Protecting canvas artwork, by DameHoracia on Aug 8, 2013 7:54:37 GMT 1, I just wondered if someone can advise me. I bought a 100 cm x 100 cm piece of art work and it only just occured to me in the early hours that it's white and going by other work I have had since my teens, what the elements do to the canvass doesn't bode well. It concerns me enough to think about somehow protecting it. I am in London, I can't bear to unwrap the piece because I'm worried it will just discolour even though it's a non smoking household.
I read about float frames, emailed a few framers just to enquire but wondered if this was the best option and who possibly to approach?

Protecting canvas artwork, by dotdot on Aug 8, 2013 8:54:00 GMT 1, if you want to protect anything - frame it. if you don't want it to fade - then you're going to have to live somewhere dark. underground -- i joke.. perhaps. otherwise.. like Gard said.
float in a box (deep) - would do the trick. plexi or glass / both uv treated would help.
and yes - just for a few months you'd see the diff - when you give it a clean.
