Just got the email...maybe im nuts but they seem awfully aggressive to me.

So it was ok for opera gallery to charge about the same.  Poor mans Banksy just hate the images.

I still think Beggar is one of the best stencils out there. Fabulous image.

Struggling to find something I like here, I am very sorry to say.
Not too fussed about prices. Couldnt afford one if you took a 0 off each price - I guess they are correctly priced if they sell, and overpriced if they dont.

coach - I agree with you re his rats and sheep, and Beggar is wonderful. But this is more than just the prices and the images, they are just badly done. There's no sharpness to these. It's as though he's drawn the image with a crayon and then cut the stencils while wearing boxing gloves. And then kept them on to spray.

Quite like the Power of Ignorance work but although i like a Rat, you know where you stand with a Rat!, the Rope Pulling work is s**te, also WTF is he doing Mohicans and Sid for now?.

Prices are pure fkin ridiculous.
No theme at all to the works, they dont hang together, almost like hes done one of everything to try and cater for everyone.

He's made his entire career claiming Banksy stole his style. He's old, but not so old that he invented the stencil.

To be fair Banksy said in his book that he stole from Blek.
But being first is not always being best...

I think we are pretty much in agreement sean. You are, I think, saying the same as me, just a little more forceably! 

i'll forgo the pricing discussion since its so subjective and from a value to materials discussion all art is drastically overpriced.  what makese these worth it is if someone buys it.  There can be an arguement made that certain work is worth more than others but to me art is like friendship, its hard to define what its trully worth but it makes life worth living.

Artistically these seem really poor.  Both the exeuction and the vision seem tired and unprovacative. 
Im not sure what the hell the point was or for that matter why i should care.  There doesnt seem to be soul behind the work and it doesnt hit me on either an unspoken or direct level.

I wouldnt want an OG or a print save maybe for the dog in the sweater and even then only because my 10 year old would find it adorable.

I always thought that quote was a bit sarcastic. He (or the galleries) use it every time they post his work.

Stole?  Are you sure you read it correctly?

In other words, according to the above quote, any similarities with Blek le Rat's work are unfortunate for Banksy, but purely coincidental.
