Enter the Brooklyn bred KAWS into the mix and his widely admired Companion figure. The figures will be part of the actual show as winner artist will receive a KAWS โVideo Music Awardโ Companion to embellish their mantles, home offices, and or childrenโs rooms.

If I was an actor and I won an Oscar, I want a real Oscar statue not a Kaws toy. Same here I'd want an MTV moonman not a Kaws toy. Not that there's anything wrong with Kaws toys, I own some, they're fine. But they're two different things. They have no meaning in regards to this. It makes no sense .... just like putting a kaws balloon in the Thanksgiving Day parade. It looked ridiculous, out of place.
I know what you mean about wanting to win the real award... some artists might be a bit pissed off (as kaws said himself in the interview)
On the other hand, it'll be a bit more valuable than the real ones, and who'd grumble. It's free !
Good PR for Kaws and MTV though. Plenty of extra press they can get out of this.

These are more unique than a regular moon man. Plus, MTV awards are not as high regarded as an Oscar, two totally different levels. As for the KAWS balloon, so you are saying it looked out of place next to a buch of cartoon characters? You're crazy!!

It was different, and confused many people, but at least it's not another balloon promoting a nasty product (unless of course you count Kaws as a nasty product !  )
