POW Pictures on Walls, by ®at on Feb 5, 2007 16:27:53 GMT 1, God help us when the LA prints finally do get released.... site is working fine and coping with traffic it would seem, so it is literally first come first served. Whoever is lucky enough to add those to their basket first should get one. Will show us sold out in about 30 seconds if it can cope with all the hits! Thumbs up to POW for sorting (what apears to be at the moment) a stable ordering system

POW Pictures on Walls, by shine166 on Feb 5, 2007 16:29:13 GMT 1, Dont take this personally m8, but theres a lot of genuine art buyers who appreciate the work and then you get the money grabbers, who price every1 out of the market to make a quick buck. But then again it appears you have no morals as u 1nce bragged in a post about your sister buyin a print at santas ghetto and selling it the same day to pay college fees
Hey - you could sell the Micallefs and get close to £2K. You can call me as many names as you like, but that ain't a bad pay day for hitting a couple of mouse buttons! Just wait for the threads in a couple of days offering their prints up for "trade"/sale....

POW Pictures on Walls, by gbh on Feb 5, 2007 16:30:33 GMT 1, 4 different prints, not all the same.
nothing against you. 4 prints same artist when others can't get one by the artist? As we say in Oz, "fair suck of the sav".
Perhaps the system could do with some "fine tuning" for similar situations when there are multiple high demand items on release at the same time.

got one on the wall, rocks big time.
Isn't it a bit hard to judge the quality of art buy the number of sales (or not sales)? eye of the beholder and all that stuff..... Wouldn't that just indicate popularity (or false popularity in some cases)? Or saleability on ebay later on this afternoon?

Some people are easily wound up.... I'm bored just waiting for the 3D to go on sale...
But yeah - I would have resold the Micallefs if I could have done - nearly as overrated as the Banksy LA prints (which are a load of tat)

POW Pictures on Walls, by runyaga on Feb 5, 2007 16:42:55 GMT 1, Hopefully either someone can learn from this experience. Towards the end I will be a bit technical (hopefully someone from POW will be listening)
I had a Micallef Judgement Day in my shopping basket. (Have the screenshot to prove it *wink*) Then I went to check out which I encountered a problem -- either my CC vendor said "No" or there was some other type of error. Regardless this is where the lesson is to learnt.
The current POW system is not capable of "unf@#king" itself once it attempts to do a checkout. Because the "Order Ref" number that is tied to your basket is being passed to payment processor. If they *ever* see that number again they will throw an error on VendorTX code has been repeated.
This means that if you have *any* problem during the payment stage you are fscked. Your only chance will be to CLEAR YOUR COOKIES and start from scratch (you can imagine how pissed I was ;-)
The Gory Details:
Simply removing contents in your basket will not be enough. Because once your basket is created you get a "Order Ref" number. This Order Ref number is what they pass off to their third party payment processing guys. This is the problem; the existing basket is tied via session to the order ref. So until your basket "goes" away you have this reference number. But the third party vendor doesnt want to use this reference number because they had a problem with it.
What probably should happen is:
- There should not be a Order Ref number that is created upon adding items into your basket. (Unless you are going to honor people like myself who are having problems)
- The Order Ref is really a "transaction reference" which should be generated upon clicking the "purchase on 3rd party site" button.
- This way if there is an error you can bail out the transaction reference number (order ref) and have another go.
In my experience a order reference number is such that customer support can help a customer with their order *wink* Unfortunately POW is not the most responsive of organizations.

didn't even look at the other Micallefs as I assumed they were sold out long ago.
bet POW are making up for their lack of sales for the last month today!

POW Pictures on Walls, by daz205 on Feb 5, 2007 17:01:00 GMT 1, why should`nt you be able to buy 4 different prints at once from 1 artist i`ve been after some michaleff since i saw them at the park bar i`ll admit i`ll be trying to trade some for other micaleffs i like more eg. self portrait, head and FF i cant see a problem with this. and why was no one complaining when you could have bought 4 eric il caine (sp?) etc

Unlike so many of the other prints it has a timeless quality about it. Its one of the prints i dare say i will have on the kitchen wall for years to come. Her work is very collectable - all her prints seem to compliment each other. I like.

POW Pictures on Walls, by stylus on Feb 5, 2007 17:03:43 GMT 1, Agreed - I had the same cutomer ref issue - and it sorted itself out after 10 mins or so.
Whilst it will be a mixed bag today: Some happy (those who managed to buy) and some sad (those who didn't), I hope that most people will agree that the website has been massively improved over what we were faced with the last time a Banksy piece came up.
Other than the minor glitches - which I think will prove to be coding teething issues for the PoW team - I didn't see the website fall over once today, due to traffic overload.
This begs the next question.... will they simply release the next Banksy LA print on the website Business As Usual (rathe rthan the lottery)?
