Adam Neate - 'Dimensional Editions & Paintings' , by Tompkins on Sept 23, 2012 20:21:33 GMT 1, ill-informed horse s**t like this is one of the reasons i dont post anymore, elms were around in the graffiti & counter culture scene, long before banksy & lazarides led the charge, & when the chaos began, they had a duty to their artists to sell at the correct market rate, which was determined by the amount of demand, & demand was very heavy. I can assure you that adam, jose parla, ron english et al, were not bothered by the prices their work was being sold for, they had all lived through lean times, & were enjoying their moment in the sun. Sure they made mistakes along the way, but paul & fiona are people who were always driven by the the product rather than the profit, & do not in anyway deserve the sort of mindless babble you have written here. An ignorant comment? Really? From my view, I saw them jump in and really, really screw up a bunch of their former artists' markets by pricing amazingly aggressively, creating a hollow. I then saw them state, outright and explicitly, that they did not take part in the secondary market for their artists - at all. No placement, no assisting clients in moving on works, no 'protecting' their artists' young careers at auction. Nothing proper gallerists do all of the time. Finally, I saw all their artists leave to proper galleries and be forced to spend several years attempting to rebuild their markets. Not all have been successful. Like a slumlord, they collected checks but did little in return for either their patrons or their artists. Fortunately, they are largely a fading memory of urban/street art's silly season of 2005-2008 or so. I have emailed them around 4 times over the last year and everytime Fiona has emailed me back within the hour, Everything I've asked of them they have provided without fuss,
its only 4 times but 100% customer service everytime.

Adam Neate - 'Dimensional Editions & Paintings' , by garamond on Sept 23, 2012 20:55:51 GMT 1, The show is great and as many have mentioned in the thread, you need to see it all in person.
I picked up a Hug, and personally cannot wait to get it home. Stunning.

Adam Neate - 'Dimensional Editions & Paintings' , by Deleted on Sept 23, 2012 21:19:25 GMT 1, The inability to express an opinion without substantial rudeness is one of the reasons I don't post anymore. I disagree with you, wholeheartedly, but wouldn't dare to demean you by calling what you say, "ill-informed horseshit" or "mindless babble." Really?
You have your view and that's fine. I have the view that failing artists, ripping off patrons, and being downright negligent when it comes to the secondary market does not make you a gallery worthy of respect. The long-run is more than 3 years.
And when you worked the market how they worked it, priced how they priced, and ran with the hype as they did, you most definitely were not, "driven by the the product rather than the profit," regardless of how nice a person you may have seemed.

Adam Neate - 'Dimensional Editions & Paintings' , by Cocteau 101 on Sept 23, 2012 21:24:38 GMT 1, I still rate Neate, he's pretty special when he gets it right and with most of these pieces he has got it right. I'd forget the editions per se, even though most look very good especially the lenticular which is a clever way of capturing the dimensional aspect of these pieces; they are surely produced to both generate income for the artist (and supporting gallery) to continue his very individual path and to give collectors who can't afford his original work a chance to own a piece of a young and still emerging artists work. Nice to see him back and getting the attention he deserves, I'd just like to see some wider recognition of his talent than our rather insular bubble.

Adam Neate - 'Dimensional Editions & Paintings' , by Cocteau 101 on Sept 23, 2012 21:30:16 GMT 1, m909 and rudecopper - I can see both sides of the argument and in that lies the quandry. I think each needs to make up their own mind. I can speak from experience I have both Neate and Parla originals both bought at somewhere near peak prices but having said that would part with neither. The Adam and Ron show and more so for me Adaptation / Translation were shows of incredible work. At the latter I considered Parla to be a totally new abstract expressionist and considered his work to stand aside the 1950's masters from that period. I may be derided for that view but that was my gut feel at the time. I truly do hope both artists go on to have amazingly successful careers.

Adam Neate - 'Dimensional Editions & Paintings' , by Rude Copper on Sept 23, 2012 22:25:09 GMT 1, failing artists? can you expand on this?, ripping off patrons?, again, can you offer some examples of this?, however they must be outside of the sob story, 'my investment is only worth half now', file under caveat emptor. as for the secondary market, paul always made it perfectly clear he would not buy a piece back prior to selling, & to my mind, he wanted to see a natural, organic growth to his artist's development, i for one think that his refusal to manipulate the price of his artists work by buying back at auction, like other galleries within the genre, was wholly commendable.

Well....if I must beg.....could one of you awesome forumites sort me out with one of these simple sketches?!!! I have an old original on canvas and have been a longtime fan of Mr. Neate. Unfortunately, Im in the states and the lady has vetoed The Hug. Please help guy out! I would gladly compensate you a bit for your troubles. You could even have him write my forum name on it so as to guarantee no flipping here! Id really love a sketch framed next to my canvas.
PLEASE!?

With a bit of artistic skill you could easily change that ' to Sand ' into 'to Shoes'

Editions like "hug" are Aluminium so from what I understand would need to be "framed" in some sort of way in order to hang
