Ebay - what does this mean?, by paulypaul on Nov 13, 2007 19:08:06 GMT 1, I got this email - I din't win but why would it have been withdrawn after it ended? How does that work??
Dear ,
We're writing to let you know that eBay has ended the following item you were bidding on due to factors beyond the seller's control:
Item Number - 190171055245 Item Title - BANKSY LOVE RAT PRINT 2004 FROM POW,162/600
As eBay removed the item, you are no longer obliged to send payment for it. However, the seller is free to list the item again so you may like to watch for future listings from them.
Thank you for your understanding. We wish you all the best buying and selling on eBay.
Regards,
Customer Support (Trust and Safety Department)

Ebay - what does this mean?, by kronoopus on Nov 13, 2007 19:12:15 GMT 1, Probably someone found some KEYWOD SPAMMING...... Execessive shipping charges.........Any number of reasons. They can do that, just in case the seller wants to contact you to "make a deal".

Ebay - what does this mean?, by paulypaul on Nov 13, 2007 19:47:19 GMT 1, Hmmm - strange. Shipping was expensive but surely, if you bid, you accept this?
Sorry - for a minute I started to think ebay was fair and equitable....

Ebay - what does this mean?, by dave313perry on Nov 13, 2007 20:09:01 GMT 1, Was the message you recieved via your ebay account or was it an e-mail straight to your registered e-mail address???
also - forward the following info to Ebay help immediately to authenticate it - if its an e-mail sent straight to your email address it could easily be a manufactured message created by the seller to put you off purchasing it.
Im no ebay expert but worth checking with ebay help!

Ebay - what does this mean?, by seidbereit on Nov 13, 2007 20:17:27 GMT 1, Hi,
my first post on here, but the message you received from eBay (at the top - sometime I'll find out how to add other members' posts to my post) is identical to one I received while I was bidding on an unsigned HMV dog about two-three weeks ago.
I dropped out of the bidding at around 1400 due to natural causes and when the auction ended - well, I say when it ended as it was ended with about 1 second to go by eBay - the top bid had just reached something stupid like 1950 odd pounds* after being at a variety of other rather silly prices after I had dropped out.
As I was in contact with the same seller on another item he was selling, I asked him what had happened and he told me the item had been pulled as the "winner" claimed his log-in had been commandeered by someone else without his permission. Said he'd be relisitng it soon but I've not spotted it.
That sound plausible to you learned people?
Excellent site / forum btw, I've thoroughly enjoyed reading my way around a variety of threads today after registering for the first time this morning.
PS (edit): the postage charges all seemed very reasonable in the auction I mentioned so that wouldn't have been the reason (if another reason were to be looked for)
* sorry, I don't have one of those handy pound signs on my keyboard.

Ebay - what does this mean?, by lesbianwednesdays on Nov 13, 2007 20:47:08 GMT 1, all sorts of reasons, using intellectual property rights, keyword spamming, cross-promotion type stuff, counterfeit or bootlegged items, there are a whole host of reasons. also if there has been an account hijacked somewhere along the line then could explain it also.
i got a phishing email from 'paypal' about two weeks ago, it reeked too, just be very wary of any correspondance from the two and take nothing for granted.
there will be nuff people who can tell you in more detail the other possibilities of why it may have been removed but my guess is it is because of a technicality.

Ebay - what does this mean?, by dmandpenfold on Nov 21, 2007 14:03:05 GMT 1, just noted LR 162 listed again, not long to go either.
according to paulypaul ebay pulled this auction, but the seller says it was re-listed because of time-wasters.
also the listing still says the numbering is on the left when in the picture it is on the right and i still cant make out if it is stamped.
Of course it may well be genuine all the way, but the seller isnt doing himself any favours.
Anyone including the seller able to shed some light on it?
