What's Banksy up to these days? (and to a lesser extent POW), by Neate Michael on Jul 30, 2013 10:26:44 GMT 1, I am genuinely curious as to what Mr B is up to these days? No new stencils on walls recently, no new films, no shows, no new books, no new prints....
Do we think we may get a nice new surprise this year, such as a show and a book?
Also, thinking of POW, wasn't there talk that they held back from doing a Christmas show this year, because there would be a big 10 year show? Could that still be happening?
Do you think they will ever release a Banksy print again? Do they still work with him? And lastly, I genuinely wonder what happened to that Gorilla print... Was it scrapped because B didn't like it? I guess those remaining LA prints never surfaced either, so it wouldn't be the first time....

The whole Banksy Vs Robbo thing took its toll on him too. Receiving death threats and being accused of being behind Robbo's accident would be enough to get to most people.
Source: A gallery owner who says he knows him personally. I have no reason to doubt him as he has nothing to gain by making it up.

Instead of having a edition of 150 or some low number. He obviously knows that more than 150 people are willing to buy his prints. That will make the edition size larger, and it probably won't be worth as much since there will be so many out there. But the only people who will complain are the ones in it for the profits in the secondary market.

Indeed and let's face it after that onslaught from years past a breather was definitely in order. I'd like to think that we get something later this year but that's up to him. He has the luxury of being able to slow down and focus in the studio on whatever his mind fancies for as long as he wants as opposed to rushing out every idea without any quality control whatsoever. Few even get to that place in life and many who do choose to dilute themselves as it is. I don't believe I could exhibit the same amount of patience in his shoes but the wait is raising my expectations for whatever eventually comes next.

This is people who bought a print years ago and kept it neatly filed away and waited to make their profit with no intention of sticking it on the wall, not people who bought it one week and sold it another. Can you really not see how someone who wants to make street art available to everyone might resent people buying his work purely to make a profit and turn his art into nothing more than a commodity?
