Was hoping for another Xmas day drop this year, I was one of the sad people casually checking the site...
good luck with your search kenzler

Patience and realistic view on what you'll need to pay is my advice, as you can see this is a well loved and appreciated Bast piece. Good luck and stay tenacious

I would be curious how this piece is floated, its fairly heavy (at least I know Fenster and Dope Drop are). Ive personally never been a fan of archival tape and there must be some sort of stronger-type adhesive on there.

Bast Piggy Ed of 8, by kenzler on Jan 10, 2013 13:30:29 GMT 1, Ive just had one removed from the frame (Dran) and yes it is. I suppose if you use top quality material and you know what your doing it's good. I suspect the weight of the bast piggy may cause problems though so you may need to use more??

Bast Piggy Ed of 8, by bonesy on Jan 10, 2013 14:34:23 GMT 1, Im in the minority, but personaly I wont frame with anything other than mylar corners or strips. I dont want anything stuck to my prints. Ive seen too many damage pics from archival tape through the years. If the mylar strip is showing a bit it is hardly noticable and I personally like the peace of mind being able to see a small portion of the mylar so I 100% know what was used. Why stick something to your print when you dont have to?

Bast Piggy Ed of 8, by Harveyn on Jan 10, 2013 18:38:52 GMT 1, I presume we are talking about float mounted in both instances?
I always float as irrespective of glass used or direct sunlight fading will occur. With float mounting it will be even. If you use a mount then it will eventually leave a very distinct fade.
So for floating I always use Jap Mulberry paper.
If hinged correctly the process is 100% reversible and will have no effect on the paper. Its how museums do it.
If you float with Mylar corners again you run the risk of uneven fading as the UV light will effect the paper behind transparent Mylar differently than the rest of the paper.
IMO.

Interesting point on the mylar and fading with time, even with UV glass. Absolutely makes sense after enough time passes...... I'll try not to think about it too much.
Ive looked for a framer local to me that will frame with Japanese hnges but am yet to find someone. I would be okay with the method but not many people are experienced with it Ive found. I surely dont want to be the guinea pig either as I believe water is involved
