Sickboy - Mello Diorama - Feb 9th - San Francisco, by pcant on Feb 9, 2013 6:57:32 GMT 1, I just came back from this (I'll try to get some pics from instagram onto here, but if you want to check out my feed, look for pcant on Instagram), it's not only a Sickboy install and work, but Word to Your Mother as well (baseball bats and foam fingers, pic of the finger below). Also Chad Hasegawa (bears) and Charmaine Olivia (portraits).
It was also the opening for White Walls/Shooting Gallery's new space, which is basically around the corner from the old space, in a giant, newly refurbished, vaulted-ceiling place. I like the new space, they left a lot of the old ceiling and structural stuff intact above, in contrast to the stark walls for display space.
I didn't shoot the Sickboy or WTM rooms, because the artists and crews were still working in them when I was there (the show opens tomorrow), I didn't want to intrude. I quite like the giant bears by Hasegawa, there are pics of those on the Instagram feed.
(Note to the mods: Obviously there's an expletive on the giant orange foam hand. Not sure if that's allowed, I'll certainly take it down if it isn't. Can't remember how that's been handled in the past, but not wishing to break rules if it does.)
