How does it work, does Dolk alone or his 'team' decide his prices?

I love his work and have lots of Dolk pieces including an editioned canvas but I have been watching with increasing concern as his prices at source seem to be going into stupid levels now. He doesn't want to alienate a lot of his fans which is what will happen if this trend continues.

Demand is there as proven by how quick the work sold.... i guess what will happen is the prints will always be accessible to majority of people as they will stay in reasonable price range, but canvas's will be only for a select few....

I'm lucky that i too have a Dolk Canvas which i brought a few years back, but there is no chance i could afford another with todays prices!!

Expensive indeed, but on the other hand the canvases is HUGE! The smaller ones is still possible to purchase for around 65k I believe. Size matters ...

...with Banksy not doing much I don't see this as that unrealistic. Dolk's sarcastic approach isn't to everyone's taste though. His humour is getting a bit lighter these days which will make his art more approachable for the masses.

He could do just one canvas a year and call it 500k.

Dolk is the way forward.

Add up all the sell out print releases Dolk has had over the last few years Think about it, they ain't cheap £70 prints, and the runs are big!
I would guess we are well into Millions of Pounds. Can you name many or even any! That have come close to that recently?

Charles says it will be a little more expensive later....

I really do not want to get in to a "who is bigger" argument, as it all seems a little futile, imo. 
But what you are talking about Dan is just money earnt from prints. If that is how we are to measure an artists success, then that is sad, I fear. 
Look at the show Banksy put on in Bristol - has any street artist ever done anything to match that? And the film? 
Banksy has kept his print prices low for a reason. I am sure he could have made more, had he wished.
Bottom line is Banksy is infamous. Perhaps not a household name, but not far off it. 
Lots of people know who Banksy is, who know little or nothing else of street (or urban, if your prefer) art. I believe the vast majority have not heard of Dolk.

I have looked at the pics of this show, and (apologies to the Dolk fans) I think there are some good pieces, and some which for me fall quite a bit short of what I would call good (unlike his street work, btw) - all just my personal opinion of course. By contrast, when I walked around the banksy bristol show, i was in awe.

That did make me chuckle !!

What an Artist can charge for their work, and still be able to easily sell out, do you not think that's a sign of their popularity?

i wonder what type of commissions he has to pay to all the publicists, pr,investors etc? for a show like this
