Will LED light bulbs damage Art? ๐ก, by AFR1KA on Dec 30, 2012 6:27:05 GMT 1, Have my recent stencil purchase up on the wall. It has the anti uv glass and its not getting direct sunlight. Since its black on black some details are hard to see. We wanted to put an LED spotlight to really being the details out. Is this ok? Will it cause damage?

Expensive as hell, but it's an incredibly cold (temp) light compared to anything else and gives off almost no UV light. I'd research the bulb you plan to buy beforehand (some bulbs aren't truly LED, and contain other components) to make sure it's exactly what it says, but you shouldn't have a problem with fading or damage with a LED light. Hope this helps.

Although consider the fact you have taken the measure of fitting UV glass I wouldn't have any concerns in shining any light on the piece. Most inks and paints are pretty colour fast these days, it's mainly reds pinks and purple you need to be careful with.

Will LED light bulbs damage Art? ๐ก, by Unica on Dec 19, 2015 0:29:00 GMT 1, I've recently changed all the lights in my house to LED bulb and have halved my electricity bill, and would recommend the doing it although the initial expense of buying the bulbs was costly.
Now I have these new bulbs, I have some fairly nice art hanging around not in UV glass. Does anybody know if LED lights omit UV rays?

Being able to adjust the margins of the lighting to only highlight the art would be great for my OCD.

Basically put a spot above every artwork, which you can direct as you wish. Then you can buy specific bulbs which you turn to change the aperture depending on the size/area you want to illuminate.
What ever you do good illumination of artworks is a game changer. Good luck!

Thanks rosac ! Like you, I'm a big fan of quality art lighting...curious if anyone's gone down the road of a more high tech lighting system like Phantom Lighting or a comparable product. I love the idea of controlling any light spill on the wall. |

Lighting obviously plays a huge factor in displaying works of art. Want my pieces to look as good as possible on the wall. Moving house and might fit some new lighting in in the process.
