STAMP (STreet Art Mapping Project), by almyz125 on Jul 9, 2013 1:38:54 GMT 1, Hi all, forgive me if I'm posting this in the wrong sub-forum. I'm not sure where to begin so i'm going to jump right in here.
About a year back I was in NYC and wanted to find some graffiti to look at. Me being neither a graffiti artist nor a local of NYC, I decided to search the Android market for an app that had a map of local street art. The search came up with nothing.
Later that month I watched exit through the gift shop. In the film Banksy says something to the effect of, street art has a short life and it needs to be preserved. That thought resonated with me and I thought about how I could contribute to this philosophy.
Being somewhat of an Android developer myself, I started to brainstorm and figure out what it would take for a service like this to exist. I came up with two objectives. The first being photographically preserve the artwork and the second being record its location.
After months of development, i'm getting close to the alpha stage of this service. I have a front end client for android and a server backend to support it.
The one thing this app is missing is the polish it deserves. I am not a graphical artist, nor a street artist. So here comes the reason I came here. Is there:
A: anyone who would be interested in a service like this? B: are there any artist willing to contribute polish to this app? C: If so would you be willing to license the art under the GPL or Creative commons license?
If anyone is interested please let me know!
Thanks!
