I'm afraid you'd have to give me your peace keeper and cash to part me with my GIWTBB!!
Good luck, although I imagine you'll have more luck selling it on ebay and buying a GIWTBB

+1 I hate to say it but I have to agree! They aren't in the same league as GIWTBB. The price fall in the Laz 4 reflects this....I would put money on the fact you will never get GIWTBB for less than cost. A part of me is glad I didn't get them (after queuing for 10 hours!) as after giving it more thought they were overpriced. I guess that's what hype can do...make you feel like if you don't get something that you have missed out.

Yeah, totally agree. The recent 4 Laz micallef prints were awful. Over rated at the time and over priced. Micallef's GIWTBB, Judgement Day, We Come in Peace, and the 2 other Laz lithos from this year are amazing though. Although I'm a big fan of the charcoal, the 3 colour lithos from the summer are beautiful. I saw them in the flesh at Laz and they were amazing.

Agreed. The jpeg images don't do them any justice. Not his best works I'll agree, but they do look much better in the flesh.

All interesting comments.
I think that the reason GIWTBB will never go below cost, is because it only cost £300. If the laz 4 cost £300, they would never go below cost!
I think you are right that they were already over priced, or perhaps just priced right, and that is why they are now selling at around cost price on the secondary market!
I would also like to predict, that GIWTBB will eventually cost the same as one of the 4 laz prints to buy!! I'll look back at this in a year and see if I was right.

Micallef Swap, by badboi on Oct 17, 2007 13:32:01 GMT 1, Yeah they really should get better pictures on the Laz website and POW for that matter. It was only on the off chance that I was walking past Lazarides Gallery in the summer and so popped in there to view the 3 lithos. Beautiful in the flesh, and framed, well just simply stunning. Definatly up there with 21CL in my opinion. Plus only 50 of them in existence, so if you are lucky enough to own one as well as being able to admire it everyday you also know that only 49 other people have one in the whole world. Beauty and rarity all rolled into one.

Improvised Minotaur or Minotaur Weapon? Minotaur Weapon is far better in my opinion. The Improvised Minotaur is a bit too much and in ya face. Not as nice to look at.

Now thats more like it Mike. I thought you were going mad for a minute. The Improvised Minotaur just looks like some junked up 21CL on steroids. It ain't pretty! Where on earth would you hang that in your house other than the back door to deter burglers with a sign above it saying "Beware of the Improvised Minoataur" :-)

Micallef Swap, by keepingitreal on Oct 17, 2007 15:23:06 GMT 1, IMO the new Micallef prints are Awsome, just like all his work it's absolutely ground breaking!!!
Just because his latest prints have not turned around huge profits in a few weeks the same people who stood in line and didn't get a set set slate the work, That doesn't make any sense to me at all, if you don't like the work don't buy it!
I think it's f***king great that the flippers and baggers have been caught out at last, "Good work Micallef!!!"
Anyway make the most of the lul and snap them up while they are still almost at cost. Play the baggers at there own game because they are not interested in putting them on their walls & you are!!!!!

Micallef Swap, by phat on Oct 17, 2007 15:37:24 GMT 1, I think everyone should be entitled to their opinion on the latest prints, in fact on any of his prints; appreciating and buying art is a personal thing as well as a shared thing hence why this and other forums started.
I currently own 5 Micallef's all past eyestorm and POW release's inc. GIWTBB & JD. I have to say I have not been attracted at all to any of the prints release's of summer or recent. I much prefer the subtlety and (without sounding "stupid") certain story that comes from the b&w pieces (SMS inc).
I have to agree though that the attention to detail on the edition of 50 Laz prints is second to none but yet I am still not attracted to it or by it. My only exception to colour prints has to be 21C which most people on here seem to agree is truly stunning (unfortunately this is not part of my collection)
p.s to get back to the original post....good luck with the swap

Micallef Swap, by Philippe on Oct 17, 2007 16:12:32 GMT 1, Lets not forget here that GIWTBB is a run of a 1000. It will increase steadily over time but only because it was released at a reasonable price. The 4 recent prints are stunning in their detail when seen in person, I believe. The special weapon series is also meant to be together, the 3 prints framed next to each other speaks much more to me than just 1 or 2 of them up. My top 5 Micallef's:
MW
21st CL
WCIP
FF
JD
There is a GIWTBB on ebay US for 510 pounds buy it now if you havent seen it.

No not in the flesh but from the jpeg images I have seen of it (which do nothing for the pic's I know) I will agree with you on this piece as well
In fact I think his "Japanese" inspired pieces all have great attention to detail and have that little more something about them, rather than being IMO "flat" pieces. I have 2 of these pieces but again preferred the b&w to the colour MYIH.

Micallef Swap, by stuey09 on Oct 17, 2007 16:15:32 GMT 1, Your right Havana. The 4 Laz colour prints have divided a lot of opinion, but GIWTBB seems to have got the nod. It'll be interesting to see if there are any more Black and Whites to come from Laz or PoW. I dare say they won't hang around if so.
