why not offer it here and post some pictures, even if you need a quick sale you can still do things properly. you never know you might get a bit more than ยฃ1.5k......
to paraphrase your post, i wouldn't think that it is ever worth "a punt" when you're talking about ยฃ1500 pounds.
at least be straight with people, tell them it's your's, show some photos and let the potential buyers be in possesion of the full facts.
