PM offers, by manty on Oct 31, 2007 10:50:40 GMT 1, I cant stand the whole offer thing ?
I know why people ask for it, but in futuire regardless of what the print is, I will start with offering £10
Nothing personal
Sometimes I just like the look of the print, and cant be bothered spending an hour researching the last sold prices etc etc, all I want to know is the minimum someone will sell it for, if the price is acceptable, pay them, and get the print.
Hope this is ok :-)
Cheers

So what makes you think the sale price quoted is good value if you dont look at recent sales history?
Why would a seller come out and offer to sell for the lowest price? so you can get a bargin?
As far as I can see you see a print you want, offer what you are prepared to pay and see what happens, if you can be bothered offering 10 - then good luck to you.
appreciate your opinion though - sometimes I think listing a price is way to go - other times not so

PM offers, by GD303uk on Oct 31, 2007 11:17:54 GMT 1, I thought people said open to offers because they where shy or nervous about saying I want x amount, I remember going to see my boss about buying his sons bike, ( I was 17) I went in a bit nervous and stood there while he lent back in his captains chair and said "what do you want to pay?" I s**t myself I had to say a price that wasn’t so low as to insult him and not to high as to rip myself off, I threw a price towards him ( it was higher than I originally wanted) he said ok, and the deal was done ( I was done) I paid over the odds and learnt a lesson. this can be a technique to encourage a high offer, if I have said open to offers it is because I still feel wrong about asking for a price and want to give who ever is buying the chance to offer what they are willing to pay, or trade. I am no salesman but I do have to sell a print every now and then, open to offers

PM offers, by mwjm0 on Oct 31, 2007 11:36:53 GMT 1, I can't stand ebay when theres a print for say £1500 BIN (thats not selling) and someone else lists the same print for £2500. am i missing something or is the seller just stupid and wasting ebay fees. this doesn't have much to do with this post but i feel its an important point of discussion. actually i don't really.

PM offers, by robo on Oct 31, 2007 11:38:03 GMT 1, I'm about to list some items here and I just can't decide whether to put prices or not. Its good to give people a guide, but I'd hate getting flamed if someone disagrees with a value i've put! I'm leaning towards putting down "guide prices" and then allowing people to PM offers.

Just a suggestion and it may or may not work but if you put in the ad, please PM to discuss price, at least then the potential purchaser will think you have an idea of how much you want for it.
