if we raised a load we could do one of those dream come true things where we send a terminally ill child to disneyland. I can think of anything more rewarding than that, although the problem with that is you cannot send them all. Any thoughts people? Obviously not every sick child can leave the wards, most cannot leave the beds, but there are hundreds of cases where parents are trying to raise money to take their kid to america for treatment, maybe we could help that way with someone.
Perhaps this could be a regular thing, we could get artists to contribute, the ones here on the forum already have, im sure beejoir would send something, and adam neate might if i email him, as long as its legit i could see some really big names contributing. Also, those on the boards who are self employed can adjust their tax to give some to charity. It just has to be a registered charity. If its going to be a one off then there is no point, but if it could be a regular thing then it would be worth doing, anyone know how to set that up?
If anyone here is friendly with any artists that do not come here, have a word and see what they say. this could be the start of something really great, but at the very least it will make some sick kids happy

i need to get my head round everything, i dont want to say one thing and then change it. I need to call the hospital and check at a senior level if this is OK. they might have health and safety rules, or general child protection rules againsed adults just coming onto the ward. It would be terrible for everyone to give only for my idea to be shot down in flames.
The generosity on this board never ceases to amaze me, i feel there is a great chance of making a really good amount of money. What i have always wanted to do is sponser a termenally ill child who is still well enough to travel, but comes from a disadvantaged background to have their wish granted, like a trip to disneyland or something. If this raises enough then we could do that, and still do the santa thing which i would be happy to pay for myself. To give a family one last amazing holiday and memory together would be priceless. Obviously its hard to pick a family, but i will give that some thought.
I will call around tomorrow and get some answers then decide where to go from there. If anyone has any other suggestions feel free to put them on this thread. All pieces of art that are being donated by forum Artists or pieces of art simply being donated by members to be pm to me (Artist, Piece Title, Edition Number etc). No art to be actually passed or posted to anybody at this stage. Closing date for this part will be 31.10.2007. I will then list all prints that have been donated along with all relevant details and photos if available. This will be the review period and will last just over one week. Starting the 12.11.2007 one print will be posted for auction each day. Posted at 8:00am with blind bids accepted by way of pm up until 6:00pm. The winning bidder and price will be revealed at 6:30pm each evening. The process will begin again the following day until all prints have been auctioned. At the end of the process all winners details will be posted and the prints can then be sent by the person donating the print to the winning bidder. The winner bidder can then send the appropriate funds to a nominated paypal account (Verbal?) for submission to the charity. This probably needs polished but its a 1st draft.

Sorry I cant get involved with helping organizationally  it just I have so much on ma plate at the minute  I'm actually doing something very similar ;D I raise money to pay for and help organize a Christmas party for children locally ;D have done for the last 4 or 5 years.

once all the presents are bought and if any is money is left over we could run a poll on what to do with the rest of the money?
major respect verbalkint... you will make a lot of people very happy. And I nominate you to dress up as father christmas.

it just I have so much on ma plate at the minute 
I'm actually doing something very similar ;D I raise money to pay for and help organize a Christmas party for children locally ;D have done for the last 4 or 5 years.
