This is a really interest collab I must say. I like the unique paring of street art and ballet. Interested to see it in the context.

"The artists have also created limited-edition works of art – 2-inch wood blocks hand-painted on all six sides _that will be handed out to each of the 5,000 audience members who attend two special performances, on Feb. 1 and May 29, where every seat in the house will go for $29.
"The idea was to provide something you could take away from the ballet and use as a conversation piece to further push the conversation and the experience you had at the ballet," Miller said."

each to their own I guess, if provocative art floats your boat then I don't think Faile have ever ticked that box so not sure it can be levelled as a criticism. They were given the opportunity to work with NYCB on this project, who threw open their archives for them. Naturally they embraced this in their own way, using a visual language they've been developing for years rather than going off on a radical new stylistic tangent. I suppose it's quite a literal response to the brief but personally I think their work shows much more class and finesse than, say, if Shep or someone had been given the same opportunity.

I get the jigsaw/kite thing though and can see how blocks etc could be perceived as gimmicky. I've always seen it as Faile's way of exploring different media whilst retaining full control over their output, Personally i'd like to see a lot more artists personally create pretty much everything they sign their own name on. But i'd take a print or canvas over a puzzle box every time. I'm not an investor, have a few low end prints and am an unashamed fan, so am always excited to see some new Faile imagery.

Thankyou a well thought out response ... I suppose central to the critique would be the above, failes development seems non existent possibly even backward - the imagery feels less personalised or emotional than previous work. Provocative was possibly the wrong descriptor. I probably meant colder and less provoking of emotion.

Obviously I hate everything, in fact I love nihilism so I don't.

Buy some tickets and give the away in return for the art, surely its a small price to pay for a Faile 1off if you want it that bad ?! Im only guessing, but I presume this is what Speebe has done ?

Indeed, speebe has paid for the tickets, I provide the american (local) friends and we share the goodies (one each) ;-)

Id buy them and then try to make a deal, probably got more chance than someone offering you the Failes for a price of a ticket.
