anyone remember the name of this art shop?, by bru on Nov 17, 2007 17:55:26 GMT 1, ...this art shop was a concession in the basement of Selfridges, circa 2003... it sold loads of Banksy prints (including my Bomb Middle England)... does anyone remember the name of it? (Think it was a pun involving "Art")
also, am thinking of parting with my beloved BME, but don't have a receipt (it was a present and it was only worth £40/50 at the time!)... apart from telling potential buyers where it was bought, is there anything else I can do to help prove its provenance? (I've got a note from the framers saying they framed it in 2003, which I guess helps a bit...)
thanks for your time guys.

Does the receipt from the framer have the name of the print or anything?
do you have a bank statement or credit card statement that it was purchased on?

I remember talk of it before, Westley might know, I think he got something out of there. As for the selfrigdes thing, there might / should be records of what prints were supplied to them by PMYC / POW and your print should fall within that category. Might be worth getting in touch with POW to see what they can do. Not much help, but this far down the line, you might be lucky but the longer its left the harder it is.

anyone remember the name of this art shop?, by bru on Nov 17, 2007 18:42:35 GMT 1, thanks chaps....
hmmm, Artomatic sounds very possible... will follow up that lead..
alas it was bought for me (by an ex g/f... say no more) so I won't have any transaction records... and I doubt she would - even if I did want to speak to her again, which I don't!
good idea about contacting POW - I guess they must have records of which print numbers went to which retailers...
thanks again guys

That's where I saw Banksy prints for the first time... they had 'Love is in the Air', 'Bomb Middle England' & Happy Choppers on the walls and on sale.
Nearly bought them then, but decided that 30 quid was a bit much for a poster!
Though it was on Drays Walk(?) opposite where the Big Chill bar is now when I was there. Think they may have had 2 shops though,
