Solid fair, and I'm pretty miffed about fairs in general at the moment.

I specifically was excited by the new How & Nosm work, particularly the works on paper that were in the back room.

If I wasnt an hour away I would have gone back today.

Hello all,

Long story short there is a piece of art in Miami that I need picking up, packaged and shipped to the UK (not asking for much am I!)
Said piece is in the artist's studio at the moment.
I have all the details etc.. Although he is a little tricky to pin down

I'd be paying for shipping and obviously packaging costs and thank you costs.

Ideally would like a member who is au fait with good packing practices and has shipped to the UK before.

I've spoken to Steve at Flight Logistics and while they're happy to do everything for me, Steve suggested going local as it would actually save me on costs.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Hi All.

I am putting a project together in Miami for 2020 and i am looking for a shortlist of Artists who are either Born in Miami or Florida and could be working somewhere else or are actually living and working within the Miami Area.

I am leaning more towards the contemporary + pop art side of things but also exploring low brow stuff too. 

So far some of the names i have thought of are...

Jen Stark (Born in Miami and has done numerous public installations)
Friends with you (Founded in Miami)

Can anyone help with some more artists names? I checked out Wynwood when i was at Basel this year but a lot of the artists fly in to do the murals 

Any insight appreciated.

Made my pilgrimage to Wynwood last year. We stayed on the beach, but the buses are fairly straightforward to navigate to the motherboard. Saw some massive and fantastic Logan Hicks. I asked the guy on the till a few questions and he ended up giving me a guided tour! I learnt so much :-) My top tip is to simply walk and explore 3 or 4 blocks in the Wynwood area. If you happen to have a backpack full of bottled cocktails; all the better :-)

Here’s a few recommendations based on my trips to Miami for Basel for the past 7 years or so:

I always stay in South Beach as I like walking to the beachside shows. Somewhere near Ocean drive (Thompson hotel, ritz Carlton, SLS, etc are good choices). While father north the Fountainbleau has a great spa and pool and the Eden Roc is nice too. I’d say skip a rental car and just walk and Uber (parking is expensive and hard to find in Miami, plus I’m usually drinking in the evenings anyway).

I recommend going to Scope and Untitled during the early in the day (the shows have patios that overlook the ocean, so it’s cool to browse art and then grab a drink and enjoy the fresh air.) Defintely go to the actual Basel show at the convention center as well.

On the city side, Context and Art Miami are usually really good too.

Wynwood is always awesome, just be prepared for crazy traffic (especially later in the evening). The Juxtzapose Club House is cool to stop by there too. There usually some good concerts too, though they get going late in the night. Spectrum and Red Dot shows are usually worth a visit, though I’d do those after the other bigger shows.

Food and Drink Suggestions:
South Beach: 27 at the Freehand Hotel,Broken Shaker (great cocktail bar) Byblos (Mediterranean), Palacios de los jugos (great casual Cuban spot for lunch); Quality Meats (steakhouse)

Wynwood: Kyu (Asian fusion) 1800 Lucky (Asian food court), Alter

Miami: Ember, Los Altos (awesome hidden tequila bar),

Happy to answer any question if I can. I don’t live in Miami but usually make 3 or 4 trips there each year and have been to Basel about 8 times so know it fairly well.
