Framing canvas prints - any ideas?, by Deleted on May 9, 2013 12:23:22 GMT 1, Hi,
I'm buying a Martin Whatson Window Washer canvas later on today. It's the 60 x 60cm edition of 10 and has a depth of 4cm.
I thought I might look into framing it as I've heard that this can look really good. I was wondering if anyone else had done something similar and if so could you stick up a few pictures as I'd like to get an idea of what type I frame job I could get.
Ta.

Framing canvas prints - any ideas?, by Deleted on May 10, 2013 0:45:16 GMT 1, Niiiiiiice : )
Do you know how the canvas is fixed to the frame? Is it just a simple case of a couple of screws going into the top corners from the back of the frame?

Framing canvas prints - any ideas?, by Hubble Bubble on May 10, 2013 9:03:53 GMT 1, Couple of Eine canvasses here:
Simply framed in perspex, mounted on white backing... great for seeing sides of canvas. Framed with the help of Cassius at Nelly Duff
This one is framed in deep black box frame, non reflective glass, mounted on black. Framed by Gary (MFM)
Happy framing. HB

Framing canvas prints - any ideas?, by Jeezuz Jones Snr on May 10, 2013 10:54:11 GMT 1, Its a bit of a minefield but purely from enjoying the art perspective I tend to like the tray frame solution as it looks slightly better. Also you have no reflection issues which of course can be reduced with museum or non reflective glass. That said glazed does give you protection againt the elements (dust, little fingerprint, moisture to an extent etc). Of course you might then start to worry about the increased risk of severe damage if the glass gets broken. Best not to overthink these things.... Some of mine with both types. Russell Young Canvas - Tray Futura Canvas - Tray Ron English Canvas - Tray BAST Canvas - Tray Banksy PP Canvas & Barry McGee Cluster - Glazed
Hello Harv, loving that Russell young, very special.. That's what we call a keeper, if I owned that it wouldn't be going anywhere....

Framing canvas prints - any ideas?, by Deleted on May 10, 2013 19:00:19 GMT 1, Cheers folks you've given me some great ideas.
I took my Whatson canvas to MFM at lunchtime and I've gone for a 20mm wide black tray frame with a 15mm gap between the canvas and the frame. I needed something as the white part of the Window Washer picture (the 'washed' part) just blended into the wall behind the canvas which was not the look I was going for!
I decided not to get any glass as I like the fact that the canvas is 'exposed' to the outside world.
I can't wait to get this back, it's going to look immense!! : )
