Banksy - Better Out Than In - New York - BOTI, by Sacked... on Oct 28, 2013 21:05:44 GMT 1, Ha!, just back on here after winds etc. Hoping to see him doing something other than installations etc., something which cannot be claimed / protected / removed by profiteers etc., maybe some extensive stenciling on a police station or other public building, but i suppose he does what he does. Not long left for this now,be good if he could find somewhere to do a piece that will last, even if it gets tagged etc.. Lock and load. Wiz,i always find a sip of peppermint tea helps with 'winds etc'.

Banksy - Better Out Than In - New York - BOTI, by Agent Provocateur on Oct 28, 2013 21:15:20 GMT 1, That'd be freearse graff rather than freehand then wiz! the way forward. Johnny, your reputation as connoisseur of Graff is as intact as it ever was ... mine on the other hand!
Wiz, perfect... would that be done by a stencil arsist!?
Right, getting me DIY three point seat belt sorted for the final installments, it's better to burn out than fade away.

Banksy - Better Out Than In - New York - BOTI, by Cornish Crayon on Oct 28, 2013 21:22:48 GMT 1, accent cant be a stencil. Look at the o an r. Dammit, ok part stencil, the '... normally I write like this' is definitely paint through a hole. Still not convinced about the rest either, the over spray seems wrong for freehand, more what you get when using a stencil (the o and r could have had bridges, then filled, or held with wire so it doesn't show).
Definitely this ^^^^
Without fail it's all stencil, and I don't have an opinion or problem with this.......
Plus the size of the piece, it would be near on impossible to get it this clean, and first time, his written pieces are obvious, if it was a pen fair enough, it's clearly sprayed and cut clean .....

Banksy - Better Out Than In - New York - BOTI, by Quinnster on Oct 28, 2013 22:10:24 GMT 1, Whether his opinion on the new WTC was correct or not, what I appreciate is the honesty and intent to tell it like he sees it. This is sometimes lost with most people trying to always be politically correct.
Today my friend I agree with what you say :-)

Banksy - Better Out Than In - New York - BOTI, by Wearology on Oct 28, 2013 22:10:41 GMT 1, Banksy made a rookie mistake with that NY Times mock Op Ed stunt. We know he was trying to be creative, confrontational and humorous - but the rest of the world thinks he sounds like a complete pompous douche. He also just lit a fire under any cop in NY looking to make a name for themselves by arresting the guy who mocked 9/11.

This isn't Die Hard I had a very similar conversation with someone about a eek ago about how the new WTC looks boring compared to the original designs. I don't see it as him mocking 9/11 I looked at it as someone giving an honest opinion that a lot of people think but dont say. I honestly don't give a sh!t about the new building... it's New York. I was pleased with the whole reflecting pool thing, and I thought they did a nice job with the memorial part - albeit 10 fckn years later?! - and I think after that, it's a non=issue.

I really don't think he can sound like a douche unless you feel protective over the building. The opportunity was there for something different, I believe that as much as the buildings looks are not in any way inspiring, it's function and purpose are what is being attacked by Banksy here for its uninspiring goal. It could have been re-purposed, the area of memorial made a place where communities can mourn, but change the business district rules and create something new and creative, perhaps a place for artists to enrich the culture, or global charities who help bring change to the world to make things better, but it wasn't to be.
He's not being out of character at all, it is free ranges barcode he's been looking for this show, commercialism will always win out, even when the opportunity for change comes from an event as horrific as this, the city ensures that a commercial block is replaced with a commercial block and to make damn sure it's filled, make it a very patriotic height to ensure american tenants feel an obligation to rent because of the sites past.
Or I might have just read more into it and he does just not like the architecture.

Banksy - Better Out Than In - New York - BOTI, by Gramvino on Oct 28, 2013 22:50:14 GMT 1, I'd never seen this Banksy interview before.
Clearly his voice, and obviously "Gunningham" This is very old I'm sure. But sort of confirms it for me. I'm more confused how no one see's him on the streets. Even London, bristol. Anywhere in the UK.

This isn't Die Hard I'm a native NY'er who put ash-covered friends up in my apartment, had a friend die inside and another friend who decided to get a bagel and coffee instead of rushing up to work seeing some of the jumpers splat around her.
I did not take him as mocking 9/11.
In fact, there was a collective guffaw when we heard it would be known as the Freedom Tower, and we think it's lameass stoopid that it's going to be 1,776 feet tall.

Banksy - Better Out Than In - New York - BOTI, by Deleted on Oct 28, 2013 23:47:51 GMT 1, Just as I suspected when I posted here earlier in the day. Going anywhere near the 9/11 topic is going to set off a firestorm. He really did make a "rookie" mistake. Like a NYer going somewhere else in the world and trying to comment on a tragedy they viewed from afar. You just don't do it. You nod and listen to the locals. Yes everyone is entitled to their opinions but Banksy is now a celebrity and when celebrities make comments on politics and such most people just want them to shut the F up. NYPD and FDNY are going to make it their mission to expose him. I hope they fail but I can say one thing if Rudy Guiliani was still mayor he would be in Rikers Island jail already.
