Adam Neate - 'Dimensional Editions & Paintings' , by Deleted on Sept 23, 2012 0:39:53 GMT 1, What an incredibly ignorant comment. elms is no gallery. They are an entertainment space and art brokers. A gallery contributes to the art community. Shame Adam doesnt have the ambition (or perhaps contract) to show with anyone else.
An ignorant comment? Really?
From my view, I saw them jump in and really, really screw up a bunch of their former artists' markets by pricing amazingly aggressively, creating a hollow. I then saw them state, outright and explicitly, that they did not take part in the secondary market for their artists - at all. No placement, no assisting clients in moving on works, no 'protecting' their artists' young careers at auction. Nothing proper gallerists do all of the time. Finally, I saw all their artists leave to proper galleries and be forced to spend several years attempting to rebuild their markets. Not all have been successful.
Like a slumlord, they collected checks but did little in return for either their patrons or their artists.
Fortunately, they are largely a fading memory of urban/street art's silly season of 2005-2008 or so.

Adam Neate - 'Dimensional Editions & Paintings' , by nex on Sept 23, 2012 2:16:12 GMT 1, This show in parts looks utterly beguiling and beautiful, Neate has long since packed his bag and well truly left the urban art scene without leaving a forwarding address. Good luck to him, his talent can't be disputed and his central themes of relationships, despair, angst will fertilise his continued growth throughout the rest of his career. The move into 3d has seen him create movement flowing through his pieces in ways I never considered and I for one love it. Head and shoulders above everything else here by an absolute country mile. No you can't make a profit, but sometimes art should be just about appreciating creation and the feeling it gives you when you take it in. Warming for the soul - great great work Adam.

Agreed and well said. I enjoy seeing the progression of Adams work. I own a small canvas piece from 04 that is a worlds different from what he's doing today. From the early canvas/cardboard pieces, to his edition prints(Deepend, portraits, etc), to now...you can really see how he doesnt shy away from giving something different a go.
If any of you are stopping by the exhibit, please tell them that shoeless would like to purchase The Hug. Apparently, they dont know how to respond to email.....

Adam Neate - 'Dimensional Editions & Paintings' , by craigf on Sept 23, 2012 9:07:00 GMT 1, Anyone know the dimensions on this one and what it's printed on? Also any comments on the lenticular effect in person? PS-Thanks again for all the great photos!
I would guess its around 50 x 70 ish
When I spoke to Adam he said it was a new technology that had been used to produce the lenticular. It is very much about being 3D rather than the image changing and it's designed that you stop still to look at it and let the effect pop out. I am not sure what it is printed on, it looks very much like othe lenticulars I've seen when up close.
I thought it was very good, one of my favourite pieces from the show. One of the five sold when i was there so I was not alone thinking this. I don't think one will be coming my way though as I bought a couple of James Mylne originals yesterday and really need to sell on a couple of pieces before buying any more.

Brilliant photos! Thanks for sharing them. I was also there yesterday morning, I brought my set of books and Adam was kind enough to doodle and sign in all of them. Stunning originals, and a great variety of work. The new book is definitely worth the cash, nice DVD of Adam talking through his work. Some more pics for your viewing pleasure.. I've added a huge set of pics to view here: www.flickr.com/photos/smart_hype_/sets/72157631597638011/with/8012845414/Adam Neate, 'Dimensional Editions & Paintings' by smarthype, on Flickr Adam Neate, 'Dimensional Editions & Paintings' by smarthype, on Flickr Adam Neate, 'Dimensional Editions & Paintings' by smarthype, on Flickr Adam Neate, 'Dimensional Editions & Paintings' by smarthype, on Flickr Adam Neate, 'Dimensional Editions & Paintings' by smarthype, on Flickr Adam Neate, 'Dimensional Editions & Paintings' by smarthype, on Flickr Adam Neate, 'Dimensional Editions & Paintings' by smarthype, on Flickr

Adam Neate - 'Dimensional Editions & Paintings' , by Rude Copper on Sept 23, 2012 20:15:50 GMT 1, ill-informed horse shit like this is one of the reasons i dont post anymore, elms were around in the graffiti & counter culture scene, long before banksy & lazarides led the charge, & when the chaos began, they had a duty to their artists to sell at the correct market rate, which was determined by the amount of demand, & demand was very heavy. I can assure you that adam, jose parla, ron english et al, were not bothered by the prices their work was being sold for, they had all lived through lean times, & were enjoying their moment in the sun. Sure they made mistakes along the way, but paul & fiona are people who were always driven by the the product rather than the profit, & do not in anyway deserve the sort of mindless babble you have written here.
What an incredibly ignorant comment.
