Banksy Gorilla Print Release - POW, by Stoko on Mar 7, 2015 22:44:34 GMT 1, I read some of this thread and my conclusion is some of you need to take a long hard look at yourselves. The project seems to just be a bit of fun and it will no doubt be for a good cause, so go ahead and make it. Just stick a stamp on it somewhere with your name on it or something like 'a tribute to Banksy'. It seems that money is sucking the life out of this forum. Edit, should've added, you don't need to be validated eby this forum. I'd hazard a guess that there are way more banksy fans in the world that have not been on here than have and might want to buy your charity print. Bob on in every aspect. For those that missed the previous pages; someone wanted to do a charity print and some people, realising that this release wouldn't make them any money, had a right good moan about it. Luckily Coach came along and his birthday averted world war 3. The UAA; removing the 'street' from Street Art since 2012...

Luckily Coach came along and his birthday averted world war 3. The UAA; removing the 'street' from Street Art since 2012... Shame on you, Stoko. Shame on you and your deliberate attempt to mislead.
I've never had a problem with your previous posts, but the one above is a total misrepresentation.
Anyone who's read the comments made by anodyne13 (here), mojo (here & here), myself (here), @nordicstar (here), anorak (here & here), Sturban Has Saggy Tits (here) and @headfall (here) can see the concerns raised have nothing to do with our self-interest. This isn't a money issue for any of us, so I won't be alone in taking exception with you dishonestly trying to paint it as such.
---------------
@federationofideas: I had no idea @pepperspray was your (third?) account. However, my comments would have been the same even if I had been aware.
Don't know what your current intentions are, but it would be unfortunate if you opted to ride roughshod over someone's work without securing their express approval beforehand. That kind of disrespect to an artist and disregard for their intellectual property (charity or no charity) wouldn't send out a great message โ even if I fully understand why you'd like to associate yourself and your business with Banksy's name.
It's also worth discussing an earlier statement by you which has since been deleted: "Pest Control โ Banksy"
That statement is incorrect. Although perhaps inconvenient for you, Pest Control is Banksy's company, it's one of Banksy's mouthpieces, and it acts on behalf of Banksy. You can safely assume anything Pest Control says or does is with the express or implied consent of the artist. This includes playing the bad cop, like saying no to people's endless requests โ an unpleasant but necessary role which is hardly in the interest of the artist to take on himself.

Banksy Gorilla Print Release - POW, by Deleted on Mar 8, 2015 5:39:50 GMT 1, Seems like this is getting out of hand, and a lot of assumptions are being made; people are acting like they know what Banksy would want haha.
Of all the things to get upset about, a person misappropriating an image for the sake of charity/publicity should be really really far down on everyone's list.

Oops, sorry dear. didn't mean to have a pop at anyone, was an attempt at a light hearted jape. I'm not dishonestly (a tad harsh?!?) trying to paint anything. I was having some craic in reference to coach's birthday. Take exception in that.

Banksy Gorilla Print Release - POW, by mojo on Mar 8, 2015 12:30:37 GMT 1, I read some of this thread and my conclusion is some of you need to take a long hard look at yourselves. I'd hazard a guess that there are way more banksy fans in the world that have not been on here than have and might want to buy your charity print. I just took a long hard look at myself and this idea is still ripping off a Banksy print. I'm sure the artist as well as the staff at Pest Control are sick and tired of 'fans' that take it upon themselves to second guess what Banksy would think of their misguided attempts at representing the artists ideas, and using charity to attach your name to the artist definitely doesn't validate it or make it OK, in fact using charity in this way would potentially wind them up more than anything. I wouldn't be surprised if the legal team connected with PC get involved, not by sending a friendly warning either! Fed/Pepper Spray - unless the artist invites you to print and sell this image on their behalf you are walking on very thin ice. Careful now!

he is not advertising it as a banksy or marketing it as a banksy. it is no different from someone taking a street piece and putting it on a mug or canvas.
as long as it does not pretend to be a real banksy then there is no harm. its nowhere near someone like screen prince for example and he does it all the time.
banksy steals stuff all the time.
this forum is so street.
carry on fed.

Yes however we are talking about a print here that the artist hasn't even publicly released yet. Honestly I'm shocked at some of the attitudes on this forum. Why do you think its called PEST control? And your comment about this forum being so street ....... ha ha! When I see a credible representation of this gorilla image up on an illegal wall put up by fed/pepper spray we'll talk about being street ........ yeah!

Banksy Gorilla Print Release - POW, by mojo on Mar 8, 2015 13:38:23 GMT 1, Outis was marketed as banksy. And. And ...... look how that went down! Tricking people into buying artwork that could be 1% Banksy ..... awful idea and still a terrible image.
Sorry but there are plenty of genuinely talented proper street artists out there that wouldn't dream of pretending to be Banksy to get their work recognized or steal Banksy images to attach themselves to the name.
Its a pity more attention isn't focused on discovering genuine talent and not on the wannabe's.
Anyway I'm off out now its a beautiful day in London town and a party awaits ........ laterz!

Banksy Gorilla Print Release - POW, by Deleted on Mar 8, 2015 13:51:15 GMT 1, -Graffiti on other people's walls is vandalism. -Sticking paintings in public buildings/musea is not approved. -Photo coping (and editing) money is illegal. -Jumping fences in themeparks is forbidden. -But using an image to raise awareness on a subject is harmless... I say : Let Fed do his thing and raise some cash on a great cause doing it.... Yes, therefore it would be better for Fed in this situation to steal the idea and make his own gorilla, and not imitate Banksys. I think he made his own Gorilla, there is not a 'make-your-own-gorilla-print-kit' is there? Printing, cutting, make some bridges, get the paper you want, spray paint etc etc. I never seen a print Banksy did with the Glitter Gorilla. But what is your respons on my message? I mean, do you really think Banksy cares? Perhaps his business people care (if he even has those?)... PEST?
I thought street art was street and is against the establishment and the law. I didn't realise there were rules using images to create awareness on a cause. I did know there are laws on using images on personal gain though...
But this is my opinion. Not really here to be in an argument. It is great weather outside! Cheers!
