Have any if these members actually brought anything or is it just to hype up the prices?

There are a few members doing the same with Banksy prints at the moment, sadly it's nothing new.
Cue the Dolk fans jumping to the defence
Edit, that didn't take long!

Remember eine after someone gave Obama a canvas? It was eine crazy on here for a while!! I like dolk but think his recent releases haven't been good at all, but that's just my opinion of course.

Dolk claims he was inspired by the British street artist Banksy to start with stencil art.

What's with all the big money DOLK wanted , by Deleted on Jun 16, 2013 10:15:28 GMT 1, Hang on a minute, all that's happened recently as nuart correctly points out is some well to do Norwegian fans have become active on the forum and his two most wife friendly pieces have gained some traction (how much is another question). There's no sudden 2006 'moment' in fact in alot of respects (apart from these two pieces) very little has changed in recent times. Although I'm sure for anyone feeling a little queazy at what they've spent they'll bang on about how it obviously has (without the supporting data).

I wouldnt exactly say Dolk was credible. There are far better artists producing better work for a fraction of the prices Dolk is charging for his prints. You only have to look at the prices for a lot of his less popular work that has stayed relatively consistent on the secondary market to realise that people aren't just buying because it's Dolk and it's only a handful of pieces that are reaching silly money.

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and say you're joking. Not taking anything away from Dolk. I do like his work but there are many "credible things" in the urban art scene worth collecting."

What's with all the big money DOLK wanted , by peggy on Jun 16, 2013 13:04:28 GMT 1, ALL WHITE NOISE. BIG MONEY AS PEOPLE THINK THEY CAN BECOME MILLIONAIRES BUYING DOLK'S TRITE TRIPE, TO SELL ON AT A LATER DATE TO OTHERS. AND SO IT GOES ON UNTIL NEXT EMPEROR'S NEW CLOTHES APPEARS. ARTIST & PRINTERS ABUSING THIS NEEDY GRAB FOR CASH. IS THAT RIGHT OR WRONG? IS IT FAIR THAT ARTIST SHOULD MISS OUT ON CASH BONANZA? IS THAT WHY AN ARTIST PRODUCES ART?
IN 50 YEARS TIME WILL PEOPLE REALLY REMEMBER THE BURGER-KING DOG AS A MASTERPIECE OF NORWEGIAN STREET INFLUENCED ART?
THIS IS ART THAT THAT IT'S FANS DESERVE, AND THE MORE THEY WANT TO PAY FOR IT THE BIGGER MUGS THEY REALLY ARE.

What's with all the big money DOLK wanted , by Deleted on Jun 16, 2013 13:25:14 GMT 1, YOU DON'T HAVE TO SHOUT !
As someone said it's just supply and demand. I happen to think its crazy that you can spend thousands of pounds for an unsigned Banksy print yet loads of people here don't bat an eyelid at that price! Why? Because that's what the going rate is. How much were Banksy's prints when they were first released all those years ago, £70? £80? It's demand that has pushed the price up.
Something is worth what someone else is prepared to pay for it.

What's with all the big money DOLK wanted , by Deleted on Jun 16, 2013 14:00:02 GMT 1, ...and now we enter two distinctly different conversations. 1. Is Dolk a good artist? 2.Is his work a good investment? On the subject of 1. I would say yes, conceptually he's created a number of pieces over the years, with an undoubted depth plenty of other so called street artists have spectacularly failed to do so. Not least in recent years taking an undoubted pot shot at his collectors that they totally missed (toy), to cannily remarking on the development of street art and himself that again was missed by most (evolution). On the subject of 2. safe to say, that those who say it is a worthy investment have a reason to do so, whilst those who don't, simply do not like his work. Objectively? Well, if there's been a rise, it probably happened a couple of years ago and has seemingly settled, those wishing for gain are probably barking up the wrong tree unless of course some more rich collectors decide to jump into the market. But that does not seem to be happening on any great scale.
