charidee, by CR on Oct 17, 2007 17:48:26 GMT 1, Notitle and myself would like to donate a set of 11 of our own screen prints. They may not be to everyone's tastes but they are nice and simple and have been quite popular so far! let us know what to do. Great idea!
Well done Thwaites!
I would also like to donate the last remaining print from my original 'che with words' run.
It is numbered 1/3 AP and was my only one for my personal collection - not much but its for a good cause, and every little helps, right.
Thanks CR

charidee, by finsburyparkranger on Oct 17, 2007 18:23:35 GMT 1, Hey verbals great idea if you can pull it off. I love the idea of directly giving. Its like really fluffy direct action. I'm not sure what I'll give at the mo, really knackered but just put 'something from FPR'. Also the POTY awards was going to have a little charity auction for fun with a couple of small bits and pieces and I'm sure eveyone will agree money raised in that can happily go towards this cause also. If there's too much money we can bomb two wards with toys (or maybe get in a magician as well ).
Best of luck Verbals.

Have you tried C6's Toogle ?.. in fact everyone should :-) this is from typing in rude copper, we had this at nuart in 06 on a big screen, you could sms words to it during gigs and it would find an image...no surprise our visuals were 90% porn that year. ;D

charidee, by verbalkint on Oct 17, 2007 21:37:36 GMT 1, hi everyone, i dont have much time right now, and will answer all PM,s later. Someone wrote and said that there are issues with giving kids presents (vetting the toys, health and safety etc) plus issues with vetting the people who go on the ward. Its miles of red tape and also the hospitals all have NHS funding. A man contacted my from great ormand street and told me that they get thousands of toys donated every year and most chilrens units would be similar. Also when i called them the boss of the ward sighed and made me feel as if i was creating problems for them, she wasnt very appreciative at all and if i am honest, a bit nasty really
So what i have decided, if its OK with everyone is to donate the money we raise to a childrens hospice. They rely entirely on outside donations. I called one called bluebell wood (www.bluebellwood.org) after the hospital and the lady in charge of fund raising was absolutely over the moon. She really was. They have a couple of shops where they sell things people bring in and also have links from their website to various online shops (like amazon) so if you go to amazon from their link and buy something they give them a fee. Bluebell wood is a purpouse built facility that can only survive with donations. They aim to make every day the kids are there sepecial. I said that i didnt mind just nading the cash over to let them spend it on what they needed to do, but i would like an event paid for, a huge party at christmas or something or an outing, and i said i would also like something else big to aim for like (and this is off the top of my head) A massive landscape garden where the families can spend quality time with their kids, with purpose built dens and hidehouts for the kids. Something really magical so its like walking into a fairytale, with a section with an adventure play area. But obviously they know what space they have to work with etc, the lady there said she would help us in absolutely any way she could. She suggested that i provide the address of every winner so she can send a letter from them thanking them for bidding. I could also take a load of the items down when they arrive and have the staff take pictures of the staff looking at them so they can post our auction on their website so people can log on to see that it is legit.
Also i think they are pretty good with local publicity, and with all the generous people and artist contributions on this wonderful board i can see local, and maybe national press getting hold of it. its a good story. With this in mind i think its better if i set up a seperate ebay account to sell the items. First of all it is not fair for me to have my items that are not charity items getting free publicity from a charity, or that someone might think they are all charity too. I would not feel comportable profiting from this in any way, shape of form. If someone is good at writing HTML coding for snazzy looking ebay auctions that would be great, i cannot see the 0 feedback being an issue with all the links that will be on the auctions for people to check out, plus i know that you guys will be bidding for some of the stuff donated.
Hope this sounds good so far, the hospice is new and has had funding issues right from the word go, they are taking in patients at the start of next month and will need our help making everything amazing. I really believe in this and this belongs to everyone who contributes to it. Everyone on this board is amazing. If you know people, friends of friends who is an art student working for damian hirst, get them to get him to send a spot painting! seriously though, if he knew about it he probably would donate, i think most people would, knowing that a 5 minute drawing could really help a dying child and that a 5 hour painting from some of them could buy a whole new ward!! Is anyone friendly with LAZ? would he ask his artists if they would donate some work? Anything at all, any help is so welcome and appreciated.
Please bare with the PM's. I will answer all of them, but for now i canno even look at them im afraid as i will be rushed to death until midnight. i hope you will check their web site and agree its a worthy cause to raise money for.

charidee, by verbalkint on Oct 18, 2007 2:49:11 GMT 1, my vase went for £511 so thats the start, not bad i suppose especially when you add organics £300 too, nearly at a grand already. Im going to throw a couple of nice diamonds on the pile when the listings start proper. I really would appreciate any ideas on what specificly we could do for the hospice. I know that they would probably prefer to spend it how they see fit, but i want to see something that we did it for. Either way we can throw a big christmas show and party for the kids and their families. Post ideas on the thread or PM me

As an idea of what could be provided for the children and hospice, maybe some art materials might be alright?

wouldn't it be easier for us to send them straight to the winner, perhaps special delivery and then send you the tracking number, thus saving alot on postage!

charidee, by Harveyn on Oct 18, 2007 13:02:28 GMT 1, Hi - Yes sorry about the date confusion the closing date for submissions is the 14.11.2007.
Hi CR - The plan is that the pieces will be submitted to Verbal for him to take over and perform the auction part of the process on Ebay. I here what you are saying about postage but to make sure everything is available for auction (as this will be open to the general public on ebay) its probably safer this way.
Verbal will update everyone soon as to the delivery address. The plan is then to send an alert to all forum members as to when each auction commences.
I need images to allow me to post pictures of all donations for the review week (14.11.2007 to the 21.11.2007).
This is more fun and worthwhile than sitting hitting F5 all day...... ;D ;D ;D

Also when i called them the boss of the ward sighed and made me feel as if i was creating problems for them, she wasnt very appreciative at all and if i am honest, a bit nasty really So what i have decided, if its OK with everyone is to donate the money we raise to a childrens hospice. I will answer all of them, but for now i canno even look at them im afraid as i will be rushed to death until midnight. i hope you will check their web site and agree its a worthy cause to raise money for. totally fine by us verbal, its your idea so totally up to you mate

charidee, by CR on Oct 18, 2007 21:10:56 GMT 1, Hi - Yes sorry about the date confusion the closing date for submissions is the 14.11.2007. This is more fun and worthwhile than sitting hitting F5 all day...... ;D ;D ;D
fine by me, just thought I would throw that one in their, try to save some money!
I already posted a pic, but let me know if you want another one.
