Sculptures by Dr. Freakinstyle, by freakinstyle on Jun 20, 2013 12:21:57 GMT 1, Where can we view and buy your pieces freakinstyle??? Yes, Wizzy is right! Since I haven't managed to get a job so far, I have loads of time to do commissions too. Most skulls cost about 20 to 30 hours. This one was a bit more I think, probably around 40-50 hours, extending the horns and get them more or less symmetrical wasn't easy. The skulls I have made are between 60 to 300 pounds.

Sculptures by Dr. Freakinstyle, by freakinstyle on Jun 27, 2013 15:36:53 GMT 1, I have been busy again on a fictional fossil and this time my old creation the 'GoGo' bird came back into it. I created a scene and used different colours and a different stone. Title: 'What happened to the GoGo?'
Don't know if I have explained it before, but the GoGo is an imaginative bird that I created by making a crossover between the extinct Dodo and Roadrunner, to make the Dodo more survival fit by being a fast runner. Also the reason for the Wile E Coyote fossil.
I don't have anything better to do, where are the jobs? So, will just make more stuff, but they will be a bit smaller to give myself some variation.

Sculptures by Dr. Freakinstyle, by freakinstyle on Jul 15, 2013 11:25:03 GMT 1, Finished the first of a new set of sculptures, no fossils or bones this time. I call these 'Urban Scoundrels' and are wild life that adapt themselves to urban life. I have planned to make around 9 characters before I might move on to something new. These are small, mobile phone size, sculptures and are casts of an original master.
This is de first to hatch: The Golf Ball Snatcher: This bird is mindless annoying character that likes to mess with someoneโs game. He is a bit of a psychopath.
Pablo Escobike: Pablo Escobike; The slow and under influence, council worker that has the responsibility to draw the lines for the British cycle paths. It goes slow, random and intermitted. Pretty pointless, but Pablo is having fun and is not ready to go to a rehab yet.

Sculptures by Dr. Freakinstyle, by freakinstyle on Jul 24, 2013 18:02:58 GMT 1, Finished two more scoundrels:
The Traffic Cone Terrorist: This is an urban hermit crab that likes to steel traffic cone to serve as a home and mess with traffic control to cause havoc.
Vinnie 'The Drill' Molini Vinnie 'The Drill' Molini. He is the preferred hitman for underground urban areas. He is a bit of a rough character and you won't see him using a silencer.
My way of showing the weirdness of urban life and how people adapt to it.

Yeah, keep it in mind. Need to make a new skull soon, because I am running out of showpieces and have so many skulls in the garden. Unfortunately no ram skull, but some Roe and Sika deer skulls and Ewe skulls. Now first some Luchadores and the first skull might be a Roman war chariot or something.

Sculptures by Dr. Freakinstyle, by freakinstyle on Aug 19, 2013 14:25:42 GMT 1, I have been busy creating a new paint style for decorating skulls and have now done one skull. It is quite labour intensive, but I loved doing it! This is a female Fallow Deer skull I found a year ago, I have added some geometrical shapes with clay, but that doesn't pop out that much on a photo. Anyway, here it is:

Sculptures by Dr. Freakinstyle, by freakinstyle on Aug 20, 2013 17:07:01 GMT 1, This was the test drive actually to see if I could be consistent within the style. The decoration on the skull is different, but same idea.

Sculptures by Dr. Freakinstyle, by freakinstyle on Aug 28, 2013 17:56:20 GMT 1, Sometimes I wished I would be satisfied in keeping things easy, but I never seem to do. It took a while to figure out how to built it, but it is done! Another sculpture made from bike parts and bones. Title: Ronny Ravage

Sculptures by Dr. Freakinstyle, by freakinstyle on Sept 25, 2013 17:13:20 GMT 1, A new type of skull, this time not a real one, but more an urban type I have sculpted myself. Will make limited edition of casts from these. Basically until the mould is f*cked, which will be between 10 and 20 casts, but won't be doing 20 in one go, will take it slow and spread them out over the next two years I think. First up is 'Flame':

Sculptures by Dr. Freakinstyle, by freakinstyle on Oct 7, 2013 13:30:42 GMT 1, The latest skull I finished, the second of the few casts I am doing from that skull, but decorated differently and sculpted some extra bits. Title: 'Crushed Transition' The skull has several butterflies on it made from found plastic water bottles and two butterflies are crushed by two piles of money controlled by the skeleton. Explaining this, because difficult to see from the picture. In contrast to the other one, this one does have a message, but not going to bore you with that, because main priority is that it looks good, hope it does!

Sculptures by Dr. Freakinstyle, by freakinstyle on Oct 7, 2013 18:42:34 GMT 1, Brilliant that Dr F, more skullduggery!. Tell the story behind it. Thanks for all the positive vibes Wizzy!
Well, quite simple actually; I wanted to make a day of the dead themed theme with a modern twist on money and our environment. Day of the dead is about remembering the ones that have died and in this case something that seems dead but still walks among us; capitalism, the skeleton. I am not against letting things sort out by markets, but we are still blinded by money. In this case the so called 'dead' capitalism still has a grip on things and in this case positive change for a more sustainable way of living. We are now more focussed on getting the economy back on track and we skip the measures that will ensure a healthy environment in the long run. So you see some of the positive changes, the butterflies, being crushed or held back by our focus on getting the economy back on track. So this sculpture expresses the remembering of the loss of either capitalism/money for some and the loss of momentum to change our way we deal with out environment for others.
This might be a logic en sensible step to first focus on economy to get money to help people on tight budgets, but I think there is plenty of room to help the environment and people on tight budgets at the same time.
And I should stop here now, before I drag all kinds of things in it that I never intended while creating it!
