Banksy Gorilla Print Release - POW, by Deleted on Mar 4, 2015 23:47:22 GMT 1, I'm not sure US/UK Humane Societies or Red Cross would be appropriate charities given the recent Gaza video and Banksy's piece a few years back about the Red Cross.
Maybe find an organization specifically focused on sending aid workers to the destroyed areas of the Middle East; this will likely not be a big name charity.
That said, great effort! Everyone loves some charity fundraising

Banksy Gorilla Print Release - POW, by Deleted on Mar 5, 2015 0:13:11 GMT 1, The plan is that there will be 15 prints available. They will be sold, auction style, via BiddingOwl.com (or possibly eBay charity site. still deciding on which one to use. Any one have any experience with either?). Each of the prints will sponsor one charity (except for one that will go towards my costs. If that one sells for more than my costs, I will donate the overage to the charity that raises the least amount). I want there to be full transparency, especially after the BNE scam. Thoughts? Suggestions? Am I crazy? So there will be 14 charities sponsored in all. I'm also hoping to release a print by a well-known artist at the same time, but that might not be ready in time for the Gorilla sale (hoping for them to be available by the end of this month) TRUE STORY - I reached out to "Team Banksy", told them my plan, and asked if they wanted to pick a charity to sponsor. They said no Team Banksy part is classic.
IMO you should create/sell as many as possible, rather than just having 15 on auction. With no artist attached to the print, I can't see the auctions ending at very high prices. You'd raise more money for charity by doing an open edition, or edition of 300 or something at $30-40 each (or whatever offsets your costs best).

You'd raise more money for charity by doing an open edition, or edition of 300 or something at $30-40 each (or whatever offsets your costs best). I have no idea how much these will sell for, but think they'll raise a descent amount. I know it's an anomaly, but someone emailed me and asked if they could purchase one for $500 (seriously) The problem with making 300 is, simply, that's a lot of prints, and would take TONS of time (each one of these is hand printed and hand glittered). And since I'm not making a penny on these, I can't dedicate that much time to these. I've got other things going on as well, and I need to pay the bills That's fair. At the same time, I doubt anyone would give you trouble if you take some hourly pay for your work to crank the 300 out; not really 'profit' in the common sense of the word and you could do more good.
Your call, your rodeo. It'll end very well any which way you choose.

Banksy Gorilla Print Release - POW, by anodyne13 on Mar 5, 2015 2:18:19 GMT 1, All good on charity, but whether you like it or not the print does have to do with Banksy even though you have properly made clear it is not ENDORSED by Banksy. Personally this still feels a little off to me, like someone making fake Grucci Bags for charity. It feels like a promotional stunt to some degree and seems an odd way to start an art print house by making a knock off art print.

Say I did make 300, I'd be looking at $1K+ up front just for the paper alone. Then there's ink, tubes etc... all money needed up front that I simply don't have

Bitching aside though, a nice idea for charity. I think an open release would warm the cold hearts of some of the collectors here (and open their wallets) and probably raise more, but OPs call in the end
