Framed Faile 150's ?, by The Origin on May 13, 2013 21:04:09 GMT 1, Has anyone got any pictures of their Faile 150 series framed up?
Not sure whether to go with white box frame and coloured spacers as I have seen on here which look great.
Would like to see some examples in a black box frame too if anyone has any pictures?
Any inspiration appreciated - cheers!

Framed Faile 150's ?, by The Origin on May 14, 2013 9:36:17 GMT 1, Thanks - that looks great in black!
I think i'm swinging towards the black box frame on these.
Any examples of a black box frame floated on a white backing knocking around?
Cheers!

Framed Faile 150's ?, by morgan on Aug 1, 2013 17:45:44 GMT 1, n00b question but I have never floated anything before but I really want to with (hoping) first Faile that I end up getting.
A. Where do people get these black/white box frames? Or are they just regular frames with deep rabbets? B. For floating are you just using some form of a hinge with linen tape on the back to the matte directly? If so could someone expand on that? C. What if you wanted to "lift" it a bit floated? Just mount it to a smaller foam core or something (same question as above will apply here) then attach that to backing matte?
Thanks so much in advance!! And I did search a bit but could not find exactly what I was looking for. And thanks to the Mods who finally approved my reg on the board and can finally start posting!
Cheers

Cheers I am told by a close personal friend that if you send a message to curiousgeorge asking him said matter he will inform you re framing etc as he is very wise about such things. A while I made an entire how-to-float-a-print posting on the EB site complete with photos. I don't post comments here so I'm not sure what the protocol is for posting links to the EB site. I also recently floated one of the 150 series prints and was again planning to post another how-to posting. There and several methods you can use when floating a print. I use traditional conservation materials (wheat paste, Japanese hinging paper, museum board, etc.) as I work in a fine arts museum. I'm also happy to answer any questions you might have.

Souldn't be a problem posting a link, I've done it before with ebeans.
Edit. Are you the chr1s that did the MBW Rockwell triple portrait? That was genius I loved it! Welcome to the forum

Framed Faile 150's ?, by morgan on Aug 11, 2013 19:40:59 GMT 1, awesome guide just what I was looking for! Are those strainers that come with the frame (looks like the one above uses a similar deal) what usually comes with "canvas floater frames" that you are just using a print instead of a canvas? Thanks again!

Framed Faile 150's ?, by chr1s on Aug 12, 2013 13:47:29 GMT 1, awesome guide just what I was looking for! Are those strainers that come with the frame (looks like the one above uses a similar deal) what usually comes with "canvas floater frames" that you are just using a print instead of a canvas? Thanks again! Just to be clear, the strainer is the wooden frame that fits into the BACK of the frame. When you screw the strainer into place it holds the art, mat, spacers, etc. firmly in place. And with larger frames the strainer also helps keep the frame from bowing or flexing. I also put all my hanging hardware on the strainer.....not on the frame. I order a lot of my frame from metroframe.com and order strainers with the frame. The spacers I use are usually wooden spacers and the spacers are what separates the acrylic from the art – so the art is only coming in contact with the museum board that it is floating on.
