For Harland Millerโs first exhibition in Scotland, Ingleby Gallery presents a group of new paintings alongside a selected survey of the artistโs work across several years. Common to all of these paintings is a basic structure of shape borrowed from decades of Penguin paperbacks: a motif that automatically suggests a very British kind of nostalgia, but which Miller turns back on itself with invented titles that prove the dictum that you canโt judge a book, or a painting at least, by its cover.

No, it's just a rather basic bittersweet basic message aimed solely at all of us who love a 'slightly' (but obviously not too much) edgy line to raise a slight chuckle.
At that price, love should really be replaced by cash, thinking about it, it really would be much more edgy with that ...

His last release, which was ยฃ3k originally and is now ยฃ3k plus VAT (I think I am right re the pre release price) is slightly bigger and 15 colour. On his website it is still available, in fact 45 of the edition of 50 are still available so maybe the upshift in pricing has been a bit too fast for the market. I love Harland's work, should have bought a few pieces 18 months ago when they were more affordable / realistically priced, but not to worry.
