Martin Whatson • Angel Print, by Mister Frame Man on Aug 23, 2013 7:49:09 GMT 1, Being a small business I understand how difficult it can be keeping everybody happy all of the time, also the amount of hours needed to put in to keep things going. Slating GP for having a beer is a little unnecessary not knowing how many hours he has put in this week just to make this print available at all!
Anyone upset at not being quick enough to secure this print (& previous Whatson releases) should aim their anger at the "collectors" that will be adding this print to their portfolio under their bed.
I know how many ER have passed through my workshop compared to other recent releases, I could count on one hand! I happen to believe that there are a lot of Whatson prints being stored and in "mint" condition ready for the big bang.

My anger is not aimed at the collectors, but directly at GP. Why advertise that you will have 15 blue versions for release on a certain day. Then selling them to your friends and not saying anything about it until the regular has sold out and you now have zero chance at any version?

Personally I think GP are doing a great job at pushing the kind of varied art we're all interested in and long may they carry on.
You can't please all the people all the time ..

We all make mistakes, I can only put this down to an oversight .... which given GP's busy and high demanding schedule surely is understandable.
We are humans after all ... not robots ....

Martin Whatson • Angel Print, by kel on Aug 23, 2013 14:17:03 GMT 1, Very well put MF. The ever increasing hype that surrounds every release that Martin Whatson does makes them even more in demand. I have never had a problem with GP but reading some of the comments on here makes some of you come across as little brats. Okay lets just say GP made a mistake. Well it happens your life isn't going to be complete and fulfilled just because you have this print. To put on a forum that Artists should leave a Gallery that has supported them because you are not happy with the release just beggars belief.
It is an Art print not the end of the world there will be others.

Martin Whatson • Angel Print, by angel41 on Aug 23, 2013 16:09:17 GMT 1, Very true. Hardly anyone paid him attention until his fantastic 'Eternal Reflection' which made him. Think his work may always be in the shadow of that brilliant piece as he hasn't come close since.
Not a big fan of his latest tagging of everything ideas, it's becoming a bit repetitive but he has been around a long time and kept at it which deserves credit. IMO people that carry on through hard times deserve all the success they get. The bandwaggoning of flippers and people that can't make their own minds up over an artist until they achieve success are just the fickle side of the business unfortunately.

And I think those folks who missed out on this angel has nothing to worry about. A truckload of tagged images are flooding your way! MW has been doing this style for years...before DOLK toy etc.
Banksy has even done it:
Artists spend years developing their own unique style...when you see a MW you know it's a MW.
This is not a fad like people have been suggesting..."wake me up when it's over" etc...it's been around and will be around...it's art that is influenced from the street.
Just like when you see one of the million spot prints you know it's a Hirst...
Regarding the peeps moaning about missing out...

I really hope to see him trying something new.
