To say having no system leads to chaos isnt true, another similar forum uses no respect system and its works just fine, no better or worse than here.
It was set up to provide an indicator to new members who was trustworthy / knowledgable and thats a great idea when looked at with a wide angle, is just seems to be used for less worthwhile means and more personal gripes. End of the day its YOUR forum, and YOU make it what it is, if you feel the need to abuse the systems been put in place for you then you deserve what you get. The system has been purposely left with NO accountabilty leaving the onus of trust and honesty with the posters.
If the system is used propperly and for the reasons it was established then its a worthwhile one, if abused, then it means very little.
Just dont abuse it.

On a moral philosophy level (wrong term but been drinking) the whole 'freak' thing is an interesting dilemma. In the 19thC Chang and Eng (the original 'Siamese' twins) made a handsome living as a result of their condition. Robert Wadlow, at a spit short of nine feet tall earned a kings ransom and he and his family reaped the benefit. The Tocci twins (two boys to the sixth rib - a 'single boy below') toured Europe in private carrriages draped in finery and jewels.
Now, these are the exceptions - as are Lance Armstrong, Michael Jordan and Michelangelo. However, because the previous groups differences are more visible - we feel they need defending. I mean - to win the Tour de France so many times must mean that EVRYTHING else is held in little regard. However, this abnormailty is hidden, within the mind. He can move among us anonymously, so does not arouse our suspicion. He doesn't LOOK different...
I've always been fascinated by the physical manifestation of difference, and how it is treated compared to the mental. Would Richard III be held in such low regard if he didn't have a hunch? Would Quasimodo elicit our sympathy without?

We have seen it time and time again if you have lost points the very worst thing you can do is make more posts moaning about it coz it normally causes you to loose more. I think some of you just need to accept that if they continue to post such strongly worded messages on these forums you are bound to upset some people its just a fact of life! you cant blame the system. I know you like blaming me for all the problems under the sun but your respect score is controlled by YOUR actions. If you have upset people you WILL loose points if your friendly and helpful you WILL gain points.
Before I read all of these posts I'm going to say what I did to begin with.
The respect system is total rubbish, I could not give a monkeys if I was +100000000 or -1000000000 what I see is a system that has been created to control people a system that has been set in place to control what you say, and to stop you from speaking what is in your hearts and minds due to the fact that you might upset someone or go against the flow resulting in negative feed back which makes you look like a ''bad person'' so people won't deal with you or respect you opinions.
To call a forum BANKSY INFO, then impose such a system is a farce and makes a fool out of everything that Graffiti and people such as BANKSY stand for, it makes it a f**king nanny state and silences people that want to voice their opinion.
The sooner the bulls**t respect system is removed the better.
AND STOP DELETING POSTS WHAT THE f**k IS THIS??? Unless a post is HIGHLY offensive ie racist, abusive or evil, then it should stay.
I was banned last week without any warning for voicing my opinion none what so ever, this was a problem because I had a few deals with forum members for prints, most of quite high value, they had in good faith transfered money into my bank account and had mailed me their addresses here, the only problem I had been banned leaving me a few grand in pocket and them a few grand out of pocket I had to beg Silky to let me back so that they could get their prints without any problems which made me want to puke.
Moan over,and I hope that the censorship WHICH IT IS! Stops and the respect system be re thought.

NEGATIVE RESPECT POINTS....., by loucastel on Nov 4, 2007 13:35:54 GMT 1, As you can see i'm new on here and found the whole forum very helpful and enlightening, I dont really understand the respect points thingy only that I try to get involved in discussions and found that I will get one point then someone comes along, obviously reads what I have written and rather than debate what they didnt like about it they seem to hit the neg button, which I think is a shame, as there are a lot of very articulate people on here ,and if the only way to survive on here is to tell people what they want to hear, then a lot of newcomers wont post, again another shame.

Are you crazy ? it's a classic classic film that did more to highlight the plight of the hanicapped in the 1930s and 40s than anything else., you people need to do some research before you start equating this with Nazi propogana. Sounds like you'd prefer it to be hidden and swept under the carpet again.
The film Freaks portrays the classic moral of how outer beauty does not necessarily equate to inner beauty. In the film, the physically deformed "freaks" are inherently trusting and honorable people, while the real monsters are two of the "normal" members of the circus who conspire to murder one of the performers to obtain his large inheritance.
In 1994 the film was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant".
