If you have a Blek Sheep..., by fairplay1974 on Mar 6, 2013 20:44:26 GMT 1, Be happy because not only do you have a great print but you now have an edition of 144!
Bought mine framed from a stand up, great forum member a long while back and this rant bears no reflection on them at all. They would not have been in position to know what I learnt today.
The print was purchased by me framed, with the framing done by a framer that will remain nameless until I at least have chance to discuss this with them directly (they are not represented on the forum). There was nothing untoward about the framing to the naked eye or on the external and it had also been well sealed. Today it was to be removed and suffice to say conservation materials and techniques had not been used internally...Far from it.
Maybe I expected too much as this print was framed a long time ago, but because of the poor materials used the technique to remove the print as safely as possible proved almost impossible.
I won't go into detail because I'm still raw thinking about why someone would use the materials they did.... Suffice to say a lot of glue and framing materials that shed large amounts of dye do not mix!
So I've lost my Sheep (yes it really is that bad and maybe learnt a harsh lesson at the same time) and for the foreseeable future shall be known as little bo pissed off peep!
